00:23 The incident occurred at around 9.25 pm with the attackers setting off a bomb near the
00:27 eastern side of the AMSU office.
00:29 The victims were rushed to the hospital where Oenam Kennegy, aged 24, succumbed to his injuries
00:35 while Salam Michael, also 24, is currently undergoing treatment.
00:39 The police is actively investigating the incident but have not identified any perpetrators yet.
00:45 Prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CRPC have been in place in the area since
00:50 10 September 2022 due to ongoing dispute.
00:54 Whereas in another incident, unidentified individuals vandalised and set fire to the
01:00 administrative section of a school in M-Fall East District at around 12.45 am on Saturday.
01:06 Additionally, a vehicle parked on the premises was also destroyed in the arson attack.
01:11 Meanwhile, the Manipur High Court has ordered the removal of a paragraph from the decision
01:15 issued back in March 2023 which had directed the state government to consider including
01:21 Meithi community in the Scheduled Tribe ST list.
01:25 The court deemed the paragraph contrary to the direction by the Supreme Court in the
01:29 matter, suggesting that it contributed to the ethnic conflict in the state, resulting
01:34 in the loss of over 200+ lives.
01:37 Justice Golme Gayafil Shilloo's single bench removed the contentious paragraph during a
01:42 review petition hearing on Wednesday.
01:44 Last year's decision had urged the state government to expedite consideration of including
01:49 the Meithi community in the ST list following requests from petitioners.
01:53 The paragraph in last year's decision stated that if the state government received orders
01:57 to include the Meithi community in the ST list within four weeks of the date of the
02:01 order, it will consider the matter expeditiously.
