The first full trailer for Kevin Costner's 'Horizon: An American Saga' is here. The project is a wildly ambitious, four-part post-Civil War Western epic. Costner co-wrote, directed and stars in it. During a moderated discussion about the 'Horizon' trailer, Costner said of making the Western, "These are real lives. People just making their way, women just trying to keep their families clean and fed…I'm drawn to that. I'm always gonna get to my gunfight, but I'm drawn to the little things that people had to endure."

00:25 I know the man I met was on his way to kill everyone in that house, so he might as well have been walking up to get the mail for all it bothered him."
00:32 During a moderated discussion about the Horizon trailer, Costner said of making the Western,
00:36 "These are real lives. People just making their way, women just trying to keep their families clean and fed. I'm drawn to that.

00:58 that's going to stop those wagons coming, as little as they're wanted."
01:04 The project has been a 30-year journey for Costner, who even took out a loan on his Santa Barbara home to help finance it.

01:13 "Haven't had much need of it yet."
01:15 Much of Horizon's press has revolved around how the film has impacted Costner's work on the Paramount Network hit series Yellowstone.
01:21 The show's team complained that working on Horizon made Costner less available for the series,
01:25 while the actors' team has blamed Yellowstone's script delays.
01:28 In either case, it's very unclear if Costner will return to the show to finish patriarch John Dutton's storyline
01:33 when the show eventually returns for the second half of its fifth season.
01:36 Paramount has announced those remaining episodes will end the series.
