00:00 Steve Errington is Managing Director of Stonebridge Homes. What are we talking about here Steve?
00:05 We're talking about 84 executive homes. We're at phase 5 of this 750 unit development for Sunderland Council with their master plan.
00:13 It's our second development in the North East. We're really excited about it. We're offering 4 bed all the way up to 5 beds.
00:20 We're even offering home offices above garages to support hybrid working.
00:25 We're expecting to have an outlet opening in the summer with show homes at the back end of this year and hopefully first occupations in around October time.
00:35 Councillor Kevin Johnson is Sunderland City Council's portfolio holder for Downing City. Why are we here today?
00:42 We're here today as we celebrate the next phase, the final phase, phase 5 of the Sunderland South Growth Area with Stonebridge building 84 executive 4 and 5 bedrooms homes which will complete this area.
00:54 This is one of the reasons why we want to bring more executive housing. We've got a great housing mix right across Sunderland as we look to bring in jobs of the future and the families coming in and using these homes as well.
01:05 It's all part of us being a more dynamic, vibrant and healthy city.
01:08 Obviously housing has been very much in the news in the last few weeks. How important is it to continue to expand as a city?
01:14 It's greatly important. We need that housing mix that covers everything that we need in terms of executive homes but also make sure we concentrate on those who need social housing as well as bungalows as we look at an ageing population.
01:27 So to have that great mixture of homes right across Sunderland really helps the city grow and become more dynamic and more vibrant for everyone.
