00:00 29 Minecraft things you might be doing wrong.
00:02 In Minecraft, there's plenty of different ways
00:04 to solve your problem, which means that sometimes
00:06 you might be doing the least effective option
00:08 without even knowing it.
00:09 So today, let's fix that and solve the Minecraft
00:12 everyday activities that you've been doing wrong.
00:14 And hey, the YouTube zombie bet me
00:16 that it's impossible to subscribe to the channel
00:18 before they turn back into a villager.
00:19 So to prove them wrong,
00:21 cure that red sub button down below.
00:22 It's free and it helps out a ton.
00:24 Number one, you see, if you've got a smelting setup
00:27 where you're smelting more than a stack of items at a time,
00:29 probably through use of a hopper,
00:31 then it turns out that crafting nine coal
00:33 into a block of coal actually give you more burning power
00:36 than just using nine coal separately.
00:38 You see, when you craft it into a block,
00:40 now it does the equivalent of 10 coal smelts,
00:43 meaning that for big smelting jobs, it's the way to go.
00:45 But if you're just doing a few items here and there,
00:47 then it's really just best to use regular coal split up.
00:50 Number two, this is what I'm personally guilty of.
00:53 And lately I've been trying to cut back.
00:55 You see, even though chests are a staple
00:57 of Minecraft storage, as it turns out,
00:59 in most cases, they might not be the best option.
01:01 As it stands, most of the time,
01:03 barrels are just a much better option to use.
01:05 They're more efficient for resources,
01:07 and more importantly, they're gonna save you
01:09 from a ton of lag down the road.
01:11 Basically, whenever possible, chuck out the chest
01:13 and just stick to barrels for your options.
01:15 Number three, zombie gold farms are a huge help
01:18 to have in Minecraft survival.
01:20 But while the rest of the items that you get
01:21 are easy to sort, you are going to get a lot
01:24 of golden swords coming up into your chests.
01:26 And after your first double chest
01:27 full of broken golden swords,
01:29 you're probably just wanting to trash the things.
01:31 But not too fast, because it actually turns out
01:33 that you can smelt the golden sword
01:35 and get an extra nugget out of it.
01:36 And sure enough, after a while,
01:38 that extra gold is going to add up.
01:40 Number four, everyone knows that when you start up
01:42 a new world, the wooden tools that you make
01:44 at the beginning are quickly gonna be outclassed.
01:46 And while that's to be expected,
01:47 you shouldn't just throw away those duds
01:49 as soon as they're done for.
01:50 You see, when you're starting out,
01:51 any resources that you have are a hot commodity.
01:54 If you're not using your mostly broken wooden tools
01:56 to smelt up other things in a furnace,
01:58 then you're doing it wrong.
01:59 And plus, it's a bit more of a sentimental send-off
02:01 than just throwing the things into a ditch.
02:03 Number five, when digging a staircase in Minecraft,
02:06 I think a lot of us tend to think a little too short term.
02:09 Because sure, mining a two block tall staircase
02:11 on the way down to the mines is fine.
02:13 But as soon as you try to get back up that staircase,
02:16 you're going to hit your head
02:17 on every single one of those ceiling blocks.
02:19 You don't have to do anything fancy.
02:21 Just an extra block or two can make it way less painful
02:23 to go down into your mines.
02:25 Trust me, your noggin will thank you for it.
02:27 Number six, now I get it,
02:29 math isn't on any of our priority lists.
02:31 But sometimes when you manage to crunch the numbers,
02:33 you can actually save yourself some resources.
02:35 For example, if you're ever going about
02:37 just smelting one log as fuel, you're doing it wrong.
02:40 If you just turn that one log
02:41 in a crafting table into four planks,
02:43 now all of a sudden you're doing a four times return
02:46 on what you would normally smelt.
02:47 And plus, it's just fun to get quadruple the results
02:50 for minimal effort.
02:51 Number seven, Nether Gold has gained a lot of popularity
02:53 for its use in piglin bartering.
02:55 So if you're trying to round up some more cash
02:57 to make it rain on Porky Pig,
02:58 then this is definitely the best way to go about it.
03:00 You see, when you mine Nether Gold ore
03:01 with a fortune pickaxe,
03:03 you're just gonna get a handful of nuggets.
