00:09 surrounding her health and whereabouts.
00:11 - It's very unusual for the palace
00:12 to give such a detailed account of any procedure
00:16 that a member of the royal family is going through.
00:17 And I think particularly when it comes
00:19 to something very personal.
00:21 - Speculation about the Princess of Wales
00:22 going into overdrive this week
00:24 after her husband, Prince William,
00:26 didn't attend his late godfather,
00:28 King Constantine's memorial service
00:30 due to a personal matter,
00:31 leading many to assume it had to do with Kate
00:34 or his father, King Charles,
00:35 who's currently receiving cancer treatment.
00:38 But because Kate hasn't been seen in public
00:40 since Christmas Day, the rumors went wild.
00:43 However, there's a reason she's been MIA.
00:45 In January, the princess was hospitalized
00:47 after undergoing abdominal surgery
00:50 and has been in recovery since.
00:52 - Certainly the news of Kate's hospitalization
00:54 was a shock to everyone.
00:56 Certainly her family knew what was going on.
00:58 But Kate does keep a very, very tight circle.
01:01 - And leave it to the internet
01:02 to spark up conspiracy theories about Kate's absence.
01:05 Some joking she's recovering from cosmetic surgery
01:08 and that she's a contestant on "The Masked Singer"
01:10 or "Celebrity Big Brother."
01:12 But the palace isn't here for it
01:13 and released this rare statement.
01:15 "As you may be aware, we gave guidance two days ago
01:18 "that the Princess of Wales continues to be doing well.
01:20 "As we have been clear since our initial statement
01:23 "in January, we shall not be providing
01:25 "a running commentary or providing daily updates."
01:29 It's true, at the time of Kate's surgery,
01:30 the palace noted they would only be providing an update
01:33 on her condition if it was significant
01:36 and she wouldn't be returning to official royal duties
01:38 until after Easter.
01:40 - You know, William's priority is
01:42 and has always been his family.
01:44 And we know he's taken the last couple of weeks
01:45 out of royal duties to be there to support Catherine
01:49 as she's recovered in hospital and returned home
01:50 and also look after those three young children,
01:53 doing the school run and being the hands-on dad
01:55 that we know he is, but he has returned now to royal duties.
01:58 - Yeah, the father of three is back to work
02:00 and taking on more duties as his father focuses
02:03 on his cancer treatment.
02:04 - I think there's every expectation
02:05 that we can expect to see a busier Prince William
02:09 in coming weeks because there is an expectation
02:11 to see these senior royals.
02:13 People want to see them out and about.
02:15 - Prince William's most recent outing,
02:17 visiting the Western Marble Arts Synagogue in London.
02:21 And while Kate was absent from the event,
02:22 she was still on people's minds
02:24 as the Prince of Wales received a bouquet of flowers
02:27 to give to her.
02:28 - These are for Her Royal Highness
02:30 because he does want to wish her well
02:32 and look forward to seeing her very soon.
