00:00 It's a youth service event for 11 to 18 year olds who live on the Kingswood or Hazel Lees estate.
00:06 The idea is that they'll come in, get information from different services and then have a bit of free food
00:12 and a voucher at the end once they've spoken to 5 out of the 10 services.
00:17 We held an event just before Christmas where local families from the community came and got similar advice
00:26 from different services and then got a Christmas hamper at the end.
00:30 So I just thought it would be a good idea to let the youth of the estate know what's around for them.
00:36 KUD Project, we've got loads of different activities going on at the moment.
00:40 We've got in the very early stages of a youth voice group.
00:45 So one of the key things about this event was trying to get the older age group from 11 to 18 to engage
00:52 because a lot of our activities it's younger age group that engage.
00:56 So we just found it was key to get the older age group in.
01:00 So we've got Corby Mind, Youth Works, NatWest Bank, the British Army,
01:07 we've got Stop Smoking, Community Safety, so loads of different partners that we already work with
01:16 who have given up their time to come in, support the event and give information to the young people.
01:22 I think it's been a success. I think the weather's maybe put a little bit of a dab on it.
01:27 Yesterday I was putting on a football session in the skate park and the mugger were full of kids
01:31 that I spoke to about coming today.
01:33 So I think the weather's put a little bit of a dab on it but overall I think it's been really good.
01:38 We've had 35-40 young people come to the event, engaging, so it's been really amazing.
01:44 So we've got one of our young people with us today, Francesca, just got a couple of questions to ask you.
01:50 How did you hear about the event today?
01:52 Just a bunch of... My mum found out online about a bunch of people talking about it on Facebook and all that.
02:00 What have you enjoyed about the event?
02:02 Just letting young people to express themselves and see if they want to like...
02:11 I can't explain. It's like they want young people to find what they want to do when they grow up and all that.
02:20 What have you enjoyed the most?
02:22 Like, kind of see what I would love to do in the future, like with the army and the workforce and all that.
02:31 So with the event today we're hopefully going to have these activities outside.
02:36 Obviously the rain has put an end to that, so at the moment in the youth room we've got skateboarding and basketball sessions going on.
02:43 And these sessions are going to start in April.
02:46 Posters and stuff will go out for those at the time.
02:49 Currently we've got Premier League Kicks, which is run by Northampton Town Community Trust on a Monday night.
02:56 We have a KUD football session on a Tuesday, which is for the younger age group that can't attend the Monday night session.
03:04 On a Thursday we've got multi-sports and then we've also got the youth club on a Thursday evening.
03:13 Come April we're going to have a few more activities going on.
03:16 So we're going to have basketball, skateboarding, calisthenic bars and girls' fitness.
