00:15 And welcome to Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
00:23 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
00:26 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
00:30 Welcome to the program.
00:31 [APPLAUSE]
00:34 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
00:36 Two of the most beautiful women in the world,
00:38 two of my favorite women in the world.
00:40 And I'm talking about Belle Daza and Gloria Diaz.
00:43 [APPLAUSE]
00:46 Hi, Tito Boy.
00:50 Hi.
00:50 Hi, hi, Belle.
00:51 Thanks for having us.
00:52 I'm really happy to see both of you.
00:54 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
00:55 I look forward to this moment.
00:56 We are so--
00:57 It's not often.
00:58 Yeah.
00:58 Not often, especially when you told me
01:00 that I had a facelift.
01:02 I missed that.
01:04 Please, please, Gloria.
01:06 Belle, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:07 This doesn't happen very often, so thank you
01:11 for this privilege.
01:13 No, we're so happy to be here.
01:15 What is that all the trophies for?
01:16 All the trophies.
01:17 We won all these trophies.
01:18 OK, OK.
01:19 Yeah, and we're just one year old.
01:20 Thank you for the recognition.
01:22 And thank you for noticing, Gloria.
01:24 I noticed.
01:25 Where's my trophy?
01:26 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:27 Well, we can make one.
01:30 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:34 Not [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:35 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:36 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:37 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:38 [LAUGHTER]
01:40 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:41 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:42 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:43 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:44 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:45 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:46 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:47 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:48 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:49 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:50 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:51 Of course, I don't want to lose, OK?
01:52 OK, of course.
01:53 And then, maybe now, in my old age, it's important.
01:57 But nobody sent it to the Philippines?
01:59 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:00 Well, somebody took it home, right?
02:02 I have no idea.
02:03 But you would-- yeah, she would rather die
02:06 than pay overweight luggage.
02:07 I mean, only you, actually.
02:09 [LAUGHTER]
02:10 But I have the crown.
02:12 You have the crown.
02:13 Which every makeup artist, when they come to make her up,
02:16 or me, when we were little, can we take a picture?
02:19 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:20 [LAUGHTER]
02:21 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:23 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:24 OK, but I'm told that in your house,
02:26 there's this huge photo of you in [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:29 Still there?
02:30 Yes.
02:31 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:32 She has a shrine of herself.
02:34 And then, now, we've taken over it.
02:35 Oh, a few.
02:36 A few of my kids.
02:37 We've taken over it.
02:38 You know, just before we started the show, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:41 Yikes.
02:42 You know, if you think I'm bossy, she's a dictator.
02:45 I love this.
02:46 Is that how it is, Belle?
02:48 Well, I just try to, like, keep her, you know,
02:51 not too controversial.
02:53 [LAUGHTER]
02:54 But then again, I'm not a lot of controversial stuff.
02:56 Because she says anything.
02:57 She just has no filter.
02:58 Boy, I've been offered many talk shows before.
03:01 Please, mom.
03:02 No, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
03:03 You might make a mistake.
03:04 Can you--
03:05 Can I make a confession?
03:06 What?
03:07 I know we worked together for a long time.
03:08 But I will really think 10 times doing a talk show with you.
03:12 [LAUGHTER]
03:13 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
03:14 No.
03:15 I have been with my children.
03:17 Even in Instagram, I cannot say something.
03:19 And then--
03:20 I'm like, delete that right now.
03:21 Delete.
03:22 Delete now.
03:23 Take it down.
03:24 OK?
03:25 I don't want hassle anymore.
03:26 My sister has the password to her Instagram.
03:28 So they just delete.
03:29 Oh, Ava.
03:30 You're talking about Ava.
03:31 Yeah, Ava.
03:32 OK, so she controls.
03:33 Yeah.
03:34 Well, my mom--
03:35 Both.
03:36 Both.
03:37 I'm like, delete this now.
03:38 [LAUGHTER]
03:39 It's the reverse.
