00:00 What's going on guys it's CeeMo and today I'm gonna teach you how to play Yu-Gi-Oh in
00:07 three minutes. Now Yu-Gi-Oh is a card game comprised of one player versus
00:11 another. Players take turns summoning monsters, casting spells, and activating
00:15 traps to defeat their opponent. Both players begin by shuffling and cutting
00:19 their opponent's deck. Both players draw five cards and each player draws one
00:23 card at the beginning of their turn. However the player who makes the first
00:27 move does not get to draw on their very first turn. Now each player starts with
00:31 8,000 life points and the objective of the game is to reduce your opponent's
00:34 life points down to zero. A player loses the duel when either their life points
00:38 hit zero, they run out of cards to draw from their deck, or if their opponent
00:42 resolves a win condition like Exodia.
00:46 The most common way to reduce your opponent's life points to zero is
00:50 through the use of monsters. Each turn players can normal summon one monster to
00:54 their side of the field either in face-up attack position or set that
00:58 monster in face-down defense position. Some monsters can also be special
01:02 summoned granting you more monsters to battle with and some even have special
01:06 abilities. Just be sure to read the card text. Now monsters have an attack value
01:11 applied when they're in attack mode and a defense value applied when they're in
01:15 defense mode. When a monster declares an attack on another attack position
01:18 monster you compare both of the monsters attack values to see which is higher. The
01:23 monster with the higher attack value wins the battle and then you calculate
01:27 the difference in the attack values and subtract that total from the life points
01:31 of the player who lost the battle. The monster that lost the battle is then
01:34 destroyed and sent to the graveyard. Now if both monsters have the same attack
01:39 value both monsters are destroyed and neither player takes any damage. Now when
01:44 an attack position monster declares an attack on a defense position monster you
01:48 compare the attacking monsters attack value and the defensive monsters defense
01:52 value to see which is higher. The monster with the higher value wins the battle. If
01:57 the attacking monster wins the battle the defensive monster is sent to the
02:00 graveyard but the player takes no damage since the monster was in defense mode.
02:04 However if the defensive monster wins the battle neither monster is destroyed
02:09 but the owner of the attacking monster takes damage to their life points equal
02:13 to the difference of the two values. If your opponent doesn't have any monsters
02:18 you can attack their life points directly dealing the maximum damage
02:21 possible and it's usually the quickest way to win a duel. This is calculated by
02:25 subtracting the attacking monsters attack value directly from the opposing
02:29 players life points. Now monsters aren't the only cards available in the game of
02:33 Yu-Gi-Oh! There are also spell cards and trap cards that can aid you in your
02:37 monsters or help you disrupt your opponent's plays as well. Spell cards are
02:42 typically used during your turn while trap cards have to be placed face down
02:45 for one turn before being used but they have the added benefit of being able to
02:50 be flipped up during your opponent's turn. Again just be sure to read the card
02:54 text to know exactly how each card functions. Now this video barely
02:58 scratches the surface on how to play this game. To a lot of us veterans this
03:01 video is only covering just the very basics so if you want to know more be
03:06 sure you subscribe and check out the rest of this series for an in-depth look
03:10 on how to play Yu-Gi-Oh!
03:13 Bye!
