00:06 >> The NASCAR Campus Lab is a new initiative really focused
00:09 on career development
00:10 and creating real-world experience for college students.
00:13 The inaugural program is taking place
00:15 at Bethune-Cookman University, which is just down the street
00:18 from our headquarters here in Daytona Beach, Florida.
00:19 There are three pillars to the program, mentorship,
00:24 a curated learning environment where the students are going
00:27 to get an opportunity to build out their own marketing
00:30 activation, understand managing a budget
00:32 and seeing their vision come to life,
00:34 as well as a case study project.
00:36 This program is starting off with the race weekend immersion.
00:41 >> So every camera that's out there is --
00:44 comes back to a record device.
00:45 And it's ISOed here so that we can go and look at it.
00:47 >> Fifty percent.
00:49 Wow.
00:50 >> This will really lay the foundation
00:53 for what the students can expect throughout the entire semester
00:58 but also will give them kind of insights
01:00 into what NASCAR looks like.
01:04 >> Driver, start your engine.
01:09 >> I think we're getting just the opportunity
01:15 to experience something new.
01:16 I think it'll bring opportunities for our students also
01:20 to realize that NASCAR is right here
01:22 and there's opportunities for them there as well.
01:24 >> It gets them outside of the classroom.
01:27 It allows them to apply their skills that they've learned
01:30 in the classroom in real life situations.
01:32 It also provides networking opportunities for them
01:35 to be able to see what's beyond college.
01:38 >> I never knew how replays worked after this.
01:41 It's like being able to find the exact right clip.
01:44 >> There are a lot of people here who want to see us succeed.
01:47 They genuinely want to see us develop and grow
01:50 as business professionals.
01:51 Being able to just pick the minds
01:53 of everybody that's around here.
01:54 >> Anything that you want to do, you can accomplish it
01:59 and you can make it happen.
02:00 Over-communicate.
02:02 Don't be afraid to be told no.
02:04 Believe in yourself and I promise you,
02:07 you can accomplish it.
02:09 >> I hope the one takeaway you guys have today is
02:11 that everybody watches television and they go,
02:14 "I want to be that."
02:15 But I hope you guys took away today there's so many jobs
02:18 that make a television show happen
02:20 that there's something here for everybody.
02:22 >> We are always looking to develop the next generation.
02:26 We hope that the students walk away
02:28 with not only a greater understanding
02:30 of the career opportunities within the sport,
02:32 but also just a greater appreciation
02:35 for how much fun it is.
02:37 I mean, it's going to be pretty hard not to fall in love
02:39 with the sport when you're watching racing at DIS.
02:42 >> So when that car come in, I got to jump in front of the car
02:50 and before that car can barely even stop, I got to have
02:52 that car up in the air.
02:53 And then I transition to the next side and do the same thing.
02:56 We changing four tires, four tank of fuel in eight seconds.
02:58 >> What made you initially be interested
03:03 in working for NASCAR?
03:04 >> It was different.
03:06 Always kind of been somebody to do something different.
03:08 I felt like there was a lot of opportunity.
03:09 I went to a race, had a chance to go to a race, and like,
03:12 I got chills, like my first race I got chills.
03:15 So this is pretty cool.
03:15 >> So this is the College Corner area
03:19 as it currently exists, okay?
03:21 Your case study prompt is, you know,
03:24 how do you think Daytona International Speedway can
03:27 really scale this up, build this up to make it more enticing,
03:31 more engaging to increase ticket sales
03:35 and just energy around this space?
03:38 >> I'm a little bit concerned that we might not be able
03:42 to see the cars.
03:42 Other than that, it's amazing.
03:44 >> All right, we're blown away.
03:45 >> NASCAR is looking for new ideas and fresh perspective,
03:50 and I think that's part of what the two projects
03:54 that the students will be working on are kind of based on.
03:56 We want to see, in their view, what is going
03:59 to get their fellow students excited about NASCAR.
04:02 >> We're super excited you guys are here
04:03 and you're making this extra time on our behalf.
04:06 And I'm hopeful with your case studies you come up with some stuff
04:08 that actually help us rethink some of this as well.
04:10 So thank you for making the time on this.
04:13 We're going to have fun.
