00:00 We are back here at Riviera Country Club where round three of the Genesis Invitational just wrapped up.
00:05 Patrick Cantlie is still at the top of the leaderboard. How would you assess his round today?
00:09 Well, he played fine, but he actually let a few people back into the tournament.
00:15 He had a five shot lead starting the day.
00:17 It's now only two shots over his buddies Xander Schauffele and Will Zalatoris who would be a great start if he were to win.
00:24 So, you know, he's got his work cut out.
00:27 I mean, I'm sure the way he looks at it is he didn't have his best day, but yet he's still leading.
00:32 You take two shot lead going in the final round any time and I think that's how he'll approach Sunday.
00:38 You mentioned Will Zalatoris and Xander Schauffele only two back from Patrick Cantlie right now. What do you expect to see from them tomorrow?
00:45 Well, him and Schauffele are good buddies. They play a lot of practice rounds together. They've been Ryder Cup teammates, President Cup teammates.
00:51 So that's a very comfortable pairing for those two guys.
00:55 I mean Schauffele's not won in a little while either. Cantlie has not won since the fall or August actually of
01:02 2022 at the BMW Championship. He's had a lot of opportunities, but he hasn't won. He still ranks seventh in the world.
01:08 Xander's actually fifth in the world.
01:10 I mean, these are like two high caliber players who just haven't won that much recently.
01:15 And Zalatoris is a guy who hasn't been in this position for a while. He's coming off a back surgery last year
01:22 that happened. He had a withdrawal from the Masters, had back surgery a couple days later,
01:26 didn't return to competition until December and he's sort of feeling his way back and here we are only a few events into the new
01:34 year. He's already in contention. It's a great sign for him, even if he doesn't win.
