Victorian opposition health spokeswoman speaks on hospital redevelopment
Transcript
00:00 Thank you, Mr Speaker. I just wanted to note that on the next day of meeting I will move that this
00:03 House notes 1) the Victorian Government's refusal to publicly provide the latest Albury-Wodonga
00:09 Health Clinical Services Plan and Master Plan that contain the precise number of points of
00:13 care including but not restricted to bed numbers, operating theatres and dialysis chairs;
00:18 2) the Victorian Government's failure to thoroughly investigate geotechnical faults
00:22 before committing to a multi-million dollar brownfield redevelopment on the Albury campus
00:26 site; 3) the Service Planning and previously released 2021 Master Plan identified that the
00:31 current Albury Hospital buildings are not fit for purpose; 4) the significant concerns of clinicians
00:37 and the broader community that the redevelopment will not meet the needs of a catchment expected to
00:41 grow to 300,000 within 10 years; 5) the fears of the Border Medical Association, a group of highly
00:50 respected health professionals in Albury-Wodonga, that stage one of the brownfield development is
00:55 being tailored to a budget rather than the projected needs for points of care and theatres;
01:00 6) the failures to address the wide-ranging concerns of the Border Medical Association
01:04 and Albury-Wodonga community over the cost and potential pitfalls of redeveloping the
01:08 Albury campus as opposed to a greenfield build; and calls on the Government to release
01:12 the latest Master and Clinical Services Plans to address these concerns before any further work is
01:18 completed on the $558 million brownfield redevelopment at the Albury campus of Albury-Wodonga
01:24 Health. Mr. LeChang.
01:25 Thank you.