03:04 Instead, you should always use silk touch on this ore
03:07 and then smelt the ore down for a single ingot.
03:10 So you can just trade this directly to the piglins
03:12 and walk away with your rewards, simple as that.
03:14 Number eight, lighting up caves while you're mining
03:17 is obviously a good idea.
03:18 But in specific situations,
03:20 you might be placing your torches wrong.
03:21 Because obviously the worst scenario that we want to avoid
03:24 is that you place your torches on the ground,
03:25 you go to mine that diamond ore,
03:27 and all of a sudden all this water splashes into your face.
03:30 Just like that, your torches are wiped clean
03:32 and now you can't see your way back up to the surface.
03:34 Rather, if you place your torches on the walls,
03:36 then you can avoid a lot of that same hassle.
03:38 Number nine, look, when you're playing
03:40 in harder difficulties, then a lot of times,
03:42 spawners seem like more trouble than they're worth.
03:44 But then the problem becomes
03:45 after I've gone through all of that,
03:47 when I want to actually make a farm,
03:49 I have to go find a new spawner.
03:50 Even though in the moment it might be a hassle
03:52 to go in and deactivate one of these spawners on the spot,
03:55 the EXP and items that you're gonna get after the fact
03:58 definitely make up for it.
03:59 So in the future, let's just try to think
04:01 about the long-term and maybe use torches
04:03 for these going forward.
04:04 Number 10, I'm sure we've all heard from our parents
04:06 time and time again to pick up after our mess.
04:08 But who would have thought that advice
04:10 would be so applicable in Minecraft?
04:12 As you can see, if you leave around too many items
04:14 in the ground, especially when you're mining in a cave,
04:16 then all it takes is just one zombie to walk over,
04:19 pick up an item, and now it's not gonna despawn.
04:21 This can become quite a large problem
04:22 if you have this happening over and over again.
04:25 Maybe just get rid of the item with a flint and steel.
04:27 Number 11, now folks, it's a real pain in the brain
04:29 when you're getting ready to start a big building project,
04:32 you go and check your chests,
04:33 and all of a sudden you're coming up short
04:34 on things like stone and cobble.
04:36 Now I'll fully admit,
04:37 they're not the most valuable materials in Minecraft,
04:40 far from it, but they're almost essential
04:42 when it comes to these types of builds.
04:44 So in the future, when you're branch mining
04:46 or digging through with a haste to beacon,
04:48 you might wanna store a couple of these blocks.
04:50 Number 12, when building in Minecraft,
04:52 stairs can be a great item to use
04:53 to add depth to your bases.
04:55 So if you're making a lot of them
04:56 and you're using a crafting table, you're doing it wrong.
04:59 This one mostly applies to people
05:00 who've been playing Minecraft
05:01 since before the stone cutter was added in,
05:03 because as soon as you see how many blocks
05:05 this can save you when applicable,
05:07 it really is no reason not to use this thing.
05:09 And when you're crafting as many stairs as I do,
05:11 it really does add up.
05:12 So I'm glad to take my discounts when I can.
05:14 Number 13, when you're getting ready to start a big project,
05:17 most of us like to have little tiny base camps
05:19 that we can refer back to.
05:21 Most of the time, there's nothing too complex going on here.
05:23 We got temporary storage and crafting setups and the like.
05:26 But a key reminder to everyone who does this,
05:28 as soon as you're done with the project,
05:30 remember to take those out.
05:31 Trust me, nothing quite takes away
05:33 from the sight of your cool new build
05:34 like having to see a little toolkit left around.
05:37 Number 14, few things in Minecraft
05:39 are quite as much of an eyesore as a creeper hole.
05:41 Look, it happens.
05:42 Sometimes when you're fighting that creeper,
05:44 it's just gotta explode.
05:45 But even though that's a completely understandable mistake,
05:47 you don't need to go leaving around the evidence everywhere.
05:50 Everyone who's played on a multiplayer server
05:52 knows one person who doesn't take the time
05:54 to fill in creeper holes,
05:55 or worse, doesn't even fill them in correctly.
05:57 Just clean up the job
05:58 and don't let the creepers get the best of your world.