03:40 The roles have reversed.
03:41 OK, but Belle, what have you become because of your mother?
03:44 Oh, OK.
03:45 My mother has shaped me into being somebody
03:49 who values relationships, education,
03:54 and traveling with kids, teaching them about that.
03:57 And I think also understanding that it's not
04:01 about how much money you make, but how much you're able to save.
04:04 Save.
04:05 Yes, that's the number one thing.
04:06 What have you become because of your own mother?
04:09 Ah, my mother was the same way.
04:11 She's not impressed with anyone.
04:14 She says, they're all the same.
04:16 And she's not impressed with name brands and this.
04:19 You buy what you can afford.
04:21 That's true.
04:22 And you buy what you like.
04:25 Almost instant gratification cannot relate to me.
04:32 Tell them how I always go to a store, I want to buy something,
04:36 and I reserve it.
04:37 And my daughter says, mom, you have so many reservations.
04:40 Before in Jiriatan--
04:41 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:42 --we would go shopping.
04:43 And then we'd go to the store.
04:45 And then she'd be like, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:48 This one time I was there with my friends.
04:50 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:52 Oh my god.
04:54 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:55 But that's how she is.
04:56 Before she buys something, she really thinks about it
04:59 because she knows how difficult it is to earn that money.
05:03 And not only that.
05:04 Maybe I already have it, but I have not unpacked it.
05:07 That's what happens, especially now, I have changed a little.
05:11 I always say, yo, lo, I'm 72.
05:16 I better buy it now.
05:18 And then I get home, Shiza, I have the same thing.
05:22 You like the same thing, mom.
05:23 Yeah, of course I like the same things.
05:26 But that's life, especially when you're abroad.
05:29 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:30 Yeah, you've done very few interviews.
05:32 But every time I watch your interviews,
05:34 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:36 To be happy, to be social.
05:40 I mean, sorry for the use of the word social.
05:42 Look at Gloria Diaz.
05:43 She's not obsessed with brands.
05:45 She's not obsessed with money.
05:47 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:50 And you know, you're really very kind.
05:53 I don't know about kind.
05:54 No, no, but you're very kind.
05:56 I can also be unkind.
05:57 No, but you are kind.
05:59 You know why?
06:00 One experience sticks to my mind.
06:02 And you may not even remember this.
06:04 You were in a restaurant in Rockwell.
06:06 And the restaurant was full.
06:08 I don't know if you remember that.
06:09 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:10 I was with a friend or two.
06:12 We were like three.
06:13 And there was an extra table.
06:15 And you told them--
06:16 I mean, guys at the restaurant, you can give it to boy.
06:19 That's not kind.
06:20 That's kind.
06:21 I'm just pushing my weight around.
06:22 No?
06:23 She was so funny.
06:24 She was really so funny.
06:25 And they were trying to prank you guys, I think, right?
06:27 Or something.
06:28 You know, they did everything to us.
06:31 They did everything to us.
06:32 But I don't think anything can frazzle your mom.
06:35 No, no, that's true.
06:37 Nothing upsets me.
06:39 I'm so happy to be everywhere, everywhere.
06:42 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:43 And you're not whining.
06:44 You're not complaining.
06:45 Never, never, never.
06:46 Especially when it comes to work.
06:48 See, Paul Bassel does you.
06:50 Yes, he's there.
06:51 And you're the most loyal woman in the world.
06:53 [LAUGHTER]
06:54 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:55 Yeah, I was going to say that I think one thing I also learned
06:58 from my mom is work ethic.
07:00 I remember I was doing my first ever commercial.
07:04 And I came home at 3 AM.
07:06 I was so tired.
07:07 You came at 5.
07:08 Yeah, I was so tired.
07:09 And I was like-- no, no, no.
07:11 Aside from the commercial, I was also doing taping.
07:13 And I was so tired.
07:14 And I said, I never want to do this.
07:17 It's so tiring.
07:18 I have to cry, la, la, la.
