00:00 Plant-based meat has a fatal flaw. Its worst tasting products aren't actually healthier than the real thing according to entrepreneur Bryce Klein.
00:07 To fix the problem, the 29 year old and his best friend want to reinvent the wheel of plant-based meat by adding real animal fat back in.
00:14 After years of eating microwaved Amy's vegetable korma, Klein told Fortune he struggled with finding quick and fulfilling vegetarian meals.
00:20 So he ventured out to solve the problem. Plant-based proteins just don't taste like the animal kind.
00:25 Klein joined forces with his college friend Sabah Faseli to start Choppy, a company designed to make meat alternatives accessible to every shopper.
00:32 But here's the catch. The two friends are creating plant-based meats made of 90% plants and 10% animal parts.
00:38 So they are literally adding meat back into plant-based meat.
00:41 And their portfolio currently includes chopped steak, pulled pork, and carne asada.
