00:02:41 Today is Wednesday March 6th, and I have a very important question for you PFT. I have a very important answer, okay?
00:02:49 Should we feel bad for a man who's getting paid thirty nine million dollars to not work?
00:02:54 No, are you talking about Hank? I'm talking about Hank. No. I don't feel bad for Hank
00:02:59 I'm talking about Russell Wilson Russell Wilson has been cut by the Denver Broncos. We all expected it
00:03:05 That's the dream anytime a coach gets bought out anytime a quarterback gets cut and they've got this big dead cap hit yeah
00:03:11 I would love to get paid millions of dollars to not work anymore
00:03:14 That is truly schools should teach classes if you want to prepare young children for how to succeed in America teach them the best ways
00:03:21 To get paid a fuckload of money and to not have to work at their job
00:03:25 But with all that comes the territory of being maybe the worst NFL trade of all time
00:03:32 Herschel Walker has always been the the gold standard or sorry yeah
00:03:36 No, Herschel Walker right Herschel Walker the the Cowboys dynasty was was started with that trade
00:03:41 But Russell Wilson's trade when looking back on it
00:03:44 the Broncos gave up
00:03:47 Two first round picks. I think they gave up what a second round pick two second round picks a fifth round pick drew lock
00:03:55 Shelby Harris Noah Phan and
00:03:57 They got back Russell Wilson in a fourth round pick, and then they signed Russell Wilson to a two hundred and forty two million dollar contract
00:04:04 And he played for the Broncos for two terrible years, and yeah
00:04:08 I think it might be one of the worst trades in sports history
00:04:11 I think there was a fleecing it was Seahawks won this trade we can officially declare that now
00:04:16 We were still it was still up in the air. Yeah, but now we can say yeah the Seahawks you dominated the Broncos congratulations
00:04:22 It's another win on your schedule for Russ Wilson
00:04:25 I think you asked me at the end of the season like over under Russell Wilson starts 16 or 17 and a half more games
00:04:32 Yeah, I still take the over on it
00:04:33 I think that there's gonna be a team out there
00:04:35 That's gonna sign him to be a starting quarterback next season it might be a team probably a team. That's not very good
00:04:40 But I do think that he's gonna start next season, and he's always cheap now. Okay. They sign up for nothing
00:04:46 Yeah, pretty much. We're pretty much enough so like you could sign Kirk Cousins, or you could sign
00:04:50 Russell Wilson for like five percent of what you're gonna pay Kirk Cousins
00:04:54 I still would probably want Kirk Cousins you think five percent of Russell Wilson or five percent of Kirk Cousins is
00:04:59 Better than a hundred percent of Russell Wilson. Yes, I don't think Russell Wilson's good anymore
00:05:05 I think he's I think he's like an average quarterback. I think it's the right system. He could he could thrive
00:05:09 I think he's yeah the number one defense
00:05:11 He's a weird guy. That's the thing is like you can you can overlook signing a weird guy if he's gonna be good
00:05:19 But Russell's goodness his talent is no longer to the point where it outweighs. Just what a bizarre human being he is
00:05:25 I just don't know where where that team's gonna be
00:05:28 To sign him as a starter when you look at like who's got openings and Raiders
00:05:33 Yeah, but are they gonna draft someone are they gonna like they're obviously
00:05:37 Whatever three four or five of the openings will be filled by someone who's drafted coming up in a month
00:05:44 Yeah, and then you Kirk Cousins
00:05:47 Justin Fields where he goes. I just don't know where Russell Wilson fits in in these musical chairs
00:05:52 Maybe I'm wrong, but I just think I think a team will sign him no doubt
00:05:56 I don't know if they'll be like you're guaranteed starter. Yeah, what about like a team?
00:06:01 That's probably gonna draft a quarterback and could use some veteran leadership. Do you want that type of leadership though?
00:06:06 Weird leadership leadership to wear. Yeah, it's weird leadership. He's a Super Bowl winning QB. That's a fact. Not true
00:06:14 Yeah, I just I don't know where he fits in. Maybe I'm wrong
00:06:17 I I think there'll be a team to take it that takes a chance on him like if you were to tell me that the
00:06:21 Steeler signed him I would not be surprised by that, but he wouldn't be guaranteed starter. He wouldn't be guaranteed starter. Probably not
00:06:27 QB competition he might win the job if he signed with the Raiders. I think he'd probably be guaranteed starter
00:06:33 Yeah, if I could see what about like the Dolphins as a backup. Yeah, I don't think if you're Russ Wilson
00:06:40 Would you want to be a backup for the doll? I think you
00:06:43 Decide I don't think you get to decide if you're Russ Wilson right now
00:06:46 But he might but Russ Russ might be at the point where if he's not guaranteed a starting job
00:06:51 He might just retire like Russell Wilson with Mike McDaniel, you know, obviously he'd be a backup but
00:06:56 fireworks
00:06:59 Maybe the Giants did you see the report Rich Eisen said that the Giants are done with Daniel Daniel Jones
00:07:03 He said the two words that are being used for Daniel Jones is buyers remorse yikes
00:07:08 At the time I think when we I think Leroy his ghost might have actually broken the news of his contract
00:07:14 That might be his final scoop
00:07:15 But when Daniel Jones signed with the Giants, I think all of our reaction was the same which is like you should actually this is
00:07:21 A case where you should pay your running back. Yeah, you should franchise tag your quarterback
00:07:25 yeah, because you had a history of a guy who had an a very good year when they went to the playoffs where it was
00:07:30 Two years ago and you essentially said this is who he is now not the other four years
00:07:35 Let's let's bank on him being the same guy and have this not be an anomaly. Yeah
00:07:41 Yeah, he had a great year and he stayed healthy that year
00:07:43 Which he normally doesn't do and then you paid him like he was a healthy good quarterback
00:07:47 Which I guess he was in the most recent season that you saw him
00:07:50 But then do you sit back and be like well the other the other seasons weren't so good
00:07:54 So we're not gonna pay you and they just didn't want him to hit the free market
00:07:58 So it's like in retrospect
00:07:59 Maybe maybe drafting a quarterback in the top ten because he reminds you physically of your previous quarterback
00:08:05 Yeah was not the best idea for your general manager
00:08:07 Yeah
00:08:07 but I think actually sake one sake one's an interesting dude that's gonna be a free agent because I
00:08:14 Actually, I would I would pay him if I was a GM
00:08:17 I wouldn't treat him like the other running backs that are gonna be out there
00:08:20 I'd be like sake one deserves a big contract. I think like I we have some running backs in DC
00:08:25 I wouldn't mind sake one Barkley in DC. Everyone. I think Jerry Jones would probably want sake one Barkley in Dallas
00:08:30 Yeah, I think that'd probably be a pretty good fit
00:08:32 So one last question about Russell Wilson before we talk about some other stuff
00:08:35 Do you I do have a small part of me that feels bad for him and I know that's crazy
00:08:41 He's made millions and millions of dollars. He's getting paid thirty nine million dollars to do nothing this year
00:08:46 If you if he chooses to do nothing, he'll obviously be on the team. But at what cost you've basically become a joke
00:08:54 to the NFL and you're
00:08:57 everything that happened at the beginning of your career, which was phenomenal is
00:09:01 Somewhat tarnished by what happened in Denver because it was just an abject failure and then on top of all of that
00:09:07 You have being part of one of the worst trades in NFL history
00:09:10 There's a small part of me that feels bad because I bet you if you hit Russell Wilson with some true serum
00:09:16 He'd be like, yeah, the money is awesome. But I really wish that I wasn't a joke
00:09:20 Yeah, maybe but also at the end of the day also also Malcolm Butler at the end of the day
00:09:26 You're you're married to Sierra. You've got more bathrooms than number of times. You've probably had to piss in the last year
00:09:33 Yeah, true. So things are pretty good if you're right. Yeah, they're good
00:09:37 But at the end like it's one of those deep down your head hits the pillow late at night
00:09:42 You're like man, I wish that
00:09:45 Didn't all happen the way it did. Yeah, like things were pretty good in Seattle for me
00:09:49 Yeah, I had a fan base that loved me no matter what I did
00:09:51 It would have let you like age poorly and and still stuck by you giving you a hero's retirement ceremony
00:09:58 Yeah, yeah, it would have been good. It would it would have been good for us to stay in Seattle
00:10:01 But I do think that there's gonna be a couple GM's out there that want Russell Wilson
00:10:06 They're like I can I can bring back rust I can fix it
00:10:09 I'm gonna let rust cook but then I think the first what do you think if we're doing dominoes if we're talking about quarterback dominoes
00:10:14 Yeah, cuz there's like three big domino pieces. What is the first domino Kirk cousins Kirk cousin?
00:10:20 Who reportedly is thinking about moving to Atlanta?
00:10:22 Yeah per Mike Florio a pro football talk not fanfiction does Mike Florio had some words for you Hank is a fan fact
00:10:29 He was not happy last night. I'm gonna pull up the tweet
00:10:32 Mike Florio was not happy and the first person I thought of was you Henry Lockwood
00:10:36 Cuz you've been giving him a hell of a time online
00:10:38 Hell of a time read it. I mean there's like
00:10:41 Many shows do interviews. I don't know that that's proof of anything. Okay, so yeah
00:10:46 He had it was the weirdest flex I've ever seen he had two flexes but flexes
00:10:50 Okay, hold on. So my actually thought that his his Caleb Williams flex is pretty good the other day on Friday
00:10:55 Oh, he's been texting me being like I'm so mad. The Bears are gonna be good. I'm like, I feel like you're tricking me
00:10:59 Yeah, I'm gonna pull up the the Caleb Williams. He said read this one
00:11:02 He said last night to the folks who try to dismiss our reports by saying we have no sources or whatever
00:11:07 You realize we had like 50 guests on our show last week from Indy, right?
00:11:11 You realize pretty much everyone in the league reads PFT, right? You realize I've been doing this for 23 years, right?
00:11:17 I didn't realize most of that. So yeah you exactly because you're a Mike Florio hater, but the everyone reads PFT. That's subjective
00:11:27 Well, here's not prove everyone in the league does having 50 guests
00:11:30 Okay, here's where we're already a row you can just pull you probably pulled like the vendors off the street and we're like, hey
00:11:36 How's the popcorn selling?
00:11:37 I'm gonna I'm gonna back our guy Florio for a second because he's in that weird gray area where you have the chef tees in
00:11:44 The in rap ports who will just trade news. They have news. They'll give you the news. There's not opinion
00:11:50 Florio adds his opinion. So people then take it as well
00:11:55 He's making things up and it's fanfiction for is still doing reporting like chef tee and rap port
00:12:00 He just has a little more personality behind what he's writing and and the you know
00:12:05 Saying like this may happen. This isn't happening. Like here's a here's a fun hypothesis
00:12:10 Florio is great for what we do because he throws out
00:12:14 Ideas and things that could potentially happen that get everyone's brain churning
00:12:18 Not just this guy got traded or this guy signed or this guy got cut
00:12:22 I think where people get confused though is because with rapport and Schefter and and you know, Diana like they report facts
00:12:29 So when they're reporting something you just assume it's a fact because they're tweeting it Florio does that?
00:12:35 But then also speculates. Yeah. Yes. Sometimes people are confused where they're like, is this a fact? Well, you got to know your source
00:12:41 It's Florio sometimes in especially in the dog days of the NFL calendar year where there's not a lot happening
00:12:47 That's when Florio's his mind starts to wander a little bit and he starts connecting the dots and doing the tea leaves and all that
00:12:53 Stuff and that's fun
00:12:54 But when it when it comes time to like analyze players contracts and salaries and predict what's going to happen
00:13:00 He's a lawyer. So he like he he is able to decipher some of the bullshit that's put out there
00:13:05 I think a lot better than a Schefter would and I I like for I always say this
00:13:09 He is more like barstool than he thinks like where?
