March Madness Top Seeds: Is Marquette in the Running?

00:13 champs, the Huskies to be one
00:15 seeds in the N.C.A.A.
00:17 tournament here in 2024. I also
00:19 expect Houston to be there as
00:21 well at minus 500. Now, let me
00:24 just say this small caveat as of
00:26 this moment, I would place
00:28 Houston's fourth team on that
00:30 one line, and the Cats are
00:32 favored at a minus 280 price.
00:34 But I believe what is awaiting
00:36 for both Arizona and Marquette
00:38 actually favors the Golden
00:40 Eagles to potentially give the
00:42 Big East Conference two one
00:44 seeds in the N.C.A.A.
00:46 tournament. So Arizona right now
00:48 but as we expect in just over
00:50 four weeks, I'm going to give
00:52 the nod to Marquette. And here
00:54 is why. Three more quad one
00:56 opportunities in the regular
00:58 season await Shaka Smart's
01:00 Golden Eagles, including a trip
01:02 tomorrow in Hartford against the
01:04 number one team in the country,
01:06 UConn. To win on the road is a
01:08 difficult thing. Connecticut
01:09 will probably be around a six
01:11 and a half, seven and a half
01:13 point favorite come tomorrow
01:15 afternoon in a Big East battle.
01:17 But Marquette also gets UConn at
01:19 home in Milwaukee before the
01:21 regular season is through. It
01:23 has a road opportunity against
01:25 Creighton. As of this moment for
01:27 Arizona, no quad one
01:29 opportunities remain on the
01:31 resume. Things can change.
01:33 Washington State, for instance,
01:34 in the Pac-12 playing really,
01:36 really good basketball at this
01:38 moment. But that's why I give
01:40 the nod, Donnie, to Marquette.
01:42 And I think there is some value
01:44 at that 15 to one number right
01:46 now for the Golden Eagles
01:47 knowing quad one opportunities
01:48 are on the horizon. The Big East
01:50 as a conference is a much more
01:52 as a much stronger league. So
01:54 you have the regular season
01:55 opportunities and even the Big
01:57 East tournament opportunities
01:59 inside Madison Square Garden
02:01 where I give Marquette playing
02:02 out of the Big East, the slight
02:04 nod instead of Arizona playing
02:06 in a weaker Pac-12.
