LOVE at first glance, says Shannon Lawson, who was smitten with Dreamboys creative director Jordan Darrell even before he slid towards her on his knees on stage and gave her a lap dance. The pair met when Shannon saw Jordan perform and was quick to keep in touch before the end of the night. Fast forward a couple of years and the pair are engaged and have had their adorable son Ruben. But as much as it was a new love, it was also a new career for Shannon, who decided to get into exotic dancing herself after seeing Jordan strut his stuff while they were dating. Now, the couple are both working in the industry but are still being targeted by people online saying that they can't be good parents because of the work they do. Regardless of the judgment they receive, they say they have built their own family bubble and are thriving in their careers, refusing to let trolls stamp on the life they have built together. Shannon said: "The very first time I met Jordan was at one of his strip shows, my first thought and impression was that this guy is a bit of me." Jordan said: "I was a professional dancer and got into stripping by auditioning with my friend. We absolutely, in my words, killed that audition and then the rest is history, now I take my clothes off every day of the week." Shannon added "We just had a conversation one day and I said I really want to try it. I have tried other things, but stripping was like the one thing that I hadn't tried and I really did want to give it a go."

00:00 This is Shannon. She fell in love with Jordan.
00:04 I saw a pop-up ad thing for a Dreamboys show. I was just like, why not?
00:10 And when Shannon was invited up on stage by one of the strippers,
00:14 she never anticipated it would be love at first lap dance.
00:18 It beats everybody else's story where they're like, yeah, we met on Tinder.
00:21 Yeah, I met on a girls' night out to go and watch a bunch of strippers.
00:25 Taking inspiration from Jordan, Shannon also decided to explore an alternative career.
00:31 I got into stripping probably about a year ago now.
00:36 Which has raised quite a few eyebrows.
00:39 Some of the worst comments I've had because of being a stripper is mainly about being a mum.
00:45 So you should be ashamed of yourself. Your child is going to be disgusted with you.
00:51 Hey babe, did you ever think when we first met you'd have your very own Dreamboy cooking you breakfast?
01:02 Yeah, that's why I went to the show.
01:06 Four years ago, Shannon met Jordan while she was sitting in the audience.
01:11 And he was performing on stage with a dance troupe called the Dreamboys,
01:15 who are known for their striptease routines.
01:18 Literally the minute I saw him at the show, I got on my phone and stalked him on social media.
01:26 And I remember we were coming back from a break and me and my friend had got a drink.
01:30 And then the show had started again.
01:33 And a few of the boys started running down from the stage and scouting out girls.
01:40 And then just dragged me up on stage.
01:43 And the lights just literally went.
01:45 And then Jordan just came out, like sliding on his knees and like spun around in front of me.
01:52 Apparently he scouted me out.
01:56 And when Shannon attended a meet and greet after the show,
02:00 she bagged her Dreamboys mobile number and they were pretty much inseparable after their first date.
02:06 What a story to tell.
02:08 How we met. There was 900 people there that witnessed it.
02:12 It beats everybody else's story whether that, yeah, we met on Tinder.
02:16 Yeah, I met on a girls night out to go and watch a bunch of strippers.
02:20 We've been going on four years now and we have a ten month old son.
02:27 This cheeky chappie is Ruben, our son.
02:31 You want to say hello?
02:33 Say hi.
02:35 Give a smile.
02:36 Before I met Jordan, I was a healthcare assistant.
02:40 I'd always thought about a different career path, like stripping and the sex work industry.
02:46 So I approached Jordan and we had a conversation about it.
02:50 Kind of just looked around at clubs to find one that I was comfortable with.
02:55 Had a trial shift and I actually kind of fell in love with it.
02:59 I am a professional dancer who happens to strip at the moment.
03:03 When people ask what I do, I just full on go with, I'm a full on stripper.
03:08 Just to see their reaction and most of them are shocked, which I like. It's fun.
03:13 I am a stripper. I guess it kind of depends on the type of person you tell.
03:20 You will have some that will be like, oh cool, yeah.