00:13:13 Again, Schefter and rapport are just driven by scoops driven by getting reports. Mm-hmm. Florio is driven by pageviews. So he knows
00:13:21 Hmm, he's doing clickbait to I disagree
00:13:25 Extent like he knows dog days of summer. Let me just write some crazy shit and people are gonna click but I don't doctor fiction
00:13:32 Fiction that's fan
00:13:34 Fan fictioning him. This is this is Hank Florio. We've all seen the picture
00:13:38 This is you're at it again Hank and what Florio does I don't think he does it for clicks
00:13:43 No, I actually think that the clicks. No. No, shut the fuck up for a second Hank
00:13:47 I think that the clicks happen to be a nice byproduct of what he does. I just think that Florio
00:13:53 Gets crazy sometimes and he puts these dots together that sometimes don't end up happening
00:13:59 But he does it to entertain himself and because he believes that he might be right. He also forms speculation
00:14:05 I don't think Florio ever writes something just being like this. There's no truth behind this. Let me just throw this out there
00:14:10 He actually does have kernels of truth that end up being popcorn. We ate his hypotheses
00:14:15 Yeah, either way. I like Florio. I'm not your entire life is a real hater hypotheses
00:14:21 I know that's what my old point is like he's we're more like sometimes
00:14:24 I just think he likes to get mad and be like, how could people not, you know, take me seriously
00:14:28 Yeah, so he thinks Kirk Cousins is the best in the biz
00:14:31 He thinks Kirk Cousins is making some sort of family plan to move his family and his team down to Atlanta
00:14:37 Yeah, I don't know what that could possibly be. Like is he trading in all of his sweaters at Kohl's? Yeah, he's getting t-shirts now
00:14:44 Yeah, he's getting just warmer clothes. I don't know how back my first thought was
00:14:49 This is like a kid kids enrolling in schools thing
00:14:52 Yeah, it seems like it's looking house hunting house hunting. Hello. His wife is down there someone's friend
00:14:58 Someone's friends cousin is a real estate agent in Buckhead
00:15:02 Yeah, and she's actually taking a meeting Kirk was Kirk's wife Kirk was spotted in Magic City last weekend behind the curtain
00:15:09 Yeah sampling the wings. I mean the the Falcons would be
00:15:13 Real like if they sign Kirk Cousins, I would maybe pick them to that. I would definitely pick them win the NFC South
00:15:19 What are the odds right now? What are the odds on the Falcons winning the NFC? Can we look ahead at that?
00:15:24 I don't know Jake. Can you look that up?
00:15:26 Either way Kirk Cousins domino one domino one. I think Justin Fields domino - I agree I think
00:15:32 Hmm
00:15:35 Jimmy Garoppolo
00:15:37 Remember him remember me remember Jimmy. No, then I think all the other dominoes are draft picks
00:15:43 And then I'll probably it probably will go sequentially
00:15:46 He'll probably get signed before the draft picks, but I wouldn't be shocked if a team signs Russell Wilson
00:15:52 Then still drafts a quarterback. They do the old Andy Dalton, right?
00:15:55 Russ is our quarterback. Also Mike Glennon had that happen to him with Mitch. Yeah, also here's Jaden Daniels
00:16:01 Yeah, Mike, but Russell Mike Glennon throughout the first pitch and everyone was like Mike Glennon time like whoop
00:16:05 It's Mitch what you got Jake plus 1400 doing the NFC Atlanta. I still don't like it right in the middle of the pack
00:16:11 I kind of like it with Kirk just based on the speculation of Kirk the Vikings are plus 2,000
00:16:17 So another Florio tweet we just spent 10 minutes with Caleb Williams
00:16:21 Condolences to the Vikings Lions and Packers
00:16:24 This guy is the real deal and the Bears will have their first franchise quarterback since Sid Luckman. Yeah. No, he's jinxing that felt mean
00:16:31 That felt mean doing a Jake can't get into specifics for now
00:16:34 Oh, we're getting very credible indications that cousins is seriously considering movies family to Atlanta
00:16:39 Yeah, you know what the original magic said you we can't get this big sir
00:16:42 No, I could say that about anything a bit. Well can't get into specifics. It was Bethlehem
00:16:46 Well, you can't get into specifics. I believe him on this one. Okay?
00:16:49 But I can see why some people would be like how can we take this seriously by the way
00:16:56 We should have we screwed up on Sunday. We should have mentioned I forgot
00:16:58 Well, I guess I would say that and then I'd be like wait he had 50 interviews Super Bowl week. So
00:17:02 Well, it's got a mine. We can't combine week. Yeah
00:17:07 Chris Mortensen passing away was sad Mort was the original he was the original newsbreaker
00:17:12 He was the guy who created basically the idea of like NFL news
00:17:16 I don't think that there was ever like a sports like an NFL reporter that was on television before Chris Morton
00:17:23 Yeah, like as a feature of a show and he seemed like a great guy. I never got the chance to meet him
00:17:29 I don't know if you know I didn't work but he seemed from what everybody else has said
00:17:32 He seemed like a really like an outstanding human being
00:17:34 Yeah, and you could tell just by the outpouring of you know
00:17:37 People saying their stories about him and everything. He was just beloved by everyone. Mm-hmm makes me think sometimes how many
00:17:44 How much how much hate do you think we'll get when we die versus love because you'll definitely will still be some hate
00:17:51 I don't like to joke about death on the show big cat. Yeah, that's true. John your purple gloves John Cena. Yeah
00:17:56 It'll be love but there'll be some hate. Oh
00:18:01 When big cat dies somebody's gonna post the Taylor Swift video. Yeah like this fucking asshole. Hope he burns in hell
00:18:07 I'll just be like thank God. There's one less man on the planet. Yeah, this would be unhealthy does I knew this was happening?
00:18:12 Yeah, yeah, like all
00:18:14 All those doughnuts we should have known
00:18:17 Also be some of that shout out to Mort because I think the diagnosis of his his throat cancer
00:18:22 Which is a super aggressive type of cancer was that like 2015 is a long 2016
00:18:27 Yeah, and so he he lived for what nine years eight years after that
00:18:32 so he
00:18:34 it's a very sad day and it was it was sad seeing like the tributes because
00:18:38 People that you watch on TV all the time that are always having a good time joking around laughing
00:18:42 They were like on the verge of tears talking about this guy
00:18:44 So I wish I got the chance to meet him and he seemed like just a cool dude
00:18:48 what would you guys isn't it weird to think though like and it's morbid but
00:18:54 Will you eulogize each other like if one of us dies first?
00:18:58 Like Hank if you died PFT and I would have to do would we would be part of the eulogies, right?
00:19:03 Dude, who gets to decide that I dibs
00:19:07 No, I think it's I think it's like the family decides but I think they'd be like, yeah PFT and big cat
00:19:12 You guys should say something like there's multiple eulogies. Yeah, of course
00:19:15 If like if I died PFT would definitely eulogize me he would be part of the eulogy. I don't know if you you would probably
00:19:21 procrastinate until the last second
00:19:25 This is worse than doing the stand-up comedy I think that if Hank dies you die memes should eulogize him. Oh, man
00:19:31 Well, man if Hank dies we do we need to remake so the stand-up comedy was good
00:19:38 We need to remake the picture of like showing up to my haters funeral. It's just have max in the picture. That'd be great
00:19:45 No, it'd be memes. It would be means it would be a be memes and Mac if Dave eulogized you
00:19:51 He would just talk about how you were a ticket taker be like Hank would still be taking tickets, right?
00:19:54 I think I would have to give a eulogy for Dave, right? Yeah, like one of them. Oh
00:19:59 No, miss peaches. What'd you do? Yeah, thankfully he's dead. He can't complain about his shoulder anymore
00:20:04 That would rock miss peaches. There's bite marks on his throat. Oh
00:20:08 No, oh, geez. Ah miss peaches rocks
00:20:12 She's very cute. And the fact that she looks like a peach. Yeah, kind of takes it to the net
00:20:17 It's it's the best life hack ever if you're naming a dog if you name your dog after a noun
00:20:22 It's awesome. If you name your dog after noun and put mr. Or miss in front of it. Yeah as the noun becomes cuter
00:20:28 It's perfect like mr. Biscuits. Yeah
00:20:30 Okay
00:20:32 Jason Kelsey retired
00:20:34 Max thought we were gonna lead the show with probably should have led the show. Yeah, probably should let the show
00:20:38 Well, I think you know shout out to the Kelsey brothers there
00:20:41 He's becoming a full-time podcaster right now, which I think he's gonna find out is a lot harder than playing football facts
00:20:47 But they've they've done a very good job of
00:20:49 Playing the game and they they do a good job on the podcast
00:20:53 It's very funny show and a good show
00:20:54 But they also know how to play the game when you got Travis Dayton the most famous person in the world
00:21:00 It tends to help with ratings when you got the other guy being shirtless on TV chugging beers all the time
00:21:06 Winning football games it helps with the ratings. So we need Hank. What do we say? Hank was gonna date Beyonce
00:21:12 Yeah, Hank will date Beyonce and then I think that max you should just just
00:21:16 You give your your thoughts and Jason Kelsey as Jason Kelsey. You can just be Jason Kelsey for a minute. Yeah
00:21:22 Yeah, no, I will do anything to emulate Jason Kelsey and his life for the rest of time. He was an all-time dude
00:21:29 in terms of like NFL lore like six round pick
00:21:33 incredible mainstay of the Eagles this this past whatever decade plus where they've
00:21:39 Gone to a Super Bowl won a Super Bowl gone to a bunch of big games like he's the guy
00:21:44 We said did you tear up a little he also his speech was great. Do you actually let me ask you this first?
00:21:50 some haters out there I
00:21:52 Have I know where you're going with this and it is disgusting I agree with you
00:21:59 But some haters I'm not one of one hater one one
00:22:03 Hater was commenting on the fact that he didn't put on sleeves. It's his own thing
00:22:07 Yeah, I agree whatever the fuck he wants
00:22:10 I agree was going to Travis's retirement day and everyone else was dressed as nice and he wore no sleeves then yes
00:22:17 I could see I would be disrespectful
00:22:19 It's your thing you choose the rule. I'm ready tater. He sounds like a real loser. Yeah, he was I it was an all-time ratio
00:22:26 Yeah, who was it? It was Rico. Oh, no
00:22:28 Sleeves I honestly know that ratio the
00:22:32 Ratio room to hell, but yeah, it was it was a great speech. It was a great speech. He hid everything
00:22:38 He talked about Nick Foles dick
00:22:40 What did you think what was your takeaway?
00:22:43 It was great. It had everything it was emotional. It was funny
00:22:46 It was a great walk. That was my that was my dynasty documentary
00:22:51 Just him going through each year by year of his career and the highs and the lows I cried
00:22:57 It was a lot. It was like very very emotional
00:23:01 I was not expecting it to get that emotional like right off the rip before he even gets a word out
00:23:06 It takes like a good two minutes of him. Just like bawling. He bawling in his eyes and it
00:23:11 It was tough like
00:23:15 He was Philadelphia like he is the most Philadelphia athlete
00:23:18 I think that there's ever been like the fact that an offensive lineman was the face of Philly for so long
00:23:24 it was so big for the city and
00:23:26 I think that like him being gone is a real problem for the locker room
00:23:31 Yeah, he was the leader for so long and he's also just an unbelievable football player going out last year first team all-pro
00:23:38 deserved first team all-pro
00:23:40 Changed could have changed almost changed the game of football with the tush push
00:23:44 He's the best best personality of all time. The Super Bowl speech will always be
00:23:48 One of the best speeches of all time. He's the best I'm gonna miss him so much
00:23:52 Yeah, you bring up a good point though. What happens with the tush push next year? Hmm. Are they gonna run it?
00:23:57 Yeah, they're still gonna run it. I don't think it'll be as successful as it was
00:24:01 Did you see the Wisconsin Center?