06:01 Number 15, villages can be one of the most helpful resources
06:04 in Minecraft, which is all the more reason
06:06 that you should never be hanging around one without sleeping.
06:09 I don't care if most of the time it turns out all right,
06:11 because every time that you hit midnight,
06:13 you have a 10% chance of spawning a zombie siege.
06:15 And folks, it only takes one of those
06:17 to completely ruin your population.
06:19 Really, let's be honest, there's beds everywhere in a village.
06:23 If you're not using one of those to sleep,
06:24 then you just gotta get out of town.
06:26 Number 16, when you first start up a Minecraft world,
06:29 it's not hard to find trees as far as the eye can see.
06:32 And while that feeling might make you think
06:33 that you can get away with taking out a couple of them
06:35 without replanting,
06:37 it only takes a few repeats of that process
06:39 before your base starts to look barren.
06:41 Which is why, obviously, the best way to go about it
06:43 is to be your team tree self
06:44 and replant every single tree that you chop down.
06:47 And best yet, this is sure to keep you
06:49 on mother nature's good side.
06:50 Number 17, when you start trying to work your way
06:53 through the villager trading market,
06:54 then you definitely gotta be looking out for this.
06:56 Because sure, it's definitely cool
06:58 to reroll your villager constantly
06:59 to try and get the best one.
07:01 But if you don't convert the villager to a zombie
07:03 and then change it back right after,
07:05 then you're just wasting some good trades.
07:07 If you're not looking to get
07:08 the hero of the village effect all the time,
07:10 this is definitely a way to save a couple of your emeralds
07:12 on your next book.
07:13 Number 18, you see, while it is possible
07:16 to shear a white sheep and then take its wool
07:18 with a dye in the crafting table
07:19 to craft a new colored wool,
07:21 for that same one dye,
07:22 you could change the wool color of another sheep
07:24 and now every single shear that you do
07:26 is going to give you that new wool.
07:27 All it takes is one round of shearing
07:29 and you're already saving yourself some dye.
07:32 Which, if you're not exactly full up on magenta or whatever,
07:35 is definitely a helpful cause.
07:37 Number 19, while most players know
07:38 to use critical hits in PVP,
07:40 they still can do a fair amount of damage
07:42 when you're doing it just against mobs.
07:44 For example, take this pillager mob.
07:46 If we use a netherite sword normally,
07:48 we can kill the thing in three hits.
07:50 But if we use critical stabs instead,
07:52 then we're getting the job done in two.
07:54 Just like that, you'll be saving yourself time
07:56 and durability, which are both things
07:58 I think we'd all love to have.
07:59 Number 20, laying out a redstone contraption
08:02 can be tough work.
08:03 And nothing kills the pride of putting in all that hard work
08:05 just to have it be broken
08:06 because you placed it on a regular ground block.
08:09 You see, if you're doing your redstone
08:10 on a naturally occurring block,
08:12 then it's just gonna be a recipe for confusion.
08:14 So instead, just color code your contraption,
08:16 which in turn makes the redstone even easier to fix,
08:19 as now you can just look at one part
08:21 instead of the whole thing.
08:22 Number 21, brewing up potions
08:24 can sometimes feel like a chore.
08:25 However, there are some situations
08:27 where you just gotta bring one of these pals along.
08:29 For example, if you're someone who in the overworld
08:31 always carries around a water bucket in their hop bar,
08:33 then when you go to the nether,
08:35 you should always change that out
08:36 for a fire resistance potion.
08:38 Knowing what potion to bring and when
08:39 can be a huge help
08:40 when you're going around your Minecraft world.
08:42 And more importantly so,
08:43 it can get you out of danger when you need to.
08:45 Number 22, potions of harming can do some real damage.
08:48 But if you're making your set with a potion of healing,
08:51 you might wanna reconsider.
08:52 You see, this potion can be brewed
08:53 from either a potion of healing or one of poison.
08:56 And if we compare the ingredients,
08:57 the gold necessary for the glistering melon
08:59 is much more useful elsewhere
09:01 than the spider eye alternative.
09:02 Since spider eyes are only useful for brewing,
09:04 I think you'll be much happier
09:06 to make your death potions this way
09:07 and save those gold doubloons for a better investment.
