00:00 I guess I should have said wrinkled as one of the three words that describe my style.
00:05 Hi Who What Wear, I'm Monica Padman, and today we're gonna go through some of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe.
00:12 I think I would describe my style as
00:18 classic,
00:21 eclectic, and pretty. So these are some of my favorite pieces.
00:28 This one is a Norma Kamali dress.
00:33 Nicole Chavez
00:36 styled me in this for Jimmy Kimmel.
00:40 I did it with Dax, and it was the scariest day of my life.
00:46 I was so so nervous, but I felt so good in this dress. So this blazer
00:54 was a hand-me-down. We call it a bell-me-down. Kristen gave it to me.
00:59 But before she had given it to me, I was getting it dry-cleaned for her,
01:05 and it was in the back seat of my car. This is when I was assisting her. It was hanging and
01:10 my windows were rolled down, which I did not realize, and the
01:18 jacket flew out of the car, and
01:23 I heard something, and I looked back, and I just saw the sleeve kind of
01:28 tattering away, and I had to pull over and run into traffic to get the jacket that was
01:34 in the middle of the street.
01:36 I didn't know if it was fancy, and it was hers, and I had just started working for her,
01:41 and I was like, "I'm gonna get fired because this jacket's gonna get run over."
01:45 It's a very special piece to me because I saved it, and
01:50 yeah, she gave it to me. Wasn't that special, turns out.
01:53 Okay, so this is a very basic sweatshirt, but I wear it all the time.
02:00 I love the color. It's a very
02:04 specific kind of mauve, and it's really worn in because I've had it forever. It's Elizabeth and James,
02:11 which was Mary-Kate and Ashley's
02:16 brand before the Row, so it feels very limited because this brand doesn't exist anymore, and it's some of the best-fitting.
02:24 I also have a t-shirt that's Elizabeth and James, and it's the best-fitting t-shirt I have.
02:29 So I'm pretty sad that they don't make these clothes anymore, but I have moved on to the Row, which
02:38 is a little bit higher of a price point, but that's okay. These are the Row pants, and I
02:45 wear them all the time. I mean, I think I wore them two days ago, which is why they are a little stained and
02:52 have wrinkles all over them. I didn't prepare well for this, obviously, so
02:57 I'm a little bit of a mess, but I wear these all the time. They were an investment,
03:03 but I've really got my money's worth because they go with everything, and I love them. They're so soft.
03:09 These are
03:12 red velvet.
03:14 Tom Ford pants. I got them last year to wear
03:19 to a University of Georgia football game. I went to the University of Georgia, and it's a huge football school.
03:27 The games are so fun, and
03:30 in the South,
03:33 you get dressed up for football games, so you wear like full-on
03:36 dresses, full face of makeup, heels to your tailgate, and then to the game, and
03:44 I got to go back to a football game this year, and I was like, you know,
03:49 what am I gonna wear? It has to be fancy, but it also has to be elevated. It's a new me,
03:55 and so I got these pants, and I love them, and they really worked.
04:00 This dress I got at the Paris flea market. I was
04:08 done shopping. I had got some furniture and some other little pieces, a little like bowl, and I
04:15 was done. I needed to be done, and I was walking to my Uber,
04:20 and I saw this in the window, and I thought, if this fits me, I have to have it, and
04:28 it fit me, so
04:31 I bought it, and I love it, and it feels so romantic to me.
04:37 It feels very
04:39 classic, and I feel like
04:42 she wore this. I feel like she actually wore it, like when I channel her when I'm in this.
04:49 This sweatshirt is maybe one I get the most compliments on whenever I wear it. It draws the eye.
04:57 It's from John and Vinny's, which is a
05:03 restaurant in Los Angeles. Very delicious. It's so good, and during the pandemic,
05:09 they had a little
05:12 store where you could buy
05:14 fruits. You could buy your groceries, basically, and then they had some other little things, and they had this sweatshirt,
05:20 and I was, like most people, pretty lost during the pandemic in buying any
05:25 sweatshirt or sweat pant that came across my screen, and this was one of them, and so I bought it, and it was
05:33 with
05:34 Project 43. I wish I could tell you that I knew what that meant and what it is. I do believe it to be
05:42 philanthropic,
05:45 and
05:46 yeah, so I love wearing it, and I love this little guy. It's a little bear on front.
05:51 Okay, so this is a sweater, also wrinkled.
05:57 I guess I should have said wrinkled as one of the three words that describe my style. This is very special.
06:04 Kristen brought this back
06:06 for me
06:08 from, I
06:10 want to say Italy or Paris, and it says "facts" on it because I'm the fact checker for my job, and
06:17 also, I believe in justice and facts.
06:23 This is a Brandon Maxwell
06:27 gorgeous dress,
06:29 gown we could say, that I found because, ding ding ding,
06:36 Hilary Kerr was wearing this on
06:40 Instagram, and I thought I must have that immediately, and so I bought it. It's beautiful.