00:24:03 Actually, finally someone broke the three cone
00:24:06 I think it was three cone drill that Jason Kelsey had the record for centers for like whatever it was the last 13 years
00:24:12 So maybe you draft him good. That's fine past the past of a time
00:24:16 He definitely gave like a blueprint for other Philadelphia athletes
00:24:20 Yeah, I feel like Bryce Harper at he wants so very badly to be what Jason Kelsey is Nick
00:24:25 Sure, he looks in the mirror and he sees Jason Kelsey. Yeah. Yeah, it's good to have a blueprint though
00:24:29 It's like you have somebody that everyone wants to emulate and if everybody could be Jason Kelsey
00:24:34 Then you'd be very very happy as a Philadelphia sports fan. Yeah, Mount Rushmore of six-round picks
00:24:38 He's on it. He's the Mount Rushmore of Eagle as Eagles athlete. Yeah, you might rush for six-round picks
00:24:45 It's Tom Brady Antonio Brown
00:24:47 Terrell Davis and then Jason Kelsey, that's good round. That's a great great great picks right there
00:24:55 Yeah, also first-team all-american beer drinker. Yeah, that dude loves beer. I love how much he loves. Yeah, he's the best
00:25:02 Pod he's uh, we hung out with him once. Yeah when uh
00:25:06 20
00:25:08 probably 17
00:25:10 17 it was
00:25:12 It was Bo Allen's apartment. Oh, yeah, and it was Chris long
00:25:16 Bo Allen and Jason Kelsey and we just like hung out Brent Selick - yeah Brent Selick
00:25:22 And we just hung out for I don't know three four hours. It was awesome drink rate dude. Yeah, you didn't know that
00:25:28 No, this is the first I'm hearing of this. Have you ever hung out with him? No. Oh, no
00:25:32 I you know what? I really I'm actually surprised you didn't mention us in his speech. I hate that was a great night
00:25:37 It's a great hang. I hope so much that he hates max. Yeah, I'll be so good one
00:25:41 It come on don't say that that would well you're appropriating this culture. Yeah, that's true. That's true
00:25:47 Yeah, his his culture is not you
00:25:49 Just told me that I have to appropriate you look like a guy that gets right you look like a guy who's currently in costume
00:25:54 On Halloween dressed up as slutty. Yes, Jason Kelsey like he grew out his hair whenever his hair was growing out
00:26:01 That's when I started to grow out my hair and then I just never looked back
00:26:05 You're very very unsettling in a hat. I just wanted look like him. I want to be him great hats
00:26:11 They're gonna be out on Thursday. There's good the just cover house. We got all new gambling merch for March man
00:26:16 I don't I don't look good in a hat don't look you will look better than me in this hat
00:26:19 I told Max before we started that he looks like if when Forrest Gump went on his cross-country run. He just somehow got fatter. Yeah
00:26:24 That's I mean, well, we workshop that I said, I looked like Forrest Gump. You said you look like it was a workshop
00:26:31 Workshop. Yeah credit to Max. Yeah. Yeah credit to me. It was a workshop. The fatter part was funny
00:26:36 Okay, what else do we have before we get to Hanks number 10 Patriots?
00:26:40 I saw a pretty hilarious fan last night at the the Clippers box game
00:26:45 Okay, did you see the guy from Taiwan?
00:26:46 No
00:26:47 There was a guy that flew in from Taiwan and he held up a poster that said like I flew
00:26:51 15 hours or whatever from Taiwan to see my favorite player. Oh, no, Russell Westbrook. Oh
00:26:56 Didn't play didn't play brought all his jerseys. The man was wearing 15
00:27:01 Russell Westbrook jerseys. Oh my god all on top of each other and he started to take them all off showing the different layers of
00:27:07 Russell Westbrook, but at least at least you got to see Giannis. Yeah, at least he got to see honest, which is nice
00:27:13 But yeah, they're gonna say Giannis that would have because he got ruled out like an hour before but he was definitely like on a plane
00:27:19 Overseas and the news broke that like Russell was a hand issue. That's brutal. That's a tough flight
00:27:25 That's a tough flight. You can't and all your your bag is just filled with nothing but Russell Westbrook jerseys
00:27:30 Yeah
00:27:30 I think we're at the point though with the NBA that you can't make a long flight to try to see your favorite player
00:27:36 With any type of confidence anymore. No, it's on you
00:27:39 You have to actually be in touch with the player before and let them know like hey
00:27:43 I'm considering spending $5,000 on this flight from Taiwan, which you just promised me that you're gonna play that game
00:27:49 Yeah
00:27:49 you need to you need to find like a week where they're at home for a straight week and be like I'm just gonna take
00:27:54 The whole week because then I might have a good chance of seeing my player my favorite player play
00:27:58 Yeah, but I think Hank no disrespect. I know that I did crown the Celtics Eastern Conference champions
00:28:04 I think NBA champions on Monday's show. Mm-hmm. I
00:28:06 Think I'm gonna ride on the box. I
00:28:09 Think I got to go with Pat Bev. Oh, yeah belt ass
00:28:12 They're just they're just six. No last six fucking people up ever since they got galan Ari
00:28:17 Haven't lost a game since they got galan Ari. Is he playing? I don't know. I think so Celtics legend
00:28:24 Yeah, I think he's playing
00:28:27 Never played also some other people with the greatest like rehab working out videos
00:28:31 Yeah, it's like skipping. Yeah, he played last night. He played 17 minutes four points
00:28:36 Some people would just point to the fact that the all-star break did happen and they've just been good since the all-star break
00:28:41 but still it's still galan Ari they have been good and
00:28:44 Yeah, I mean it was it was actually
00:28:47 No one cares about our bets, but I saw that Giannis is out and I was like I'm just gonna bet
00:28:53 Dame to score over 40 at plus like 400 and then he did cuz he just it was Dame time
00:29:00 Yeah
00:29:00 Like he I kind of like that the Bucs have that
00:29:03 Situation a lot of teams Celtics have it where like their best player goes out
00:29:07 It's like well, the other guy's just gonna is really fucking good. He's gonna score all the points. Mm-hmm, and we'll be fine
00:29:12 Okay, Hank. Do you want to do your number 10 Patriot? Yep. Hey, this is big. Yeah before you announce number 10
00:29:20 I want to give you just a little bit of background here
00:29:22 Well, it doesn't matter cuz the bliss has already been locked in
00:29:25 So we are yeah, I know but we already went from what six to number one
00:29:28 Is that what we did the top six or top seven? Yes
00:29:31 So give us the six through give us six through one and then we'll go back to ten
00:29:35 Dante Hightower six tie law five Julian Edelman for Teddy Brewski three Rob Gronkowski to
00:29:44 Tom Brady one. Okay, so when we left the combine on Thursday, I was hanging out with a
00:29:52 couple coaches and a couple James not to brag but I got a big slap on my back and
00:29:58 Before I turned around I said to myself
00:30:01 That's a coach who's too big and intimidating to coach in the NFL anymore
00:30:05 Mm-hmm. I turned around and it was Mike for able right there and
00:30:07 He he was like what's up, bitch?
00:30:10 Which is the perfect Mike variable way to say hello to you
00:30:12 and the first thing that I talked to him about was the fact that you're doing your top 10 Patriots of all-time list and
00:30:17 You haven't announced numbers 10 through 7 yet. And he said tell Hank if I'm not on that list, I'm going to beat his ass
00:30:25 Hmm, so just no pressure. Well, it doesn't matter because the list is locked in. That's that was my point
00:30:31 But I can't right you can't change retroactive. I know but just so you know, no pressure
00:30:36 I hope you put very blown there cuz he's gonna beat your ass. I
00:30:38 Would love to watch that
00:30:40 Dude, he would kick your ass. You would fuck you up so bad. You'd be crying you'd be bloody
00:30:46 Oh, so would you yeah. Yeah, but I'd put him on my top 10 list. Yeah, he doesn't want to beat I didn't okay
00:30:53 Oh, it was number 10 with that being said number 10
00:30:56 Ready boss
00:31:00 Randy Moss
00:31:02 Yeah, only only player on this list to not win a Super Bowl, but he was he was that good that exciting
00:31:08 Record-breaker best receiver all-time best receiver of all time when he came to the Patriots they got him for nothing
00:31:14 You know people didn't have high expectations and then you know game one
00:31:19 It was apparent like he was gonna dominate and that was you know, the most the most fun season until it wasn't but
00:31:25 his years in the Patriots were
00:31:28 So fun to watch him and Gronk are probably the most obviously Brady, but receiver wise
00:31:32 They were just unstoppable you know, how many Super Bowl unicorns?
00:31:37 How many Super Bowls do you think Tom Brady would trade to get 19?
00:31:40 Oh, two probably I think he said I could be wrong
00:31:44 But I think he said he would trade like one or two just have that one
00:31:46 Yeah, I had memory hold that one that one play at the very end of the first Giants Patriots Super Bowl where Brady just chucks
00:31:52 it down feel he told Randy to reverse fields when he points at him and
00:31:55 The ball hit off Randy Moss's hands and they would have been in field goal range
00:31:59 I'd completely forgotten about that play the thing with the time was though. There was only like 14 12 seconds left
00:32:06 They were all the way on the other side of the field. They had no timeout
00:32:09 So it would have been people post that a lot being like what if he caught this?
00:32:12 I don't know that they would have gotten yeah down the field and spiked it, but yeah
00:32:16 It would have been electric though. Yeah, Tom Brady would run the fastest 40 of his life. Yeah
00:32:21 Yeah, I don't even know if I did when he was when he was 20. I saw that yeah, he beat himself
00:32:26 I don't even know if they mentioned like the record-breaking season in the documentary. I don't think they did insane
00:32:32 Who's your honorable mention?
00:32:34 My honor will mention Ronnie Harrison. Oh, okay
00:32:37 Rodney Harris great guy
00:32:39 didn't great player
00:32:42 Didn't make the top ten. Yeah, he got no play in the in the dynasty
00:32:45 Documentary, I think he talked. Yeah, I know the helmet catch they mentioned that
00:32:50 Yeah, like talk about the helmet catch and then we'll just do one quick clip of you winning a Super Bowl
00:32:55 my favorite thing about Rodney Harrison is when he gets on TV on Sunday nights and he just talks about like
00:33:00 How dirty some of these players are and how much they should be suspended for their hits. Yeah, it's like this is Rodney Harrison
00:33:06 Yeah, I'll give you this Rodney Harrison
00:33:08 Okay, good job Hank. Should we do hot seat cool throne? Sure

00:34:10 Proper number 12 pour the roar and order your bottle of proper number 12 Irish whiskey with drizzly. Okay, Hank hot seat cool throne
00:34:18 I have two hot seats
00:34:20 I'll elect to use one because I'm assuming one of you guys will have the other one. That's very nice of you
00:34:25 Thank you. So my hot seat is spring break. Why Miami's is
00:34:30 Opting out of spring break. Yeah, I don't know how that's gonna work
00:34:33 I saw the video but they made a video to Santa's was like we're not you know
00:34:37 They made a video that was like it's not it's not you it's me
00:34:40 We're breaking up like kind of a parody video of Miami residents breaking up with
00:34:44 Spring break and Santa said they have a bunch of security measures to you know, stop it
00:34:50 Yeah
00:34:50 They did this with PCB the other the a few years ago where they stopped letting people drink on the beach and then it just kind
00:34:56 Of ended there. Yeah
00:34:57 They're the war against spring break is is raging. I was never a big spring break guy cuz I was too fat
00:35:03 Just having to take off your shirt for a whole week, uh-huh, you know right after March Madness was always daunting
00:35:10 But for those who celebrate I'm sorry for your loss. I never actually agreeing with me there
00:35:15 Yeah, I played baseball. So we had yeah
00:35:18 It was always like get in shape or just I could just stay in Madison and just like drink and hang out
00:35:25 And I would do the the water I did Panama City Beach one year and Panama City Beach might be it might be the worst
00:35:32 City in America. It's just you you leave the actual beach and then you've got guys wearing JNCOs riding a bicycle named Travis beating
00:35:40 I think I quarterback eating up future quarterbacks and trying to sell you salvia on the street
00:35:44 Yeah, and then there's an occasional preacher that pulls you signs like I'll give you free pancakes
00:35:48 If you listen to me preach to you, I'd take that deal. Yeah, I did. I actually did take that deal worth it
00:35:53 Yeah, I saw Woody Harrelson in a Waffle House in Panama City Beach one time during spring break during spring break
00:35:58 He was there eating by himself. And then as he was on his way out this this kid stopped him
00:36:04 He was probably like a nine-year-old kid. It was like hi, mr
00:36:06 Harrelson and then Woody asked his dad if they could go out to the parking lot
00:36:10 So his son could ride on Woody Harrelson's bike and then Woody Harrelson just drove around the parking lot with this nine-year-old kid on a Harley
00:36:16 Davidson took a bunch of pictures dropped him off and rode away. That's pretty legendary celebrity. Yes. Yes. Okay. So spring break
00:36:23 Out hot seat hot seat feel bad for the kids
00:36:27 Although Miami spring break. I feel like it's not a college kid destination. I would go to Mexico
00:36:33 Yeah, or you go cheap. I think you got to come back with all the all the
00:36:37 Bracelets all the places you went to yeah. Yeah, I went into senior frogs
00:36:43 I think there's one in Cabo and we went in for one drink in the middle of the day and it smelled like puke and
00:36:48 Like spaghetti and I'm like, yeah, do not miss this
00:36:50 Yeah, the good news is there's like 400 other beaches in Florida. You can go to yeah
00:36:54 My cool throne is having nothing to hide. Oh the commercial. I think we talked about it a few. Yeah
00:37:00 We really should have given people a warning about that commercial. Yes, it hit on a Monday morning and everyone's like, what is this?
