00:00 I'm embarking upon a visit to Australia as a guest of government upon the invitation
00:06 of Governor General David Hurley.
00:09 It may be recalled that we welcomed Governor General Hurley to the Philippines almost two
00:14 years ago when he represented the Australian people during my inauguration ceremony.
00:21 We appreciate this personal extension and friendship and I wish that through this visit
00:26 we will be able to not just convey our camaraderie but a goodwill of the entire Filipino nation
00:33 to our friends in Australia.
00:36 Following our historic decision to elevate the partnership between the Philippines and
00:41 Australia from a comprehensive to a strategic partnership last year, it is now our turn
00:47 to reciprocate the visit made by Prime Minister Albanese and extend to our Australian friends
00:54 our strong commitment to this partnership, to this friendship, and this alliance.
01:01 As part of this visit, I will have the opportunity to address the Parliament of Australia and
01:06 provide greater detail on the commitments that we place in this partnership and our
01:11 vision for the future of the Philippines.
01:14 I will make sure to acknowledge the ever-growing relations and defense and security with one
01:19 of our only two Status of Visiting Forces partners as highlighted last year by the success
01:27 of Exercise AMA and the Maritime Cooperative Activity.
01:32 I shall also highlight the huge potential in trade and investment that we should maximize
01:38 in the coming years.
01:40 After all, economic security is a vital component of national security.
01:47 Finally, I anticipate an enhancement of the mutual understanding between the Philippines
01:52 and Australia as we share a common vision not just for our bilateral relations but for
01:58 the peace and security of the region as well.
02:01 Our engagement in the Parliament will also feature conversations with Australia's legislative
02:07 leadership, who are vital partners in ensuring a favorable and enabling policy to our relations
02:16 and continue its upward trajectory.
02:19 I will also have the opportunity to expand our wide-ranging cooperation with Australia
02:25 through the formalization and signing of three agreements.
02:29 Collaboration in these additional fields is a clear indication that the strategic partnership
02:35 which we have embarked upon provides greater energy and optimism for closer cooperation
02:42 that is mutually beneficial to both Filipinos and Australians.
02:47 I am honored to bring with me in this visit the best of our motherland and our inherent
02:53 desire for peace and prosperity.
02:56 I intend to serve as a bridge that will further connect the two democratic maritime nations
03:02 and promote our visions of amity, development, and cooperation.
03:07 I hope to bring home with me a more robust, warmer, and closer Philippine-Australian relation.
03:14 I ask for the prayers of the Filipino people and your continued support.
03:22 Thank you and have a good morning.
