00:00 A memorial on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur as the 10th anniversary of the disappearance
00:06 of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 approaches.
00:11 These families who had loved ones on board the flight have long pushed for another search
00:15 for the plane to find answers.
00:18 And now there's new hope, with the Malaysian government announcing they are in talks with
00:22 a US company to renew the hunt.
00:24 "They are ready and they have finalised the proposal and we are ready to discuss the proposal.
00:31 No reductance.
00:32 As I've mentioned numerous times, as far as Malaysian government is concerned, we are
00:37 committed to that search and the search must go on."
00:40 Texas-based marine robotics company Ocean Infinity has been invited to Malaysia to present
00:45 new technology that they say can help find the plane's final resting place, proposing
00:51 a no-find, no-fee basis for the mission.
00:54 MH370's disappearance is one of the world's greatest aviation mysteries.
01:00 On March 8th 2014, the plane with 239 people on board was due to fly to Beijing, but shortly
01:07 after take-off from Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, it vanished from radars.
01:12 Satellite data days later showed the plane deviated from its path for several hours and
01:17 the flight was assumed lost with no survivors.
01:21 "That MH370 flew along the southern corridor and that its last position was in the middle
01:34 of the Indian Ocean, west of Perth."
01:39 No trace of the aircraft's main body or any passengers were found in the extensive
01:43 multinational government search that ended in 2017.
01:48 But when a few fragments from the plane washed up on East African shores later that year,
01:53 it prompted Ocean Infinity to conduct another search, which also found no clues.
01:59 The potential of a new search is a welcome development for families who haven't had
02:02 any news since the failed search in 2018.
02:04 "I'm on top of the world.
02:08 It's what we wanted to hear and we hoped for that for a very long time.
02:14 And he's made a lot of promises to us in the fact that he will help find the plane.
02:21 And there's no two ways about it.
02:24 So I'm so thankful."
02:27 If Ocean Infinity's new evidence is credible, the transport minister says he will seek cabinet
02:31 approval to sign a new contract to resume the search, and encourage Australia to cooperate.
02:38 These families have accepted the loss of their loved ones on board the flight, but they believe
02:42 locating the plane's wreckage is key to improving aviation industry safety, and will
02:47 also bring them closure after waiting a very difficult 10 years for answers.