00:37:06 Whoops, we did a commercial where we're you know, basically naked
00:37:10 You guys came out great that one side angle of just like it's just an upshot of my side boob. Not great
00:37:17 I haven't seen I think I think you I think I came out the worst
00:37:20 I look like two-dimensional. I don't know you look big cat looks jacked. Can somebody say all chested?
00:37:26 Send the video because I haven't watched it. I just walked by max when he was editing something and
00:37:30 Just our nude bodies were on his his computer
00:37:33 Yeah
00:37:34 Apologies to everyone for not giving you a heads up because you've probably seen it especially if you're watching the podcast
00:37:40 Our bad we should have we should have been like hey, there's this new commercial. It's a great commercial
00:37:45 We love body armor. Also shout out our billboard shout a billboard on Randolph Street
00:37:50 Hanks just fishing with dynamite now across from JP Graziano's. Good night, John boy. It's great
00:37:55 Yeah, you were at a bar on Friday night with the billboard out the window. It's interesting
00:37:59 We put it outside your favorite bar. Do you even say anything to girls or you know, I didn't mention it at all
00:38:04 I didn't I didn't just kind of keep like nodding towards the towards the window. Check it out. Yeah yawning like oh, whoa
00:38:11 That's a cool billboard. You're so lucky
00:38:14 Yeah, I'm sorry about this video. I just watched it. That's tough. Yeah
00:38:19 Well, it was just the fact that it was a Monday morning and we didn't give anyone a prep
00:38:22 It's a great ad gets people watching
00:38:25 Body armors. We love body armor, but we should have been like hey, there's an ad coming out
00:38:31 you get to see and this is we all saw each other's cocks because they gave us the
00:38:36 thinnest
00:38:38 see-through
00:38:39 Flesh colored boxers. Mm-hmm. And I think that I think did we talk about this on the show?
00:38:44 But Hank's got a big cock PFT's got big balls. I got nothing
00:38:49 Well, yeah, I think we did cuz we showed up we were so it was a late Sunday night still football season
00:38:54 Yeah showed up 8 a.m. They're like, here's your costume. Yeah, just a
00:38:57 2-inch like see-through
00:39:00 I don't even a spandex boxers. Yeah, it looked like we had we were all like hiding different sizes of birds
00:39:06 Yeah shorts mine was like a small sparrow at one point
00:39:09 They were saying that was gonna be the billboard and we yeah, I I
00:39:13 Pretty much say yes to everything that's ever been asked of me in my career
00:39:18 I think that was the one time where I was like
00:39:20 And I think you guys played it correctly because you're like let's let big cat decide this because he's the one who's gonna look the worst
00:39:26 No, no, I said I need to be in a body suit
00:39:29 No, what happened was somebody somebody asked me here's the idea for the billboard
00:39:33 You guys are all gonna be nude and you and big cat are gonna be holding
00:39:38 Footballs in front of your crotches and then Hank is gonna be holding a golf ball in front of his. Oh man blurring it out
00:39:44 and so I I said I'm down with that, but you might want to double check with Hank that it's okay because
00:39:50 Hank's the one that's gonna have to live with that visual
00:39:53 Yeah, and I said if I'll make a compromise put me in the Jack's body suit and I'll do it. They're like no
00:39:59 No matter who was gonna have the tiny ball in front of our penis was gonna end up being like no
00:40:06 I don't want to do this billboard. I actually think I'm less like if my penis is out there. I wouldn't really care
00:40:12 It's the it's everything else that sucks. I
00:40:14 Mean the penis sucks too, but at least I'm like I've told everyone like it sucks like bad penis. Yeah, right
00:40:20 I mean we're podcasters. What do you expect? Yeah, okay good hot seat cool throne
00:40:24 Thank you
00:40:26 My hot seat is Arch Manning. Yes. I had that as well because I'm the one you had Hank. Yeah. Oh, thank you
00:40:32 Good job. Well actually my hot seat was NCAA football
00:40:35 2024 okay, well
00:40:37 I'll just I'll just put arch on the hot seat because he's not going to be he's opted out of being in the new college football
00:40:42 game
00:40:43 And I I don't really care
00:40:45 But it is very funny seeing people because if you just zoom out and look at what you're actually upset about a lot of people
00:40:52 Are upset that like a 20 year old isn't gonna be in their favorite video game, right?
00:40:55 And I so initially I was like the the story and I don't know if it's fact
00:41:00 She's like I just want to focus on football and I kind of have arch Manning's back in that respect because if you're in a
00:41:05 football game a video game
00:41:06 You're gonna just play the video game as yourself all the time and then someone pointed out
00:41:10 that arch Manning would be in it and his rating would be like 65 and he'd be a backup and
00:41:16 Also, the Manning name is worth a lot of money
00:41:18 Yeah, maybe that's why he did it and then that that to me is kind of lame
00:41:22 So he should just stick with I would he's just do a press conference to be like listen
00:41:26 If you put me in the game all I'm gonna do is play the game
00:41:29 Mm-hmm, and I don't want to do that
00:41:31 I want to focus on football because I actually buy that I if I were in a video game that you I wouldn't be podcasting
00:41:36 I'd be playing myself in the video. Let's let's reach a compromise call in EA Sports NCAA College football
00:41:42 Arch Manning is not going to be in the game
00:41:44 However, don't put any filters or blocks on the game that prevent you from making arch rights creating your own arch Manning
00:41:51 I don't want like the last name thing coming up be like, sorry
00:41:53 This last name cannot be used right you should be able to that's if it's just one player
00:41:58 Then everybody should be able to make that one player and see you can make the best arch Manning. Yes agreed agreed
00:42:04 I
00:42:05 Have another hot seat just real quick Charlotte the stingray still hasn't given birth. Oh, it's fucked up
00:42:10 I don't think that she's actually pregnant. I still think it was a lie
00:42:12 I've been on string stingray watch for the last like three weeks that that bitch ain't pregnant
00:42:17 My cool throne is I'm gonna put Chris Clemmer on the cool thing because I've been watching a solitary
00:42:23 Confinement stream for the last couple days and he is I think he was built for this
00:42:28 He seems to be having no problem whatsoever living in solitary confinement. Yeah, it's it's insanely entertaining somehow
00:42:34 So shout out to Chris. He's he's a very strange human being Oh
00:42:39 Strangest he'd show he chose to do this. We had to do the 24-hour punishment and I was thinking about it last night
00:42:46 We had you know
00:42:48 Games we had each other we had guests popping in
00:42:52 It was still one of the most miserable experiences my life. I've been in jail with the Brady for
00:42:56 Maybe nine hours where we were locked in a cell absolutely miserable. Oh
00:43:01 Jail sucks put it on a quote card. He just chose
00:43:05 To do a hundred hours. He was like, oh, you know be funny if I did a hundred hours, which I was very confinement
00:43:11 I completely respect it. Oh, yeah insane
00:43:13 He's down for anything Clemmers down for anything with like he's if you build more people like Clemmer at Barstow would be great because he is
00:43:20 He'll do anything but I agree with you Hank when people are like, this is punishment. You got to stop this. It's like he decided
00:43:26 Yeah, it's it's fine. Yeah, like PFT said he's fine. He's just living his life
00:43:30 He's actually so when I started watching it all the comments were it was right off the bat like the first four hours
00:43:35 They were saying Clemmers going to go insane by in this week. No, he's going to make everybody that's watching the stream go insane
00:43:42 Yeah, because he's doing he's doing fine with it
00:43:44 And his the way his brain works is just so strange that you can't help but watch like I tuned in the other day
00:43:49 He was putting himself into a suitcase. Yeah, he was just folding through that body all times
00:43:53 Yes, really really bizarre stuff. But yeah, I can't stop watching Clemmer. Yeah. All right. My hot seat is
00:43:59 Anthony Edwards, you guys see last night Anthony Edwards
00:44:03 Lost track of time and he missed the tip-off of the Timberwolves game. I didn't see that
00:44:09 No, so yeah, he didn't he didn't start first time. He hasn't started since he was a rookie. He was at the arena
00:44:14 He was warming up in the tunnel
00:44:16 He just lost track of time and so they subbed him in like 25 seconds into the game, but he did not start the game
00:44:22 This is the kind of thing that you point to when it's like yeah, the Timberwolves are good
00:44:26 But your your star player lost track just forgot when the game started just completely forgot
00:44:31 We should do reasons why teams can't win the NBA Finals
00:44:34 Yeah, and it would be just an anthony ever forgetting and it would just be like Chet Holmgren's shoulders. Yeah, it was uh, there was a
00:44:41 Man, I can't remember his name Chris Paul just a picture of Chris Paul for the Warriors
00:44:47 It was there was a player fuck. What was his he's a pitcher Edwin Jackson Edwin Jackson forgot he
00:44:54 Put in the wrong
00:44:57 Google Maps to a Cubs spring training game like 10 years ago and he's like, yeah, whoops
00:45:02 I just drove to the wrong place. I love that. I would do something like that
00:45:06 Okay, my cool throne is Dak Prescott. He got a new haircut. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So what kind of haircut is it?
00:45:12 he also I think had a kid but uh
00:45:14 He it was just regular haircut. Just a close haircut. Yeah, really I couldn't really see any difference
00:45:20 But that is where we're at in the new cycle
00:45:24 Is that like NFL is that like when when moms have another kid and they cut their hair because they don't have time to take care
00:45:29 Of it. Yeah, Prescott just cut like half an inch off his hair. Yeah, and all the way went from beard to goatee
00:45:35 Yeah, and all the oh that was what it was
00:45:37 So the aggregators were like the ML football the Dove climbing were like Dak Prescott got a new haircut thoughts
00:45:44 Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah my thought. Yep. Yeah, that's a haircut and he got a goatee. I actually like to go to you
00:45:50 Kind of looks good. He's got a good jaw. It's like well, Dan Quinn a little bit. Yeah
00:45:54 Besides the fact it's made out of glass. Yeah. Yeah
00:45:57 Okay, Jake your hot seat cool throne Jake is back Congrats Jake. You did a great job with the tournament this weekend
00:46:03 Thank you guys was a lot of fun. Yeah, John. We had Monday morning golf
00:46:07 So an extra time to get reps in who won?
