A pair of endangered Bell's turtles were born through the University of New England conservation program - a 1-in-3000 event.

00:21 There's also very few adult turtles
00:23 and the adults that are there are quite old.
00:27 So we're very worried about the Bell's turtles in that population.
00:31 Well, when the turtles started hatching this season,
00:34 one of the containers had six eggs
00:37 and we ended up with seven babies.
00:39 And at first I thought, oh no, someone's made a mistake.
00:42 But no, when I investigated more closely,
00:47 yeah, two babies had come out of the one egg.
00:50 They're the twins who are half the size of their siblings.
00:54 Yeah, and they're doing really well.
00:57 Hopefully they'll catch up with their siblings as time goes by.
