Synopsis :
Rose-Lynn Harlan, à la jeunesse tumultueuse, vient de passer quelques mois en prison. Pendant ce temps, Marion, sa mère, a pris soin de ses enfants. Les retrouvailles sont assez froides. Marion reproche à sa fille d'être irresponsable. Rose-Lynn, de son côté, a des rêves plein la tête. Elle veut devenir chanteuse de country. Pour parvenir à ses fins, la jeune femme doit quitter Glasgow et se rentre à Nashville, berceau de ce genre musical. Exaspérée, Marion veut la ramener à la réalité et qu'elle joue enfin son rôle de mère....