00:46:10 His name was Austin Eckrode first ever PJ win nice. You were working the bear trap this weekend
00:46:16 Yeah, she's a great host over the bear trap great name for holes on the golf course the bear trap. Yes
00:46:21 Brought to you by Jack and Klaus. Yeah, which I wanted to say really badly, but wouldn't have made sense
00:46:26 So with the PJ tour this year everyone that's won is the biggest underdog ever. Yeah, this is really weird. There's been
00:46:32 Eight or nine events and there's already been three rookies who've won last year in 54 events three rookies won
00:46:38 Yeah, if you look at my odds, they're all between like 60 and 500 to 1 odds that have won
00:46:44 Yeah, the co-leader after 54 holes David skins was a thousand to one
00:46:47 Maybe he has something to do with the fact that like 50 really good players are on the live
00:46:52 I don't know what that means. No live. We don't include them in our world golf
00:46:55 Well, we have the Arnold Palmer and then the players next week. So it's some there's two big boy events
00:47:01 If they don't get a big name in either one, it's yeah, we need some big boys. We need some big boys
00:47:05 Yeah, okay. That was fun. Um, my hot seat is teams who need a wide receiver. Oh
00:47:09 Because Mike Evans is staying with the Bucs
00:47:12 Yes
00:47:12 No Jersey guy a lot of people were saying if he had free agency, maybe the Jets maybe the Chiefs
00:47:17 But he's not going anywhere and he had a great year. Yeah, he kind of in a way hit free agency
00:47:21 He was just like I'm going to hit free agency and then the Bucs were like, here's some more money
00:47:25 He's like, okay. Thank you. I'll stay Jason lights first draft pick as a GM Mike Evans. He's been there a long time
00:47:31 Mike Evans and we talked about it this fall
00:47:34 He is if he plays another
00:47:36 three four or five years
00:47:39 He will be in the conversation for Mount Rushmore of wide receivers in terms of like his total numbers and the dominance
00:47:45 He's had every single season. He's been in the NFL. He's out. Yeah, I was in the arts
00:47:48 Yep, also Jason light very cool guy very cool
00:47:50 I like Jason light a lot
00:47:52 But I still have that red flag in the back of my head with Jason light that he likes Stephen Che and also he might
00:47:57 Be James one one. Yes that - yeah
00:48:00 My cool throne is friend of the program Dan Hurley after winning the Big East title regular season
00:48:05 He went out to the bar and celebrate. Oh nice fans and students first time. They want it in since
00:48:10 Yeah, so
00:48:13 Love him was he drinking this?
00:48:15 Probably literally all Dan Hurley has done since max joined this podcast is win. Yeah, it's true crazy
00:48:21 And they you guys tell me if I'm wrong. This is the best chance for a repeat since the 0607 Gators. Yeah, probably
00:48:28 Yeah, yeah, I mean usually a team loses some key pieces they did but they're gonna be one seed
00:48:33 They have a chance to do it. Yeah, they absolutely do
00:48:35 Okay, good job boys. Let's get to our interview. We have Diana Rossini great interview with Diana
00:48:41 Okay, we now welcome on a very special guest. She is a friend of ours hasn't been on the show yet
00:48:48 It is her part of my take debut been way too long probably long overdue. That's our fault. It is Diana Rossini from the Athletic
00:48:56 Lead NFL reporter. Can I say that? Yeah senior insider senior insider
00:49:01 From the Athletic we were to talk some combined. We're gonna talk some football
00:49:06 You brought two sodas though
00:49:09 Are those for us?
00:49:13 No, okay
00:49:15 Someone really special on this show. Mmm, so you broke maybe the the story of the year Super Bowl week
00:49:21 when our producer Max Delenti
00:49:24 decided to rip farts on a
00:49:27 Plane with two sodas and a burrito burrito was was the big mistake. Should we do this part now max you want to?
00:49:34 Okay, it's my show. Okay. So why don't you come down and sit down here max?
00:49:40 Let's let's just get this out of the way. This is what the people want to hear and we'll talk some NFL
00:49:43 My first question is Diana you you do have a thing for Philly guys. You're married to a Philly guy
00:49:51 Is there a part of this entire?
00:49:53 Like escapade where maybe you have a little crush on max. So I've always liked max on the show
00:49:59 Anyways, I just never knew what max looked like because I just listened you guys. Yeah
00:50:02 So the entire time he was sitting next to me. I had no idea that was max and
00:50:07 You know
00:50:09 the biggest issue I had
00:50:10 With this thing was the fact that I'm texting a friend of mine that being PFT about just my irritation in the moment and to then
00:50:17 Reveal the source on it all you had to have known that was going to happen
00:50:22 We have a really good honest friendship. I never thought he would do that to me
00:50:28 No, because you usually feed me bullshit stories
00:50:31 100% thought he would do that because that's I mean, you know, I think I think Diana knew what she was doing
00:50:39 But she does send me a lot of bullshit. So what was the one you sent me yesterday? Just to scare me?
00:50:43 Commanders trading out signing Baker. Yeah, that's what I
00:50:50 It felt it was very funny and it was great reporting the level of detail that
00:50:55 It was so detailed
00:50:59 here's the problem max was sitting next to me and
00:51:01 Usually you make some sort of eye contact with the people next to you not long right because it's awkward. It's weird. It's tight
00:51:08 He never even
00:51:10 Slightly looked to his right
00:51:11 He just looked straightforward almost as if I got to get through this flight and not vomit that it and he just stunk of hangover
00:51:19 Just you know that it's like a mix of it's like a little bit of this again. It's a little bit of BO
00:51:24 It's a little bit of beer. It was
00:51:27 Yeah, no, I put on clothes. I got right on the airport. It was it was panic time
00:51:31 I thought I was missing that flight for sure. Yeah, you made it you were fine
00:51:34 once you sat but I could the sweat was
00:51:37 you're sweating I I
00:51:40 also had like 20 minutes like once I got to the airport to get through security get on the plane and
00:51:47 Yeah
00:51:49 So we've all been there and we've all been late, but I don't know about you guys
00:51:53 But I just grabbed you know a bag of chips something something quick
00:51:55 I was probably that was that was the smart play you get the dry shitty turkey sandwich
00:52:00 Saucy meaty
00:52:03 Yeah, no, I regret it
00:52:05 - so does the - so does I will fight tooth and nail I obviously am well aware what I'm in for when I see the
00:52:12 Man next to me eating the burrito like I knew I was in for it
00:52:15 I was like do you use bad but then the two sodas you're like whoa. This is very bad
00:52:19 It's - it was actually three. We've been mr.
00:52:23 No, cuz it was
00:52:25 It was the it was the the two Pepsi's and then the Mexican orange thing that is just all sugar
00:52:32 This is wrong. This is wrong. I it was I went to the burrito place got the Mexican orange soda and a water
00:52:39 That's never never so you drink water never say
00:52:44 That is a fact and then they came through and I was asleep during the probably when I was farting
00:52:50 During the soda call and then they came back to me and said oh you were asleep for the beverage. Do you want soda?
00:52:58 And you chug that thing you threw it back I was thirsty, you know, I missed the the I
00:53:07 Was dehydrated?
00:53:10 Usually listen to podcasts on a plane, but I was trying to catch up on work stuff
00:53:14 So I was in like text mode and taking notes based off my text of stories
00:53:17 I was trying to chase at the Super Bowl
00:53:19 So because of that I didn't have air pods and so I could hear everything which is why it was so clear how often you were
00:53:25 farting
00:53:27 And so clear why the music was so loud
00:53:39 It was so loud played something and then it went into like a
00:53:43 mix of like like this song that you played and I was I
00:53:49 Was in a bad spot. I like didn't want to like pull out my shit to like change anything
00:53:54 I was like, all right, I'm in this zone. Let me just stay here. I'll listen to this my way out
00:53:58 Well, I also didn't know I didn't know I was farting like I we had two sodas, dude
00:54:03 Well the soda the fart the farts were before the sodas
00:54:07 I
00:54:09 Remember when I got up to use the restroom
00:54:11 Yeah, okay
00:54:12 So I was wearing like a like a sweatsuit and it was like a little bit of a crop top and I remember thinking I
00:54:17 Don't want to face this guy with half my skin out, you know
00:54:20 But I also don't want to put my butt on him. Like I had to make a quick decision
00:54:25 Yeah, and I and so on the way there I went back and the way back. Oh in front
00:54:29 I try to make eye contact you. Yeah, I try to give him like just a courtesy like hey, dude
00:54:34 Sorry, I'm giving you a lapper like while we're going to bed and he you just you could I could have been naked
00:54:39 You weren't even gonna look
00:54:41 But you weren't gonna see anything you didn't want to see anything you just didn't want to obviously
00:54:50 Afterwards did it dawn on you like you're on the plane you're working on all these stories for Super Bowl week
00:54:58 Did you realize we have a moment? We're like and the biggest story of Super Bowl week was sitting right next to me
00:55:03 I did not realize that until I got to Las Vegas and you guys did the show and people were stopping me all
00:55:11 Week long. I would I three times as a different parties and people were sending me over soda
00:55:16 But I obviously felt terrible about six sodas I apologize that you're
00:55:25 You're associated with all these drinks and and obviously the farting thing which everyone is guilty of doing on airplanes
00:55:33 Um, but I I'm sorry that that he aired that all out. I our friendship has changed completely. I'm not sorry
00:55:40 Yeah, I'm not sorry either. I don't I don't retract my record rate
00:55:43 You can retract this what you did what you did. That's the best thing that's ever happened to the two of them
00:55:47 Oh, absolutely
00:55:48 And you had to know I don't think that you're innocent in this because content is what?
00:55:54 Drives this whole thing the second you sent that text it was being said on air
00:55:59 But but the thing is a bit of an irritable mood, right? I didn't sleep
00:56:03 No, no, and even the guy next to me was hungover and eating so I'm stuck between these two guys and Hank made the best
00:56:10 Point why was I sitting middle seat, you know?
00:56:12 Actually, I actually gave my my first class seat up to a true someone in the service
00:56:21 But then, you know, of course that that is not the truth
00:56:26 I really just wanted to be part of all the action in economy. Yeah. Yeah, we know Donnie knows all of that
00:56:31 So that's where the fun times are in an economy. So here's thing
00:56:35 I've flown now twice since then and both experiences. I I think I miss you a little
00:56:40 By the way after I found out after all this we have tons of connections in Philadelphia
00:56:47 I got that there's like weddings that I guess we've been at together our friends have been or
00:56:51 It's Philly, right? Everybody
00:56:54 So you've probably been around max farting before correct. So I am now just used to the scent
00:56:59 So it's it's it's good to be back with you Max natural natural scent at this
00:57:02 There was a moment when it was it was like right as she was texting me these updates as they were coming in
00:57:08 We're sitting in the hotel room in Vegas and we're getting ready to record the pod and you looked over me and you had the
00:57:13 sheepish look on your face and it was like you were like was uh
00:57:16 Is your friend Diana on a plane today?
00:57:19 And you knew even before I brought it up
00:57:21 So it was like in the back. I think you might have recognized her but you're like, I really hope that wasn't her
00:57:26 Yeah, that is correct
00:57:29 But I also didn't know of the farting I knew about the burrito though
00:57:33 So I was like, so I remember I those are one in the same you put a burrito in that body
00:57:39 It's gonna produce like it's a farm if I'm awake. I'm clenching. I'm like making sure that you're like an easy-bake oven for farts
00:57:47 You just like put the food in and boom. Yeah, all right
00:57:49 But the thing is it's like I if I knew I was farting it would have been a different. Yeah situation
00:57:56 Is there any possibility? I'm not questioning your reporting day. Now. Obviously, this is a wonderful piece of journalism
00:58:01 Is there any possibility that I want you to ask that? No, no you do
00:58:05 The other guy that was sitting next to you that was also hung. Was there a second farter?
