Nine suspects including five foreigners detained for rioting in Kota Kinabalu

Nine people, including five foreign workers from China, have been nabbed for rioting at a factory near Kota Kinabalu.

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the nine were nabbed following a report lodged at 10.22pm on Monday (Feb 26).

00:16 He said a local worker claimed he was punched by a workmate, who is a Chinese national,
00:21 when he was queuing up to sign out from work at around 5.30pm.
00:26 ACP Zaidi said another Chinese worker later shouted and started pointing at the local
00:31 worker, challenging him to a fight.
00:33 However, it is learned that the local worker was punched in his back when he left the factory
00:38 compound.
00:39 A fight broke out and more people joined in the fight, said ACP Zaidi in a statement on
00:44 Tuesday.
00:45 Security guards and other workers on site managed to break the fight apart and a police
00:49 report was subsequently filed.
00:51 Some of them were injured.
