00:00 PGA TOUR weekend programming has once again been derailed by severe weather.
00:07 Tom Kim walked after his par putt and immediately jogged to the next tee box.
00:11 Billy Horshall sprinted to the 17th green and Rory McIlroy hit his approach
00:17 into the treacherous par 5 18th at PGA National in conditions that were
00:21 probably darker than last week's under the light primetime match. It's not a
00:26 sight you see often but the players in the field at the Cognizant Classic did
00:31 everything they could to finish just as much golf as possible before play was
00:35 ultimately suspended on Sunday evening in Palm Beach Gardens Florida.
00:39 25 year old Austin Ekroat made a fantastic start before the weather
00:44 halted play. Yeah I'm really happy with how I started you know I kind of felt
00:49 like I was a little shaky at the very beginning but was able to you know
00:52 knock in some pars and you know get the birdie on four and five was great and
00:56 really put myself in a good position for tomorrow. Yeah I mean we just grew up
01:00 around when we were at school group we were around professional golfers all the
01:04 time you know guys always coming back and you know my teammates were ended up
01:09 being PGA TOUR players you know Victor and Matt Wolf and guys like that they're
01:13 just you know I've just been around it and I think that's something that really
01:17 helps the guys in in college at that and then making the step is just where you
01:21 know we know so many people that have done it. 24-time PGA TOUR winner Rory
01:27 McIlroy is aiming to continue his success this year and understands how
01:32 important that having a strong run of events can be to enable him to produce
01:36 his very best in the sport. Bad hole on 16 yesterday you know a few sloppy
01:42 mistakes here and there but yeah overall sort of game seems to be trending in the
01:47 right direction I drove the ball great again this week you know I led the
01:53 field and Shostky and off the tee at RIV probably gonna do that again this week
01:57 so you know if you know that's the foundation of my game and when that's
02:00 good then you know I just need some of the rest of the pieces to fall into place
02:04 and it's been good looking forward to Bay Hill and looking forward to the
02:07 players too and you know this is it's been a little stop-start since the
02:12 Middle East so you know looking forward to getting on a run of events here.
02:16 South African Eric van Royen has seen a steady progression this year as he's
02:22 applied the most possible pressure to the American golfers at the top of the
02:26 rankings in Florida and he's happy with where his game currently is. It's really
02:32 funny because I feel like I left a ton out there yesterday and I was slightly
02:38 crabby and feelie my caddy tells me bro you don't know what's gonna happen you
02:43 might birdie the first seven tomorrow and he almost did that so yeah really
02:49 happy with how I played. Whilst the current tournaments are ticking down
02:55 towards the majors the competition is hotting up with golfers from across the
03:00 world making their mark on the sport.