00:58:09 So I'm really glad you brought him up because he also chose to eat a sandwich
00:58:13 He didn't go burrito style and he was one of those type a types
00:58:17 Like I could tell like he would take a bite wipe his face
00:58:19 He was just he was the complete opposite of the man to the left of me
00:58:23 But he I could tell he was struggling to a bit
00:58:26 So it I mean what that flight from Newark to Vegas was about five five and a half hours
00:58:31 So yeah that was up there as one of the worst flight experiences I've ever had and I've thrown up on flights
00:58:37 Yeah, but that that probably topped it Sean McDermott. We'll use that as a lesson before training camp. I also
00:58:42 Ate the burrito extremely fast. I
00:58:47 Think that I'm like this guy's a freaking animal
00:58:50 I also I would I got about like 75% of the way and I was like, I don't want this anymore
00:58:55 But then if you think about it, what do you do with a quarter of a burrito like?
00:59:00 So I Mike I was like I need to finish this yeah before we start moving you need to make more farts have an open burrito
00:59:12 Right as a foot like it's not like a sandwich that you can like put back in right?
00:59:16 You're like unwrapping it as you're as you're going. So I was I remember thinking I was like this I was like, I hope
00:59:23 Nobody sees this but I need to finish this immediately
00:59:26 Immediately
00:59:30 Get to sleep really but I guess those were one in the same
00:59:34 And I just needed a vent to someone and you just happen to be the victim of it
00:59:40 well, no what happened was I tweeted out a picture of Miley Cyrus on TV because the Grammys night and Max was standing in front of
00:59:47 The TV and you saw that and you were like is that guy you just tweet a picture
00:59:51 Landed I was like wait, that looks like burrito boy
00:59:55 That's when I text you do I said hey, is that a producer of yours that you just took?
01:00:01 No, I said who's that man in the picture? That's it. And then you're like, that's Max. I'm like, oh, I love Max
01:00:05 Oh my god, that was the guy next to me though. Yeah, so Max, are we cool? Is everything cool between you two? Yeah
01:00:11 You said that she was your mortal enemy in the moment you were and I still kind of think that
01:00:18 Maybe you have to give him maybe you have to give him some type of insider information about the Eagles at some point to make
01:00:27 It right. Yeah. Yeah, that's Max. Come on. I'll negotiate for you
01:00:31 No, this would be good. Yes
01:00:33 Don't do what he doesn't read him. Yeah, I told that's not fair because I told you they were going on the show
01:00:40 Yeah, and also the minute you said again, yeah, you know
01:00:43 I think you knew what you were doing. All right, Diana. We're at the combine now we can talk some football
01:00:51 First of all, what what does combine week look like for you?
01:00:56 Are you just walking around just getting talking to everyone getting all this like news?
01:01:00 I mean, is it just non-stop? So I went to dinner
01:01:03 Yesterday at four o'clock and I call it dinner. It's not really dinner, right? Yeah, because it's for it's like a late lunch
01:01:09 I guess and I sat there and I had six back-to-backs
01:01:12 meetings with different people and the bartender like for four dudes in he's like
01:01:18 Are you I like gonna date like in a dating service? I said, first of all, why would you ever call me out?
01:01:22 Yeah, but I said no
01:01:23 I'm just taking meetings cuz I just stayed in the same spot and I just kept I just kept eating and drinking
01:01:28 That's a funny visual. Yeah, just a revolving door of a bunch of coaches
01:01:32 Agents coaches GM's one owner just having conversations catching up just kind of talking about things that are coming up and
01:01:41 Most of the conversations I'm having now are really just how you doing?
01:01:45 you know, no one really wants to get into the football stuff just yet, but
01:01:48 I'm not traveling as much anymore because I change I change jobs as you guys know
01:01:52 So for me, it's really just getting back in front of people's faces and being like hey, I'm here
01:01:57 Yeah, so you left ESPN. You're now my co-worker at the Athletic. I write the premium plus newsletter. Oh my
01:02:03 What what was the thought process like when you switched over?
01:02:07 Are you like any regrets about leaving is ESPN because I know a lot of people
01:02:12 They're scared to leave ESPN because the magnifying glass that you're under like the microscope the megaphone whatever you want to call it
01:02:18 Like there's a spotlight that people think about with ESPN and then to go out on your own is like, okay a little bit different
01:02:23 Change of pace here. Yeah, I was scared out of my mind
01:02:26 It was one of those situations where you know, you got to move, you know, you have to change it, but comforts awesome
01:02:32 But I like to be comfort. I got two kids
01:02:34 The athletic gave me just a pretty incredible opportunity to to get better actually and and I think it's been a really good few months
01:02:42 But that first week when I took the job
01:02:44 It I was a disaster just trying to understand like did I just jump off ship of the best place to work for?
01:02:52 What I do for a living, you know, it's it's ESPN. There's still a gigantic, you know media outlet
01:02:57 But I figured after about two weeks and I started to actually write and do things with the athletic
01:03:02 It was like, oh, it doesn't matter as long as you have information. Yeah, that's all you need
01:03:05 Yeah, and the I thought it's great. Like I read it all the time
01:03:08 There's always great like plugged in people and you fit in seamlessly there. I have one question about your job
01:03:14 That's a little weird is two-part question
01:03:16 So one of the hardest things I think you probably have to do and you could tell me I'm way wrong
01:03:21 After a game when you're trying to talk to a player coming off a field. How do you approach that?
01:03:26 Cuz I see that, you know, I'll see on TV
01:03:28 It's like oh, there's Diana talking to you know, Travis Kelsey walking off the field
01:03:32 Like how do you because it's got to be like a touch-and-go situation. I'd assume well if it's a good situation, it's easy as heck
01:03:39 Hey Travis, how are you?
01:03:41 How's teller, you know, that's easy that day was bad. There was a you probably saw it on Instagram
01:03:47 I was walking off with Travis after they lost the Jets and I mean if you have relationships with these guys
01:03:54 They know what you're doing
01:03:54 They know who you are and they're just talking knowing that whatever they're gonna say probably is gonna get hit the print and yeah on television
01:04:00 but I wouldn't I don't think talking to players after games is really that difficult, but
01:04:06 If you have a good relationship that that's usually where it can come handy and think about most of the times after games you're talking to
01:04:13 The happy people, you know, right, you know, you're very rarely going up to Brock Purdy one-on-one on the field being like so this
01:04:19 So, alright, so the second part of the question is you I would assume it's happened many years in a row
01:04:25 But I know this year you were in the locker room after the Super Bowl
01:04:29 Do you go to the losing locker room at all? I do
01:04:31 I always swing in there first just to see if anyone's
01:04:34 Acting up or crying or if anyone just wants to talk about situations because that's usually when they're in their most raw state
01:04:42 Yeah, right after they lost so I did I circled
01:04:45 And I always just kind of try to follow my instincts on things
01:04:49 I'm like, I think I should probably go see what they're doing in there
01:04:52 Especially the type of season the Chiefs had this year knowing it wasn't as easy as it had been in the past
01:04:58 I bet you they're going crazy. Yeah, and oh my god
01:05:01 I have never seen a locker room like that after Super Bowl win and I was actually talking to my homes about it
01:05:07 And he's like it's the year we had it just felt that much better
01:05:11 even though he's been there before he knows that it feels like and obviously because they've lost a
01:05:15 Super Bowl before for them just the idea of going back to back and being able to kind of prove to everyone this year that
01:05:21 Yeah, maybe we didn't have some top-dog receivers, but look at us man. We figured it out and we were the whole thing
01:05:26 That's awesome. That has to be kind of a pinch me moment being in the Super Bowl winning locker room because like that's it
01:05:32 That's it. That's where it is. Sometimes one of the hardest things in my job is you have all these conversations
01:05:38 and you're running around and sometimes you don't even know what to do because you're there's so many people you need to talk to in
01:05:43 Storylines that you want to jump on and there's great storylines. I want to go talk to Chris Jones
01:05:47 I want to ask him what he thinks about his future now, you know
01:05:50 How badly do you want to stay in Kansas City?
01:05:52 I want to go up to Travis talk about what this feels like
01:05:54 You know
01:05:55 So you have to kind of quickly because you're only allowed in there for a few minutes
01:05:58 Figure out fast who you have to go to and what you want to get
01:06:02 um
01:06:03 And sometimes I I'm in these conversations and there's news there and I don't even realize it until about an hour later
01:06:10 I'm like, oh my god, like I went up to Travis and I was like man. This is awesome. Hi, you feel good
01:06:14 He's like didn't we just do this conversation? I said, yeah last year. He's like, well, let's do it again next year
01:06:20 Let's go for three
01:06:20 So he said it to me right after the game, right?
01:06:23 And I was like do do do do do running around talking to whoever next and then in the back then later
01:06:27 I was like, oh crap. He basically just called it out. We're gonna go for three
01:06:30 He's not retiring
01:06:32 Take a breath in the moment be like, okay, this is something but that that locker room was really cool
01:06:39 Look, that's a really fun group. Anyways, whether they win or lose even when they lose I've been around them before they're all pros
01:06:45 They're good
01:06:45 Yeah
01:06:46 I think one of the best things that the athletic does is the the postmortems
01:06:49 Whether it's like a coach that got fired and they go back
01:06:51 They they review all the shit that happened there or a season that didn't go the right way
01:06:55 The athletic does a very good job of of covering like the dysfunction
01:06:58 There was one report that you had earlier this year
01:07:01 Regarding the Jets dysfunction memes our producer called you a liar
01:07:06 I think I think he was very upset
01:07:09 I think a lot of people were upset about the Jets report, but I thought it was pretty well done
01:07:12 Do you want to address?
01:07:14 Allegations for memes that you're liar. Well, which one of the 30 sources did you think lied? Yeah, there were 30 30 sources
01:07:21 30 sources memes. Yeah
01:07:24 Which one was 30 people just said, you know what I'm gonna tell you stories then they're all fabricated
01:07:29 memes memes memes
01:07:32 worth 30
01:07:35 Wait, wait, that's that's way too many sources. So wait 30 is 30 is ridiculous
01:07:44 So at the athletic because the standards are outrageously high were owned by the New York Times
01:07:49 you have to supply the editors with your list of
01:07:53 the people that you're speaking to and
01:07:55 We had a list together after putting together the piece and writing it and and it was actually 30 plus
01:08:02 More so and then I'll attach the name that we send to our editor is the information that person gave us the quotes the details
01:08:10 So, huh?
01:08:12 So, let me ask you a question means just hypothetical
01:08:14 What if Diana was what if her name was Dan Rossini and she was a man would you have believed the sources more? No
01:08:23 Huh
01:08:25 Interesting seems like being a little misogynistic
01:08:27 Misogynistic here. No, whoever wrote it would be alive. Okay
01:08:32 Cuz he just which part of the story cuz you obviously right at which part of the story bothered you the most which what detail do
01:08:39 You go? She's a liar. She's a job. I hate her
01:08:42 the headline
01:08:45 So wait, so Diana though like a big picture like do you you have to deal with this all the time?
01:08:52 We're fans no matter what cuz we're crazy. We're remember I live in Jets land, right?
01:08:56 so like what has there ever been a specific story that you
01:09:00 Reported and released that got like way more backlash than you expected. You're like, what the fuck like I'm reporting. I'm doing my job
01:09:08 Um about seven years ago six years ago, maybe now I fired Doug Moran and he didn't get fired
01:09:13 You always have that one really bad one. That was I will see this Jets piece was tough this one
01:09:20 I think Jets fans are in denial
01:09:23 That would be memes, right?