09:09 Number 23, when you're playing Minecraft long enough,
09:12 then misclicks are sure to happen.
09:14 And while most of the time they're just no harm, no foul,
09:16 if you're holding around an ax all the time,
09:18 then you could cause some damage.
09:19 I have a bad habit of doing this
09:21 every time I try to open up a door with an ax.
09:23 I'll always just hit the logs
09:24 that are on either side of it.
09:26 So to save yourself from this kind of embarrassing mistake
09:28 in the future, just go around your world
09:29 holding some other tool in your hand.
09:31 And then you can just save your ax
09:32 for when it's actually useful.
09:34 Number 24, fishing in Minecraft is a pastime
09:37 that's sure to take a while.
09:38 So if you're looking to save yourself some of that tedium,
09:41 then you should never be fishing in a spot
09:42 that doesn't allow for the rain bonus.
09:44 As some of you might know,
09:45 if you actually fish in a spot
09:47 while it's raining in open air,
09:48 then you're actually able to get a bit of extra points
09:51 when you're fishing.
09:51 So really, if you find yourself constantly casting a line
09:54 down in the dark, then you should take your fishing rod,
09:56 move it up into the open air,
09:58 and expect to reap the rewards.
10:00 Number 25, every now and then you run a little low
10:02 on a resource like clay,
10:04 and now you gotta go dig at the bottom of a lake.
10:06 And even though the amount that you need
10:07 might be pretty small,
10:08 you should never be digging underwater
10:10 without an air pocket or aqua affinity.
10:13 Mining while you're submerged takes five times longer
10:15 than doing it regularly,
10:17 which is a significant difference.
10:18 And if you're mining multiple blocks at a time,
10:20 it really adds up fast.
10:22 So if you don't have enough levels for aqua affinity,
10:24 then at the very least,
10:25 plot out the time to give yourself an air pocket.
10:27 Number 26, the way that leveling up in Minecraft works
10:31 is that it takes progressively more and more EXP
10:33 to get to the next level.
10:34 That's why folks, there's very little reason
10:36 to ever go too far past level 30.
10:38 For one, like we said, a lot of that new XP
10:40 is getting wasted the higher and higher that you're going.
10:43 But it also means that after you die,
10:45 you could lose all of those levels for nothing.
10:47 And since Minecraft anvils have a level limit,
10:49 then it seems like even Mojang
10:51 doesn't want you to go too high over that cap.
10:52 Just hit level 30 and cash out.
10:54 Number 27, stockpiling the eyes of ender
10:57 to both find and fix the end portal is a lot of work.
11:00 And it'll definitely turn your day sour
11:02 if you finally find that portal
11:03 and you don't have enough eyes to actually fill it up.
11:06 Which is why folks, when you're on the search for the portal
11:08 you should never be constantly using the eyes of ender.
11:11 Each time that you're casting one of those out,
11:13 you're just rolling the dice that it's gonna break.
11:15 Just stick to minimalism
11:16 and that'll really be all you need.
11:17 Number 28, whenever you're maxing out your power five bow,
11:21 there's always a question of which enchantment
11:22 you wanna add, mending or infinity.
11:24 Since the two are mutually exclusive,
11:26 you gotta choose one of them.
11:27 But to be honest, if you're choosing mending,
11:29 then I really think you're doing it wrong.
11:30 It's just a simple numbers game, folks.
11:32 When you look at the resources that you're saving,
11:34 a mending bow only saves so much on string,
11:37 then the infinity bow saves on arrows.
11:39 So for what it's worth,
11:40 just stick to the infinity enchantment.
11:42 Number 29, nothing adds to the panic of dying in Minecraft
11:46 quite like seeing this show up on your screen.
11:48 So to prevent that, even though it might look nice
11:50 to have your bed decorated like this,
11:52 you really shouldn't build any blocks
11:54 that could obstruct you from spawning.
11:55 If you're playing an older version such as 1.12 and before,
11:58 then you really gotta watch out for this sort of change.
12:01 All it takes is just a bit of glass
12:03 or a snow golem around your bed
12:05 to mean that you'll never respawn there again.
12:07 And with that folks, stumble into that red sub button below
12:10 and have a good one, all right?
