00:03 I'm very humbled, thank you.
00:05 Every year, women in music honor some of the best
00:08 to ever do it, and none more important
00:10 than our woman of the year.
00:11 Today we're discussing a few of them,
00:14 even one who has had it multiple times.

00:30 The year was 2009, and the woman of the year was Beyonce.
00:35 The superstar stunned at the Pierre Hotel in New York,
00:38 and at the time, she couldn't believe the year
00:40 she was having, and was as humble as ever.

00:46 I've been blessed to do this year,
00:49 and I know it would not be possible without my family.
00:53 Madonna is one of our most legendary honorees.
00:55 She grabbed the award in 2016,
00:58 and gave one of the event's most talked about speeches.
01:01 People say that I'm so controversial,
01:04 but I think the most controversial thing

01:11 Taylor Swift.
01:12 Though the world is currently in their Taylor Swift era,
01:15 we honored her as our woman of the year
01:17 in both 2011 and 2014, but that's not it.
01:21 In 2019, she became our woman of the decade.
01:25 What does it mean to be the woman of this decade?
01:29 Somewhere right now, your future woman of the year
01:32 is probably sitting in a piano lesson,
01:34 or in a girls' choir, and today, right now,
01:37 we need to take care of her.
01:39 What will happen this year when we honor Carol G?