01:09:25 They just don't want they want to call people liars because they don't want to believe that it's actually that bad that the cultures
01:09:31 So don't don't blame the team blame the reporter that you know uncovered all of this blame the play, you know
01:09:38 Whichever however, they sleep at night with it. So because I live in an area where there's Jets fans, you know
01:09:44 I have people coming up to me and like even just went to the eye doctor and the guy that was helping me was like
01:09:49 Come on, like what do you mean? I'm a reporter. My job is to give you facts. Don't be mad at me
01:09:54 You know people want me to say. All right, we dramatized it. It's not really that bad. Aaron's great
01:09:59 He's kumbaya with everybody when the reality is it's it's it's a mess in New York. It's really bad and
01:10:06 Per 30 is true though. You're you're you found you're you're absolutely right the Jets fans for some reason
01:10:12 They're like this isn't the truth. We're like if you wrote that story about the Bears like she probably missed some correct
01:10:18 Yeah, it's probably way worse than that
01:10:19 So a lot of people have been asking me how I've been managing the Jets since then right because they you would think they would
01:10:24 Hate me right? They're great. I love the Jets like there. I talked to all of them still because
01:10:29 It's when you're wrong, that's where the tension comes with teams and or if you don't
01:10:38 Inform a team that a piece is coming out and that's something that we do at the Athletic if we're gonna put out something
01:10:44 With that much Intel and information that's gonna make the owner the coach the GM that the core everybody the OC look bad
01:10:52 You have to call them and say here's what we're doing. So
01:10:55 New York was well aware of everything that was coming out
01:10:58 Yeah
01:10:59 It's got to feel kind of awesome though when you're because you're really good at your job and when you do it well
01:11:03 And you know, there's gonna be people like memes
01:11:06 They're gonna be like you're a liar and it's like I'm doing my job and I crushed it like I know the truth
01:11:11 I found the truth. Yes, but I would prefer to tell memes that things are so good
01:11:16 Yeah, but no one wants to read that true
01:11:18 Yeah, but I am working a bunch of pieces coming up where it's just like how teams have survived
01:11:23 Issues that the Jets didn't figure out like like the Cleveland Browns how they were able to have success after Joe Flacco
01:11:30 Deshaun Watson goes down. I'm right judge again in the jet seat, right?
01:11:33 So sometimes taking the bad stories and focusing on the dysfunction you can then go highlight some of the teams that are doing it, right?
01:11:39 But again, most people like the dysfunction like I did a whole story on the Panthers as well
01:11:44 Where it was it was like Hunger Games in that place
01:11:47 Yeah
01:11:47 the scenes of everyone killing the other to just stay alive and not get fired by Tepper and
01:11:52 It was a it was a mess. It seems to be better from from what I understand now
01:11:56 But that if you remember that's when we did that story. It was like early November
01:12:01 Yeah, there's still so much season. You need to forward that story to Peter Schrager
01:12:05 I think he missed it because he tried to tell us that David Tepper is not crazy. Yeah, good guy
01:12:09 Yeah, did you know that he bought his old boss's house and bulldoze it at the ground? Yes
01:12:13 It's a great move. I actually like
01:12:16 evil cartoon billionaire mindset like he is actually what I think about when I think of the the like
01:12:23 Power hungry owner that doesn't know how to work with people
01:12:26 So if you're that rich like I would never live in another man's house owners in general are very there. They are unique
01:12:33 I
01:12:34 Try not to think about how much money they have when I'm talking to them because I probably would run away like a little girl
01:12:39 Because they could destroy my life. They could just buy my family. Yeah, or just buy tell someone to kill us
01:12:45 Not your dad though. Your dad could beat up anybody. Yes
01:12:48 school
01:12:58 Table cuz maybe not everybody is aware of it when Jalen Ramsey almost got into a fight with Doug Marone and you said I think
01:13:05 Doug Marone would beat him up because he went to high school where my dad went to high school my dad's from the Bronx
01:13:10 Yeah, and I said something like Doug Marone's from the Bronx and you know, you don't mess with people like that
01:13:15 and then of course all
01:13:17 all the award-winning listeners
01:13:19 Flood my Twitter for years, by the way, and we'll just be like every time the Bronx is mentioned be like, oh, can you beat him up?
01:13:27 Like just whatever it is. It's so annoying. It's this like mob mentality. You cannot and they don't forget
01:13:33 No, don't forget. Don't forget. We're not reminding them right now. Let me go
01:13:38 Yeah, but my second favorite Diana Rossini moment of all time was I think it was at Foxboro. I think it's
01:13:45 2017 you were working for ESPN. You're doing the pregame report there on the sidelines. It was cold
01:13:50 It was giant thermometer season and you had a glass of water
01:13:54 Because we're gonna show a science experiment of how cold it was
01:13:57 You filled the water up to the top and then you said I filled this water up ten minutes ago
01:14:01 Now watch how cold it is and then you turn the cup upside down and you just poured out a cup of water
01:14:06 Did you think that that was gonna fly under the radar for a little bit or were you immediately like fuck?
01:14:11 No in the moment. I just my head was just like just keep going. So I was like, can you see there's the water?
01:14:16 So it's cold out here, but obviously not that cold, but that's all right back to you
01:14:21 And you just I just kept going hoping no one would notice that the point of the project was I was freezing the water
01:14:26 Yeah, but I did get some redemption last year. They sent me to Buffalo. It was like negative 9,000 and I did it again and
01:14:32 Yeah, I do miss people ask me that you miss ESPN
01:14:37 I miss it all the time and miss the people I work with obviously, you know
01:14:40 Adams a friend of the show here and he was one of my good friends when I worked there. We're not friends anymore
01:14:44 But yeah, you're a text thread. Yeah, they kicked me off their group text
01:14:49 But it's doing stuff like that was always so stupid and fun, but just being out with the fans. I used to love that
01:14:54 yeah, has there been a player or coach who's gotten mad at you for a specific story where they're like
01:15:00 You you burn me or something like that like that. You're like fuck that sucks. Yeah, Mike Rabel
01:15:06 He called me the day after an aggregator took something. I said that basically said Mike Rabel's too fat to work. Oh, yeah
01:15:14 That was a good story. So that was that was a too fat. You said he's a large person
01:15:19 He is this what I shared on on the football podcast on the athletic was that I had dinner with a GM
01:15:27 at the Senior Bowl and we had conversations about how bizarre this last coaching cycle was and
01:15:32 How crazy it was that Belichick and variable didn't have gigs and I said, why do you you know?
01:15:37 What do you think that that Mike didn't get a job?
01:15:39 He said I think they needed a change there in Tennessee
01:15:42 But in terms of the next opportunity, I think there's a lot of people who are very intimidated by him
01:15:48 He walks into a room and and he's confident and he's a physically a big human being
01:15:54 Yeah, and it's a little startling at first
01:15:56 Very normal, right when we say this to you, right?
01:15:59 These are all facts by the way, and we love coach for able and he is I mean
01:16:03 That's what I'd want out of my football coach, correct?
01:16:05 His hands are the size of your head, right?
01:16:07 He hit me on the back at the combine a few years ago. I like almost coughed up. Yeah, so
01:16:13 When that the aggregators took that and changed all this
01:16:16 You know the way I said it so that that wasn't great to hear from a not too happy head coach to begin
01:16:23 Well former head coach now
01:16:24 He didn't call me after the piece we did on why he got fired
01:16:27 But the piece on him calling him a little fat. He wasn't - yeah
01:16:30 I mean, I think was the body shaming because he only sold the aggregator
01:16:35 Yeah, see my the way it was framed was like Mike variables fat and and GM's don't want a fat guy
01:16:41 Yeah, fat to coach to fat to coach and I was like wait, I like fat coaches. That's not that's messed up
01:16:45 But you guys know his personality. He yeah, he's not very flowery, right? So I'm like I see him call. I'm like
01:16:51 I'm like, hey coach. What's going on? Yeah, and he's like, what are you doing?
01:16:56 Like what are you talking about? He's like, why are you talking about my body?
01:16:59 The aggregators really do that sometimes though. They're the ones that fans should get mad at yeah aggregators. Yeah, not the reporters
01:17:08 I believe me they're good in some spaces
01:17:11 Especially someone like me who's at a place not as big as ESPN
01:17:15 Where's I used to go on ESPN if you say it goes everywhere
01:17:17 So sometimes it's great to have it aggregated and it's pushed out and then it probably caught you know catches your attention
01:17:22 If you don't go to the athletic that day, but most of the time
01:17:26 It's completely misrepresented. Yeah, and then all these storylines are floating around the NFL. It's like what?
01:17:31 Yeah, I have a really hard time right now
01:17:34 Deciphering is this a real report? Yeah. No, there's a lot. There's a lot of clickbait
01:17:38 There's a lot of people reporting stuff and it's just like where did this come from?
01:17:41 Like deleted tweets is weird. Yeah, and then people just grabbing like Justin Fields celebrating in his kitchen
01:17:47 I saw there was all over my timeline today and someone's like that was from six years ago
01:17:51 Yeah, so I said Falcons the background like oh, he's going. Yeah
01:17:54 Don't get me wrong. I saw it right away. I was like, I gotta make calls
01:17:59 He's traded yeah, that's crazy. So what's gonna happen this week? Are there gonna be any trades made anything big?
01:18:05 Yeah, I I think Chicago's gonna get moving on this for sure with fields. Yeah, I
01:18:09 Been stalking their people all week. You asked me what I've been doing
01:18:13 So there's some people you can set meetings up with and me and there's some people who just aren't gonna do it with you
01:18:19 Right, so then you have to figure out where are they gonna be?
01:18:21 This sounds so creepy by the way
01:18:23 But you can figure out just from talking to people around Lee who's at what forum or who's?
01:18:28 Gonna sit down with CAA or whatever at this time and kind of you just go float in there and hope that you can catch
01:18:34 Them so I've been chasing bears for a few days. I can help you. We track him down. You know, yeah, I know Ryan
01:18:41 So we'll set a trap for him. What's Ryan saying? Yeah, uh, he told me that
01:18:46 I'm actually not allowed to say oh wow. It's hard to be a reporter. I think I told you wait tell me
01:18:53 Exploring all options. Yeah, there was another part of him not a lot of say also I sent him my tape from the combine and he
01:18:59 said
01:19:00 We'll we'll take a look at it. I don't think he took a look at it
01:19:03 We did a combine last week
01:19:06 Yeah, I gotta see how that is, but I'm expecting
01:19:11 definitely some action there
01:19:14 I just I just hope the next few days are actually a little quiet because it's just been crazy
01:19:19 And I mean you guys are on your phones all the time, you know
01:19:22 You just if it's your job to be on your phone it completely messes up your life
01:19:27 Yeah, I mean we should just clarify like you're on your phone like working on stories. We're like scrolling Instagram and
01:19:33 College basketball
01:19:39 Flight simulator
01:19:42 That has been the hardest transition for me from going from ESPN to the athletic is the responsibility
01:19:47 I do have now and getting information so that requires me to be on my phone at all times and you can
01:19:52 Determine when news is gonna break, right?
01:19:54 So we all have a wild stories of when stuff breaks and you're not in a great spot
01:19:59 You know whether you're driving or you're on vacation you're skiing
01:20:02 And I had one actually and max
01:20:04 I'll tell you one day what the actual scoop was, but I had someone from Philly call me
01:20:09 it was when everything was starting to fall apart and
01:20:12 I
01:20:14 Have a two-year-old and a one-year-old and it was bath time and I put there two little boys
01:20:18 so I put them in the bath together and
01:20:20 There are some people who call you there's some sources you draw you don't care about the safety of your children you you answer the call
01:20:27 So they're in the water and I'm thinking this is not safe, but I have to take this call
01:20:33 Yeah, so my thought was all right. I'll draw up to uphold the drain. I'll turn the water off and they'll just sit there
01:20:38 They'll be okay
01:20:40 Well, I didn't consider a couple things so I take the call I run and get like a notebook
01:20:47 so I left them real quick because I have to write down the stuff that this person sharing with me and
01:20:51 I'm so locked in on the information. I had kind of have half my eye on the boys and
01:20:57 then my two-year-old jumps out and
01:21:00 Joey my one year old is just sitting in there and I look and
01:21:03 Poop and the two-year-old runs out and he goes
01:21:07 And my one year old pooped in the tub
01:21:10 So I let the two-year-old just run away because he just obviously didn't like it and then I just hear him go
01:21:15 Oh
01:21:17 So then he throws up and by the way, I'm still on the phone. Yeah, and I'm horrified that this person can hear it, too. And
01:21:22 Thank God my husband walked in like a minute later
01:21:26 And he just you have to kind of decide in those moments when nothing's working. Am I gonna cry?
