00:00 How big of a Bob Marley fan are you?
00:01 Are you kidding me?
00:03 Between reading One Love Now to Noah
00:05 and singing it like all of my life,
00:08 it's just, what an icon.
00:11 This movie really tells about the love story
00:13 between Bob and Rita, and it is amazing
00:16 that they had a very different love story,
00:18 but it was important.
00:19 How hard is it when you are a star
00:22 to have a normal love life?
00:24 It's as normal as you want it to be,
00:28 whatever normal is, you know what I mean?
00:30 I feel like love between two people
00:34 is what they want it to be.
00:36 And you know, in me and my husband's relationship,
00:40 we try to be as functional as possible,
00:42 you know what I mean?
00:43 You hit the jackpot, you got a great husband.
00:45 You have a great husband.
00:46 I have a wonderful husband.
00:48 I love him so much.
00:50 And I'm so grateful that I thought enough of myself
00:52 to choose him, because he's such a good guy.
00:55 He's such a good man.
00:57 He is a great man.
00:58 All right, what are y'all doing for Valentine's Day?
01:01 I'll actually be on a press run for "Mia Coppa,"
01:04 a movie that I've done with Tyler Perry.
01:06 And I will be in New York.
01:10 Tell me about the movie.
01:12 I'm super excited.
01:13 It's myself and Trevante Rhodes,
01:16 and I'm basically a defense attorney,
01:19 and I have a new client,
01:24 and there is a lot of energy
01:26 between myself and this client,
01:27 and I'm supposed to really, really get him off.
01:30 What did you think of the Grammy's and Jay's speech?
01:32 I don't want to embarrass this young lady,
01:33 but she has more Grammys than everyone
01:35 and never won Album of the Year.
01:38 So even by your own metrics, that doesn't work.
01:40 Think about that.
01:43 The most Grammys, never won Album of the Year.
01:46 That doesn't work.
01:47 Sean Carter is one of the greatest men I know.
01:53 And his words ring so loud to me,
01:57 and I couldn't be more proud of him.
02:01 And I'm just really happy for a lot of things that he said.
02:06 I think that he made a lot of artists feel very seen
02:10 and very heard in those minutes that he took on stage.
02:14 Whether you carried some of that for years or a year
02:18 or felt some sort of way about that,
02:21 and it's no disrespect, as he said,
02:24 it's just more so thinking of new ways
02:27 to whether it's vote or come together for new artists
02:30 and what are the rules, how do they apply?
02:33 It's really a big moment
02:40 when you go to the Grammys as a kid.
02:42 You're voted for by your peers,
02:44 and you're not thinking of everything else
02:47 that's attached to it.
02:49 And that's like the peak of a career.
02:52 You know what I mean?
02:53 So you just, we're grateful for the opportunities
02:57 and my moments on stage and the Grammys for sure.
03:01 I think that it has to evolve.
03:04 - Do you think that Beyonce's too far ahead of the curve
03:07 because of the things that she has done?
03:09 No, no, what I'm saying is she has moved everything forward
03:12 each and every time with those last few albums.
03:14 And I wonder, is she too far ahead of the curve
03:17 'cause she's moving stuff forward,
03:18 and she's doing something
03:19 that everybody will copy later on.
03:21 Now everybody's sounding like Lemonade years later.
03:24 Now everybody wants to dance music.
03:25 - I understand what you're saying.
03:27 You know, I think that that is a gift.
03:29 She is an icon, the icon that she is,
03:32 and that's for a reason.
03:33 It's because she starts trends.
03:35 She is innovative.
03:37 Her thoughts are big and bright,
03:40 and she just jumps for 'em and does it.
03:42 You know what I mean?
03:43 And I think that her albums are a reflection of that.
03:47 It should be really celebrated in that way.
03:52 Album of the Year a couple times.
03:54 You know what I mean?
03:55 - There's three I can think of right off,
03:56 there's three, three without a doubt.
03:58 - I'm not saying that because it's my sister.
03:59 I'm saying it because it's the truth.
04:01 And I've seen the blood, sweat, and tears
04:03 that she puts into these projects,
04:05 and her thoughts, and her heart,
04:07 and her passion, and her soul.
04:09 I just, but you know what?
04:12 The way people honor her,
04:15 and the way they show up for her,
04:17 it's all I think she sees,
04:19 and she sees it from her heart.
04:20 So I think when you honor her,
04:22 and you are kind, and you go out,
04:23 and you support the way people did for the movie,
04:26 the way they wore all silver,
04:28 that's the way she's like,
04:30 you know, she sees that,
04:31 and I'm sure her heart is full.
04:33 You know what I mean?
04:34 So I think that sometimes that's all you need.
04:36 It doesn't necessarily have to be a piece of metal,
04:39 you know what I mean,
04:40 that is beautifully sculpted.
04:42 It can also be the people.
04:44 That support you,
04:45 and they ride or die for you,
04:47 the way that beehive does.
04:49 They don't play, don't ever, I know.
04:52 Yeah, for sure.
04:53 (upbeat music)
04:56 (upbeat music)
04:58 (upbeat music)
