Relentless Steak & Lobster House bring back gold leafed steak

The Port Solent restaurant have reintroduced the gold leafed steak to their menu, a dish made famous by Salt Bae.

00:21 OK, but you were here last time that the Goldstoke came out?

00:23 I was here when we first originally launched the Goldstoke.

00:25 Yeah, and what made you bring it back?

00:27 We've had a lot of people requesting it over the last three or four months now,

00:32 so we thought maybe it's time to bring it back and see how we do with it.

00:35 Yeah, and how has it been popular?

00:37 We're doing roughly one or two a week at the moment, so we're doing a few, yeah.

00:41 Yeah, OK, no problem.

00:43 Obviously it's quite a status symbol, obviously Salt Bae was a person who was famous

00:47 with his own restaurant in London and Dubai.

00:51 In terms of the actual gold leaf, does it actually, from a taste point of view,

00:55 does it add anything, is that a texture or taste to it?

00:57 There's not really enhanced taste majorly at all,

01:02 but as I say, it's more of a wow factor, more of a symbol.

01:06 Yeah, yeah, perfect.

01:08 And I suppose you do two or three a week, but what are going to be most popular menu items?

01:13 At the moment, our most popular is Steak Experience, which includes tomahawk,

01:18 two fillet, two sirloin, two sides, two sauces and two chips.

01:23 We are currently toying with the idea of doing the gold experience,

01:26 so all the steaks on that dish will be gold leafed as well.

01:29 OK, perfect. So of the people that have picked the gold leaf, what's the response been?

01:35 As far as we're at at the moment, it's enjoying it.

01:38 Nothing but massive raves about it, so we should continue doing it from now on.

01:42 Perfect, great. And obviously Salt Bae, as you can't emulate Salt Bae with this dish,

01:50 obviously you've become quite notorious as well, turning up at commercial events and things.

01:53 I mean, if Pompey win the league this year, you're going to try and get on the pitch

01:56 and take some selfies with the players?

01:58 Probably not, no. As for myself, I'm not a massive football fan anyway,