07:19 And then she just said, don't make quitting showbiz a problem.
07:24 If you quit today, no one will remember you.
07:26 I told her that because nobody cares.
07:28 And then she's like, I've seen the biggest stars come and go.
07:32 And you're replaceable.
07:35 And it just hit me, the humility and awareness.
07:40 I was like, that's so true.
07:41 You always say that.
07:42 We talk about so many things.
07:43 But you're not obsessed about staying there and winning.
07:48 Another story that stuck to my mind,
07:50 your story that when you win Miss Universe,
07:54 for example, you're supposed to turn--
07:57 The digital BS.
07:58 --the next girl.
07:59 And everybody forgets you.
08:01 They pushed me practically off the stage.
08:03 And then I was ready to go home that night.
08:06 They took my limousine.
08:08 So, my parents were there.
08:11 They had the car.
08:12 They took the limousine to give it to the other girl,
08:14 the stretch limo.
08:16 You go in, you're crowned.
08:18 They took it.
08:19 And then they gave me 24 hours to vacate my suite.
08:23 Look at it.
08:24 So, at 18 years old, that's a real lesson.
08:28 And coming from that experience, she sees life, it is what it is.
08:32 And talking about Miss Universe,
08:33 I know you've spoken about this, but the laws have changed.
08:36 Right?
08:37 I know.
08:38 The age limit is gone.
08:39 Height requirements.
08:40 You can be a mother.
08:42 You can be--
08:43 The pitch, of course, is inclusiveness, etc.
08:47 What is your take, Bel?
08:49 This is a very controversial topic.
08:52 And this is probably a very unpopular opinion.
08:56 But I agree with what my mom said before
09:01 where if it's Miss Universe, and they're just, I guess, including everybody,
09:05 then it should just be Universe, right?
09:08 I guess there was some sort of--
09:11 You can join.
09:13 Yeah?
09:14 If you say glory, I will.
09:16 Join!
09:18 There was some sort of barrier.
09:21 But, of course, inclusivity and equality, I'm all for that.
09:25 I like what Caitlyn Jenner said before.
09:28 She said that people mistake fighting for equality and fighting for fairness
09:33 to be the same thing, right?
09:35 So if you have, let's say, transgenders in sports,
09:38 it's not necessarily fair.
09:41 Does it make sense?
09:42 Yeah.
09:43 I got into that debate because of the biological makeup of athletes.
09:47 Basically, in ordinary words,
09:49 transvestites need to have a Miss Transvestite Universe.
09:54 Tomboy, Miss Tomboy Universe.
09:57 Transgender, lesbian.
09:59 Whatever, all the politically correct, it's up to them.
10:03 In Miss Universe, it should be Miss Universe, but it's different now.
10:07 Because now, let's say, you join once, you're a bit defeated.
10:11 You can see your nose, it's a bit--
10:13 Okay, do it right.
10:15 If it's not right, raise your boobs.
10:17 So do you like that, Glory?
10:19 I'm open for other people, but not for me, not for my daughter.
10:24 I told Bell, "If you join Miss Universe, I'll take care of you.
10:29 If you lose, I'll scandalize them all."
10:32 That's the reason she didn't join.
10:35 "Mom, I know you'll do that."
10:37 I think during her time in 1969,
10:40 everybody really joined for their beauty and not an altered appearance, I guess.
10:45 No, and it was not too financially motivated.
10:49 Yes, it wasn't necessarily commercial.
10:51 The standards of beauty were different.
10:52 Most of the people that joined were between 18 to about 23.
10:58 When you're 23 years old, they'll introduce you,
11:01 "The oldest candidate at 23 years old!"
11:04 Who said that?
11:05 Yes, that's how they'll introduce you.
11:07 Now, it's not like that.
11:08 But you know what I can't forget also about your badge?
11:10 The way you guys walk.
11:12 It is different.
11:13 Yes, it's simple.
11:15 Simple, right?