03:22 And then you have some that will be like, oh, oh, like, are you forced into that?
03:27 Like, some of the worst comments I've had because of being a stripper is mainly being about being a mum.
03:35 So you should be ashamed of yourself, like your child is going to be disgusted with you.
03:42 Whereas comments for Jordan, the women will come in and be like, oh my God, I saw pictures of your son and he's so beautiful.
03:50 And you're a great dad and everything you do is amazing. And you look so good.
03:55 And you and your son look so perfect together.
03:58 We do look good together.
03:59 Very, very different type of comments and reactions to us together having a child.
04:07 Negativity, praise for doing the same thing, really.
04:11 I think it's your mum.
04:14 Mum? You alright?
04:16 Yeah.
04:17 Is that Nanny?
04:18 Yeah.
04:19 You're with Nanny?
04:20 Yeah.
04:21 This is good.
04:22 Thanks for looking after him so we can have a little time to ourselves, eh?
04:26 Yeah.
04:27 Bye.
04:29 We're just going to go for a date night, kind of just see how it takes us, see what happens, really.
04:41 Cheers, Bebe.
04:51 Cheers.
04:52 Here's to our first date night of 2022.
04:57 I love you.
04:59 Ah, we love you, stripper. I love you too, Bebe.
05:03 So tell me, why did you want to strip or decide to get into stripping after being with me?
05:13 Like, as I said, it was just something that I always kind of had an interest in and wanted to try.
05:21 Maybe I thought that because obviously you do it yourself, like, from a partner's perspective, you might understand it more.
05:30 So the thing that like mainly attracts me to stripping is the confidence it brings to women.
05:36 Like, you will have every different type of woman go in there and every woman in there is like made to feel beautiful.
05:43 Like, you all pick each other up. It's amazing.
05:47 Do you not care?
05:48 Maybe what?
05:49 Do you not care maybe what Ruben might think when it gets down to him when he's older or what people might say to him?
05:56 Not really, like, because I feel like we're always going to be open with him and express to him, like, to love your body and be confident and how, like, sex and everything is natural and...
06:08 Who cares what they think?
06:10 Exactly.
06:11 Cheers.
06:12 Cheers.
06:13 I actually enjoy some of her stories from work. Like, I look forward to coming home.
06:17 I find it actually brilliant, endearing and for me, it does help with my job as well.
06:24 So ready to get back in my comfies.
06:27 Let's get back. Get a fire going. Get a cup of tea.
06:32 How would you describe our journey over the past four years?
06:37 I would say very quick, fast moving.
06:41 Fast moving.
06:42 But like very naturally. Nothing felt rushed.
06:45 You happy?
06:46 Yeah, I wouldn't have it any other way.
06:48 I'll cheers your tea to that.
06:50 Cheers.
06:51 It makes me feel more comfortable and confident doing what I do to know that someone's got my back with it because they understand what it takes.
07:04 I feel like if you were just always a healthcare worker, it would have affected our relationship.
07:08 I don't think it would have worked in the end, in the long run, because we both would have worked such crazy, hectic jobs.
07:14 Like we would have never seen each other.
07:16 We just wouldn't have been on the same page.
07:18 We've achieved a lot that I've wanted to in life.
07:21 So again, to the naysayers, you know, and let's continue just taking our clothes off, bringing it into the family.
07:31 Last cheers of the night.
07:33 Thank you.
07:34 Love you, bye bye.
07:35 [Music]
07:45 We have two trans kids.
07:47 Anyone can be whoever they want.
07:49 I'm just owning it.
07:51 Our family is seen to be very unconventional.
07:56 So I had kids and I can't be hot anymore. Like moms are hot too.
08:00 People say I look like a thug, but I love thugs. I take that as a compliment.
08:04 I'm bored of people thinking that I cannot be intimate.
08:08 I'm a young, single, hot piece of disabled booty.
08:11 I feel like I'm going to look at myself and be like, "Who is that?"
08:16 [Music]
08:20 Life is way too short to be hiding.
08:22 It is my story. It is my truth.
