00:00 French actress Judith Goderich has called for politicians to establish a
00:05 commission to investigate sex crimes and sexism in French cinema. She was speaking
00:10 at the French Senate's delegation on women's rights.
00:13 In this country I feel that it's not just the men who are the abuser who are
00:21 trying to shut down the women, it's the society which for me is bizarre and
00:26 obviously it's what I'm fighting and this is why I found myself talking and
00:30 talking over again. I think there's something about French society that
00:35 somehow is still anchored into like Moyen Age, you know. Her speech comes just
00:42 days after she called on France's film industry to face the truth on sexual
00:46 violence and physical abuse during the Caesar Awards ceremony.
00:51 Goderich was invited to speak after actors alleged they were teenage victims of
00:56 sexual abuse by directors decades older than themselves. The actress recently
01:01 accused two film directors of rape and sexual abuse when she was a teenager.