11:16 I guess also times have changed and things have evolved, which is good.
11:20 But what doesn't change on the show is fast talk.
11:22 And I want to do this with you.
11:24 Okay?
11:25 This is not too controversial.
11:27 Be careful.
11:28 I'm trying.
11:30 Before we started, Belle told me,
11:33 "Mama, don't say anything like this."
11:36 "Belle, you haven't changed."
11:38 Okay, let's start.
11:41 We have two minutes to do this and our time begins now.
11:44 Glory, bad look or wet look?
11:46 Wet look.
11:48 Prankang mataray?
11:49 Mataray.
11:50 Because a man is a woman, a woman is a man.
11:52 Because a woman.
11:53 Best actress, best mom?
11:54 Best mom.
11:56 Money or awards?
11:57 Maybe money.
11:59 Me too.
12:01 You were Miss Universe before, what are you now?
12:03 I'm Lola Universe.
12:06 A man from the moon land, sea or today, what will you do?
12:11 It depends if he's cute, right?
12:14 Right.
12:15 I'll let him sleep at home.
12:17 I'll let him sleep.
12:19 Show the tourism of the Philippines.
12:21 Your favorite leading man?
12:23 Well, for now, maybe Ronaldo Valdez.
12:28 Your favorite Gloria Diaz movie?
12:32 Of course, Pinaka Magandang Hayob sa Balat ng Lupa,
12:36 and the movies of Danny Shalcita,
12:38 and Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon,
12:41 iconic movies.
12:43 What do you do first when you wake up?
12:46 Stretch.
12:47 I've seen your exercise video.
12:50 No lipstick or no powder?
12:52 Oh my God, you need lipstick.
12:55 Your life will be a movie, who will you play?
12:59 Isabelle.
13:00 You'll be Alden Richards' leading lady, will you agree or not?
13:06 I can do it.
13:08 On the face of the earth, you are the most?
13:11 Contra vida.
13:14 Belle, you're in love with Glory.
13:16 No filter.
13:20 Your daughter who's in love with you?
13:23 Baltazar Balti.
13:25 Your mom's favorite hobby?
13:27 Gastadora.
13:29 Your mom's traits that you admire?
13:31 She saves a lot.
13:33 Your favorite housework?
13:35 Cooking.
13:37 Movie contract or housewarming contract?
13:39 Housewarming contract.
13:41 Best thing about motherhood?
13:43 Time with the family.
13:47 Your guilty pleasure?
13:48 Massages.
13:50 Barefoot, barefaced?
13:51 Barefaced.
13:53 Deadmau5, Palaban?
13:54 Palaban.
13:55 Favorite Taylor Swift song? I saw you.
13:57 Nagwawala.
13:59 Nagwawala, I said, "Belle, ano bang ininom mo? Bakit ka nagwawala dyan?"
14:03 Alos na sa stage, I mean, they said to me, "Taylor Swift, matakot sa'ka."
14:09 Cruel summer, cruel summer.
14:12 Parang abominable snowman na nagwawala 'to niya.
14:15 Dumating sa bahay sa Taylor Swift mo, anong gagawin mo, Belle?
14:18 I'll make a kamayan dinner.
14:20 Kung larosa ka sa kalye, ano ka?
14:23 Patintero.
14:25 One word to describe your mother?
14:27 Loving.
14:29 Glorieto, this is for you. Lights on or lights off?
14:32 Siyempre lights on.
14:34 But with the blanket on.
14:36 Happiness or chocolates?
14:39 Happiness.
14:40 Best time for happiness?
14:42 Actually, mga 5.30, 6 o'clock.
14:45 Love that. Belle, I am a proud daughter of Gloria Diaz because?
14:51 Because she has an amazing work ethic and legacy.
14:55 Glory, I'm a proud mother of Isabel Daza because?
14:59 She's so much like me.
15:00 So, I have a quick question.
15:04 Social comes to mind, eh. Social in a good way.
