00:00 Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:02 A Lamborghini sports car crashed into a road barrier during a chase with Derbyshire Police.
00:08 The incident happened when the driver of the car failed to stop when asked to do so by officers
00:12 from Chesterfield. The driver tried to use the speed of the car to his advantage and escape
00:16 from the scene but instead drove straight into a traffic barrier. They then tried to run away but
00:21 were stopped by officers. A spokesperson for Derbyshire Road's policing unit commenting after
00:26 the incident said "Despite acceleration of 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds, the power far outweighed the
00:33 talent and it stopped just as quickly." A 17th Century Derbyshire pub will reopen this week
00:41 after a £1.6 million renovation. The Ashford Arms at Ashford-in-the-Water will be officially
00:46 reopened on Friday by local hero and Baple Mayor Alison Hill. The pub offers boutique rooms,
00:52 a cosy place to dine, relax with a drink in front of a fire or sleep in luxurious surroundings.
00:58 The Ashford Arms is the latest of three hospitality venues in Derbyshire to benefit
01:02 from investment after the owners also redeveloped the Maynard in Grindleford and the George in
01:07 Hathasidge. My name is Rob Hathasidg, I'm the Managing Director of Longbow Bells and Restaurants.
01:11 I set up the Maynard in Grindleford four years ago and the George in Hathasidge two and a half
01:17 years ago and I'm currently inside the newly refurbished Ashford Arms in Ashford-in-the-Water.
01:23 Our big thing with Longbow is we like to take these old buildings that have not been used to
01:29 their greatest capacity and give them a new lease of life and that's what we've done here. There's
01:33 been a refurbishment of £1.6 million, we've refurbished all the nine bedrooms, the new bar,
01:39 all new kitchen and really brought it up to a lovely high standard. It's a beautiful historic
01:45 great two-listed building but we've put some really lovely contemporary touches in there.
01:51 We use local supplies for all of our food, everything is freshly prepared in-house and
01:56 we've got some really premium drinks from the best of Derbyshire producers. We're so so excited
02:02 about the launch of this beautiful pub. We're opening our doors on the 9th of March and we
02:06 really hope to see you all here soon.