06:47 I have not, it still has the tag on. I haven't worn it yet.
06:49 I'm saving it for a gala that I have not been invited to,
06:53 so, you know, putting it out there that if anyone invites me to a gala,
06:57 I will be wearing this dress, and I can't wait. This dress I love.
07:03 It's vintage. It's Fendi. I got it at this little Austin
07:09 vintage store that I sort of just came across.
07:13 It's super easy. I love a dress that you can just slip on, but it has
07:21 like a vibe to it. I love the collar, and
07:24 I normally pair this with a tennis shoe so that I could kind of high and low it, but I love this.
07:32 She's so pretty, and she's so easy.
07:35 Okay, so these pants are also from the vintage store in Austin.
07:41 I love a pleat. I just am a real sucker for it.
07:47 This sweater is from Alexandra Golovanov.
07:50 She has a store in Paris, and just makes the most beautiful cashmere sweaters.
07:56 I was there last year, and I got this one. I love the covered buttons on it.
08:01 It's cropped, but she has so many different styles, but they're all very classic,
08:05 and I feel like last you forever, and then I got some little Gucci loafers.
08:12 Cannot go wrong with a Gucci loafer. I love the white. I also have a white Gucci
08:17 Jackie bag that I feel like pairs really well with it. Okay, so these are
08:24 Jordans, and
08:27 Dax got really into Jordans, or he's always been into Jordans, I guess,
08:32 but he got into like gifting everyone a bunch of Jordans, which was very generous.
08:39 And these are my first pair that he got me. It's...
08:43 I forget the print. It's called like animal...
08:46 something, and they're so cool. As soon as they arrived, I was like, "Oh, I get it.
08:52 I get the need to like collect a sneaker."
08:54 So I have a few other pairs of Jordans too that I've since got, but these are my first ones, so they're special to me.
09:01 This is my
09:05 everyday bag. This green, I feel like, is
09:09 really rare. I haven't seen it since, since I bought it,
09:14 and I love it because it's so
09:18 classic, but the green kind of gives it something a little bit different.
09:22 I keep everything in here, and my laptop is currently in here. I keep the cord. I travel with this.
09:28 It's such a luxe bag, but it really
09:31 delivers. Like, it is durable. It comes everywhere with me, and
09:35 she's really pretty. These have never been worn in my adult life, but they probably are...
09:44 They're probably the two most important pieces in my entire home.
09:50 They are my state rings
09:53 from high school.
09:55 I was a cheerleader, a competition cheerleader in high school, and we won state my junior and senior year,
10:01 and they give you rings for that.
10:03 And they say my name. They say school. It was
10:07 such a big deal at the time, and still, it was sort of the first moment that I learned that hard work really does pay off.
10:15 So these are really, really important reminders to me. Now, this is all tangled. I tried,
10:23 before we recorded this video, I
10:26 solicited a lot of people in this room. There's more than just me in this room.
10:31 And to try to untangle it, and nobody could do it. But this is a
10:38 necklace that I love. I
10:42 stole
10:44 this pendant from my American Girl doll, Samantha.
10:48 She was wearing it on a teeny tiny chain, and I thought, "That is such a cute
10:55 necklace that this doll is wearing." So I ripped it off, and I put it on a real adult chain.
11:01 And I used to wear it all the time.
11:04 I haven't seen it in a bit, probably because it got all tangled, and I gave up on it. But
11:08 yeah, this is Samantha's
11:12 necklace.
11:13 This is a Chanel
11:16 Camellia
11:19 ring. I got this because I
11:23 would see really beautiful jewelry, and I would think, "Oh,
11:29 maybe one day
11:31 someone will buy that for me. Maybe one day for Valentine's Day, or for an anniversary, or
11:37 a man will buy this for me."
11:40 I was in Paris, and I was walking by, and I saw it, and I was in love with it.
11:46 And I thought, "Why am I waiting for that? There is absolutely no reason for me to
11:52 wait for somebody else to buy me this when I can buy myself this ring."
11:56 And so I did, and I love it. It's so pretty.
12:00 And
12:03 it kind of reminds me like,
12:05 you're good on your own. Not that there's nothing wrong with having a partner, but you can do things by yourself if you want.
12:13 Okay, so this necklace is
12:16 a peridot stone. That is my birthstone.
12:22 And my grandmother got me this when I was five.
12:26 My grandmother has an amazing jewelry collection. She's from India and has all this gold jewelry.
12:34 And so jewelry kind of means a lot to her. And so when I was five, she got me this, which I did not
12:42 appreciate until maybe like five or six years ago.
12:47 I saw this just like sitting in my jewelry box, and I thought,
12:52 "That is a gorgeous necklace. Why am I not wearing it?" And so I do now, and it reminds me of her.
12:59 And I love it. Those are some of my favorite pieces in my closet. Thanks for tuning in.