15:17 Back on the show, kasama pa rin po natin, Miss Gloria Diaz and Belle Daza.
15:34 Paano ba maging sosyal? Meron pa bang sosyal?
15:37 Ano ba ang sosyal? Who would like to answer?
15:39 Go, mom.
15:40 Sosyal? Parang when you come in, even if you're in a big party na mga sosyal people,
15:48 even if you're uncomfortable, kunyari at home ka, ganun.
15:53 The other day, I was in a big party.
15:55 You're confident?
15:56 Feeling confident. I was in a big party.
15:58 Everybody had diamonds and everything.
16:00 Sabi ko nga, dun sa, kay Belle, I think,
16:03 dapat ganito na lang ginamit ko. Siguro mas napansin nila ito.
16:07 Everybody had diamonds all over. Tiara.
16:10 Is that how to be sosyal? Diamonds?
16:12 Yung bang you're comfortable.
16:14 Comfortable.
16:15 Even if you're not? You're confident even if you're not?
16:17 Even if your stomach is grumbling.
16:19 Syempre, the more sosyal you are, the more nervous they want to fill in.
16:24 But at the end of the day, pare-pareho.
16:26 It's really the young people who look sosyal.
16:30 I'm talking about young people. You were both called the "it girls" of Manila.
16:35 Diba, Belle? During your time, glory, ha?
16:38 I have these stories that the Dia sisters were the most coveted guests.
16:46 I mean, you know, in parties.
16:48 Back in the 70s?
16:49 Yes.
16:50 Of course, there were 10 sisters.
16:52 Of course. All of them.
16:54 The whole party.
16:55 At bawal ang pangit.
16:57 [Laughs]
16:59 Diba?
17:01 Joke. That's a joke.
17:03 You got a lot of attention.
17:05 Diba, how did you manage that, Belle?
17:08 Because you got a lot of attention.
17:10 I mean, I recognize that my mom definitely paved the way for where I am now.
17:16 And also, she basically helped my career.
17:22 Or made my career.
17:23 Because I wouldn't be here if it weren't for her.
17:26 Aww. That's not fair.
17:28 And that's okay. I mean, that's okay with me.
17:30 I recognize that.
17:32 I'm super proud of you.
17:34 You're brilliant. You're a very good actor.
17:36 Seriously.
17:37 I'm serious. I told you that you're going to be a great actress.
17:39 Okay. Here's a question.
17:41 Let's talk about men.
17:45 How important...
17:47 Because we're talking about Bong, actually, just before the start of the show.
17:50 I knew your father.
17:52 Sandee's a friend.
17:54 And the Dazas, of course, of Sama.
17:56 [Speaking Filipino]
17:58 But how important are men to the happiness of women?
18:01 That's a good question.
18:03 Well, during my time, yes, they were very important.
18:07 First of all, during my time, women don't go out on their own.
18:11 And they really have to have their husband or boyfriend.
18:14 Unless you're really a CEO or something.
18:17 During my time, it was very important.
18:19 But I think it changed a little bit.
18:21 What do you think today in your time?
18:23 I think now, during my time, women are much more empowered.
18:26 They have different hats.
18:28 So, they can work.
18:31 And, of course, they're also at home with the kids.
18:34 Sorry, I forgot that I'm Tagalog.
18:36 And then, of course, we also want to support our family.
18:42 Now, the time is different.
18:44 We always tell...
18:45 For example, my friends, they always say that I can live without my husband.
18:50 Right?
18:51 It's different.
18:52 Right.
18:53 But I don't know how I would survive beside you and your friends.
18:56 Flowers for you.
18:58 You are just so beautiful, Belle.
19:00 You know?
19:01 I'm watching you on the Taylor Swift concert.
19:04 I agree.
19:05 Right?

19:18 Legit.
19:19 Right?
19:20 You, Belle.
19:21 I think beauty is being comfortable in your own skin and being authentic to yourself.
19:26 Thank you so much.
