00:00 Hi, I'm Millie Bobby Brown.
00:01 I want to tell you why I made my new movie, Damsel.
00:04 I really wanted to make it because I've never done
00:07 a role like this, and I was really excited
00:09 to do something a bit grittier and mature.
00:11 I made it to not only challenge myself,
00:14 but to have young girls and boys look up to someone
00:18 that started as a victim, turned themselves into a warrior,
00:21 to use all of the things that were meant to restrict her
00:24 into using them as her weapon to protect herself
00:26 and to become this warrior that she didn't know
00:29 was inside of her.
00:30 It was a huge challenge for me to not have somebody
00:32 to work against.
00:34 I work with people, and they give me so much energy,
00:36 so I'm able to bounce off of it.
00:37 But you have to bring it at 7 AM on your own.
00:40 There's no give and take.
00:41 For me to be alone for that long,
00:43 it's like you can't get sick, you can't get injured,
00:45 you can't miss a day.
00:46 It's very go, go, go.
00:47 Everyone's reliant on you.
00:49 I had to put everything aside to truly transform into Elodie.
00:53 And then just to get there, to put the wig on,
00:55 to get my scars, my bruises, and my dirt,
00:58 the exact way it was the day before.
01:00 Took me about two hours.
01:01 I actually remember once I ran so much,
01:03 I couldn't step over my baby gate for my dogs.
01:06 I had to climb over it.
01:08 I was like, "This is how I know that I'm running
01:10 so much in this film."
01:12 It was a really challenging job.
01:14 There was a lot of metaphors and a lot of meaning
01:16 that I think could help a younger audience
01:18 kind of navigate their life.
01:20 There's a piece of Elodie in everyone,
01:21 and you can channel that whenever you want to.
01:24 Thank you for listening.
01:25 You can watch "Damsel" only on Netflix.
