00:03 In-state showdown between Virginia and Virginia Tech.
00:08 At this time yesterday, the Wahoos were a top 25 team.
00:12 They got out of the AP poll, bounced out of it,
00:14 entering last night's matchup against the Hokies.
00:17 And going to Blacksburg is no easy trip,
00:21 as Virginia found out last night.
00:23 75-41, the victory for Va Tech.
00:28 The Hokies cover as a 3 and 1/2 point home favorite.
00:32 Donnie, it was a line we looked at yesterday and said,
00:34 you can read the numbers.
00:36 That line is 3 and 1/2 in favor of Va Tech for a reason.
00:40 They made good on being the favored side at home.
00:43 Exactly.
00:44 Like Virginia came in 11 and 4 in conference play in that game.
00:47 You take a look at Virginia Tech out here at 6 and 8
00:49 in conference, say, well, what gives at this point here?
00:51 Well, this is still, as we say, it's
00:53 hard to win on the road, particularly
00:54 in a rivalry situation, which Virginia and Virginia Tech
00:57 find themselves in.
00:58 But the one thing I always get back to,
01:00 you beg for Virginia to be efficient every single game
01:03 in a slowdown tempo, which always leaves you
01:05 very little margin for error, which
01:07 means you could get upset, which we've seen them quite
01:09 a few times, in NCAA action against an inferior opponent.
01:12 If you limit the possessions, the other team
01:14 shoots the lights out, there's really a tough chance
01:16 or really an impossible shot that you might not only
01:19 get upset but also not be moving on at that point.
01:21 But having said that from the game last night,
01:23 this wasn't one of those like, hey, man,
01:24 we just didn't get up possessions, 48-47 loss.
01:27 Like, no, you got hammered in this basketball game.
01:29 And the efficiency that we usually expect from Virginia,
01:32 17 of 52 from the floor, which is only 32%,
01:36 which they actually shoot from a percentage-wise, Ben,
01:39 in ACC play better than anybody in the conference.
01:42 They shot 16% from long range shooting, 2 of 12.
01:45 And we talk about, OK, we were being physical, not enough.
01:48 Only seven total free throw attempts.
01:50 They got wasted last night.
01:51 We thought, Ben, Virginia Tech would win this game
01:53 and be live just based on the line.
01:55 But I didn't see this type of blow out there in Blacksburg.
