00:00 I've been belly dancing since I was 14. I first saw it come onto the stage when I was
00:09 at the Canberra Theatre and I was just gobsmacked. I knew that I wanted to be able to do this
00:13 and be able to move like this amazing woman on the stage. So I found a teacher in Canberra
00:18 and I began learning and I fell in love very quickly with belly dancing. And I soon realised
00:23 that it was a powerful way that women can embrace their shape no matter what size or
00:28 shape they are. Belly dancing is designed for the female body. It's actually based on
00:32 gynaecological health and reproductive health. So it's a really good gentle exercise but
00:38 it does get your heart up, heart rate up. Great for all ages and it brings women together
00:44 which I just love. So I mostly do Egyptian style dancing which is called Rakshaki but
00:52 there are elements there from Morocco, Lebanon, Turkey and the Middle Eastern states. So belly
00:58 dancing comes from the Middle Eastern states and it's just such a wonderful, happy, joyful
01:03 dance form which I love. And we have classes here in Orange and there's also a free come
01:10 and try day on Sunday the 3rd of March. So if you've ever been slightly interested in
01:15 belly dancing but not too sure where to go, come along. It's at 4 o'clock till 5.30 at
01:21 the Senior Citizen Centre this Sunday the 3rd of March. No need to show your belly,
01:26 we don't have to show our belly. Just wear something comfy that you can move freely in
01:30 and it's just a great time for women of all ages to get together and enjoy dance together.
