00:03 Mental health is a problem.
00:09 No one talks about it because it's scary.
00:11 I mean, it's not something that you can see.
00:13 It's not visible.
00:16 One black boy dying really shakes the whole city.
00:20 That's somebody's son.
00:22 I always had pressure on me to be something that I wasn't.
00:27 We need to talk.
00:29 This podcast is about teens saying enough is enough.
00:32 I had an eating disorder for five years,
00:41 and that's because I kept silent about it.
00:45 I didn't need this research investigation
00:48 to conclude that, hey, Instagram is bad for me.
00:52 But it's like this silent addiction that creeps up on you.
00:57 Children are using Instagram to self-soothe,
01:00 but then are exposed to more and more content that
01:02 makes them hate themselves.
01:05 Sharing my story helped me recover
01:08 and helped me accept myself.
01:11 You can literally start improving
01:14 the lives of humanity by speaking and being honest
01:19 about what you've been through.
01:21 It's the hardships that make you breathe.
01:24 It's the hardships that build you up and prepare you
01:27 for whatever is next.
01:31 You shouldn't be ashamed to talk about what's
01:32 going on in your head, because it doesn't make you
01:34 any less tough.
01:35 It just makes you human.
01:37 Most of what we need is just someone to listen
01:39 and someone who will take the time to try to understand
01:43 and to try to help us get help.
01:48 This is our turn to talk.