01:21:31 Yeah, laugh at this shit, right?
01:21:33 So I just laughed and he laughed too of just like what are we gonna do?
01:21:38 I'm supposed to be the senior insider getting this great story on the Eagles
01:21:42 It's good. And by the way, he was very invested because it was the Eagles, right?
01:21:46 Cuz I showed him who it was and he's a go. I understood why you took that, you know
01:21:49 You know, but what do you what are you gonna do poop in the bathtub is the worst?
01:21:53 What is that? Why do they do that? I don't know. I've had it a few times
01:21:56 Myself personally I pooped in a bathtub and then a couple times my kids as well
01:22:01 And it's just like you just panic and you're just like well, what the fuck?
01:22:04 What do we do now was my thought - and it when it was happening?
01:22:06 I'm like, where do I go first - the two-year-old is running around the house or the one year old sitting?
01:22:11 You got to get him you got to get
01:22:13 You got to get out of the poop and then you got to figure out what to do with him around a lot of
01:22:18 You're not disgusted by the poop in the tub, but sitting next to Max that's
01:22:23 I'll actually have Diana's back here. There's something it's like kind of like having a dog where it's like if you see another dog's poop
01:22:30 Yeah, but it's your own dog like your own kids. I am so desensitized to everything. Yes, just like whatever
01:22:37 I've actually gotten really good at timing my son's puke and I'm like three for three on the last three
01:22:41 Getting them like to the sink or the toilet. I'm like, I'm pretty proud of myself watching Tyler's puke is
01:22:47 Anything they just start puking wherever they are at that moment
01:22:57 Yeah, so I actually had a question about this like cuz you your mom of two you work all the time
01:23:04 You're incredible at your job. Like how do you do it? Like that's I
01:23:07 Don't know how you do it. Like this is I guess it may be a compliment but like it is insanely impressive
01:23:13 Yeah, I I lose my mind a lot
01:23:15 You know
01:23:15 I try to you have to obviously I have like a good partnership and somebody that gets it and I married
01:23:20 The biggest football head in America who's never played football in his life, but he's just a big nerd
01:23:26 So it helps because I needed somebody I married someone that understood it, right?
01:23:30 That's not I mean, I wasn't looking for that when I met him, but it just worked out that he happens to be
01:23:35 Oddly obsessed with the NFL so I don't ever have to explain why I had to take calls why I have to do certain things
01:23:41 In fact 90% of the time he's the one getting on me to be like you should get ahead on that
01:23:45 You know, you know, you should be calling right at which is also very annoying
01:23:48 But but but it's helpful in trying to balance it all. Yeah
01:23:51 Um, but I like that he understands the importance and the significance of the work that you're doing
01:23:55 It's like some some people marry like somebody that's creating a vaccine for like smallpox or something like honey
01:24:01 Your work is super important. He's like you're working on figuring out Jason Kelsey's coming back next year that takes priority
01:24:06 He he doesn't really get mad when when I have to like get up from the table or as long as I share it with him
01:24:13 Cuz he loves to like know about it. Yeah, I've answered phone calls in the car and speakerphone
01:24:16 Yeah, and he loves I actually have some sources that I'm tight enough now with they I'll be like, hey
01:24:21 I'm in the car cab and and he'll like ask a question. I'll look at him like shut the hell up
01:24:25 So I have one question about your husband that's a very important question
01:24:35 I listened to you when you were on with our friend Ryan Russo
01:24:38 Oh who I think he's still our friend. He has a weird rivalry with me
01:24:42 Which I didn't know about that. He revealed on his life advice
01:24:44 But when you went on Russo's podcast
01:24:48 You told the story that your husband was like prepping you and being like this is a big day
01:24:53 Because he's a big Russo fan big one
01:24:55 Did he do the same thing for this or no? He doesn't care about us that hurts
01:25:00 Stuff. Well, I can't tell damn message me right before I got in. Okay, all he said was be nice to Max
01:25:15 Nervous you're gonna be like no he doesn't
01:25:17 Cuz I don't have the time to always listen, you know, I love you guys but
01:25:23 He commutes a lot which that's a whole nother man. God bless people who have to commute
01:25:28 Especially an hour like he does so he'll listen to you guys and he'll just like shoot me a text if you guys had something
01:25:34 Good just to let me know. So all right good. That's cool. I have an embarrassing story about him
01:25:38 It's also tied into Russo. Oh, so I remember when you went on your first date with him
01:25:43 You called me and you were like, hey, I went on a date with this guy and we were talking about sports and I asked him
01:25:50 Who's one like sports media member that you think that you relate the most to and his answer was Ryan Russo
01:25:57 Yeah, I said who and not at all. Oh, I said just from like a like a
01:26:03 Personality standpoint, who do you connect to the most like hoodie and he's like Russo
01:26:08 Oh, he just loves the time. I was thinking, you know, cuz first date you're putting on your best, right?
01:26:13 Yeah, I mean and he was funny and he picked a her and he was in a good mood
01:26:17 My husband is the most miserable, dude
01:26:20 So he's Ryan that's why I also love right I'm obviously drawn to like grumpy ass people
01:26:27 He told me what he was right it was I chose it he never lied to me he was like I'm basically a
01:26:37 leaner
01:26:39 Ryan's body is banging
01:26:51 Always been just yeah great-looking in terms of his physique and all that and my husband is as well just isn't he's not as yoked
01:27:00 Okay, doesn't have time
01:27:05 But yeah, he's a very grumpy human being and I'd like to try to be the joy
01:27:11 That's that's great. That's very Philly of him. You've been around him. You know, he's like
01:27:14 He's okay, but he's a guy's guy
01:27:18 Yeah, he's okay. Sure. Like you but you like you've been around my family, right? Yeah, my family is psychotic. They're high energy
01:27:26 There you know, they want to have a good time and it kind of does too
01:27:29 But can't rather be alone and just watch a game like he just wants to watch the Philly
01:27:33 Do you know though that you're the craziest one in your family like you think that your family's crazy
01:27:37 But I don't think you're aware of the fact works that you're the most insane person in your family
01:27:41 You're your sister is the most normal person in the world. Your parents are lovely
01:27:45 They're a little bit crazy. You are the crazy one in your family. So I remember
01:27:50 PFT was gonna come down to my beach house
01:27:53 and I felt like I had to warn my parents of like what was coming to the house because
01:27:58 That's nice. He's a little unique. Yeah, so
01:28:02 I said hey, I just want to give you guys a heads up, you know
01:28:04 My friend's gonna come down and hang out with us for the weekend
01:28:07 He's got a lot of hair. He wears sunglasses all the time
01:28:11 You know and they just weren't really listening and when he walked in they were like what the fuck?
01:28:18 Who is this person right so we wound up hanging out like the backyard we're drinking beers and
01:28:26 My neighbors start like freaking out that he's there and you know, my parents are still like what why do people care?
01:28:33 What does he do? I said, oh, he's just on the radio because they don't they don't understand
01:28:37 Like I have a podcast starting soon. My dad thinks I'm gonna be on the fan, but he can't he can't separate it
01:28:42 So now your competition. Oh
01:28:44 Well, I thought we were on the same team. We're at the Athletic. Oh
01:28:48 like
01:28:50 Some of the stuff that you put out the fact that you put it with the Athletic now
01:28:54 It's just it's so funny to me because it sometimes it's believable
01:28:58 I'm like, this is kind of good reporting that we do
01:29:00 know the
01:29:02 I was the
01:29:04 Davis fired Josh McDaniels using a fortune cookie. Yeah from P. F. Chang's
01:29:08 Do they get pissed off about that I don't think they love it because it puts our name with false information when we work
01:29:17 So hard to be accurate. Yeah. Wow
01:29:19 About the Jets. Yeah
01:29:22 I'll be putting out my Jets retractions. Can I ask you a commander specific question?
01:29:26 So Justin Fields going to be traded we can say like probably right? I think it's yeah
01:29:31 I I think at this point right now this it's gonna happen. So the commander is probably taking Drake or
01:29:37 Jane Daniels with the second overall pick. Is there any chance that that's not what the plan is
01:29:44 And we're doing something else just based on talking to them this week. They're doing the typical, you know
01:29:50 We're gonna do our homework on all of it. I don't think they have a
01:29:53 Clear-cut answer to what they want to do because they're still free agent
01:29:59 veterans there too that could come into Washington and
01:30:02 Washington could obviously trade out if they want depending on if they're looking to build and get some more pictures
01:30:09 Now Kirk Cousins is really the story of all this right now in terms of who's gonna land him because he's
01:30:17 For all of this, I mean Kirk going back to Washington. I mean that would be I
01:30:21 Actually think that'd be a really good move
01:30:23 That's just my opinion just because when you look at Dan Quinn, you have a first-year head coach first-year GM
01:30:27 Owner owner, right?
01:30:30 You bring in a guy who a knows the city but B understands a winning culture understands what needs to be done
01:30:36 I
01:30:38 think that would be a good first step for this group, but
01:30:42 They may want to take a take a swing and see if they can get a rookie quarterback step in there
01:30:46 But here's the problem. You don't know right you have CJ Stroud. Oh my gosh, that's amazing
01:30:50 Of course, everyone knows that that that's the that's the dream but on the other side of it you have Bryce Young and it's nothing
01:30:55 Against Bryce. It's just he's gonna need some time
01:30:57 So I'm interested to see how aggressive Washington will be in the free veteran market
01:31:03 Because that'll kind of tell you where
01:31:06 Where they sit on all this. Yeah, I'm
01:31:08 For the record, I like Kirk Cousins. I think I've like done a 180 on you want Kirk Cousins back in Washington
01:31:14 I don't know because I I feel like
01:31:15 If you have this opportunity to take a great quarterback at the top of the draft get him on a rookie deal and then build
01:31:21 Around that that it seems like that's the right move for a franchise
01:31:24 That's trying to move on and and turn like a complete page
01:31:27 I you were there during the worst times
01:31:29 Correct of the Washington Redskins like it's been very dark for us
01:31:33 And so having this opportunity to like just move forward and start completely new
01:31:37 I feel like that's a good opportunity that would be hard to pass up now if it's Kirk Cousins to me that feels like they're
01:31:43 Like trying to win nine games
01:31:44 It's like let's win nine to ten games and not try to build like a Super Bowl contender in the future
01:31:50 I
01:31:51 mean if that's how you want to look at it, but I
01:31:53 See, why not continue to stockpile these picks and keep getting better and better in all the different positions no matter what happens
01:32:00 I'll spin myself into it. I'll be like that was a great
01:32:02 You're gonna be into it, which by the way, I don't know Jason, right?
01:32:06 Do you want to meet him? I just have never met him. So today I
01:32:12 See him pulling in or getting out of an uber and I went right out I said hi I said Diana Rossini
01:32:18 I apologize. It's taken this long for me to say hello to you. And he said hello. I'm Shane
01:32:23 Can I give you a lifeline here
01:32:34 It was a white guy, right?
01:32:36 It was yeah, that's tough. I know you just had a mistaken identity
01:32:41 Happens all the time. Damn. Oh my gosh. I'm Queen of I do that all the time
01:32:45 I the other day we had our athletic summit, right?
01:32:48 So what here in Indy we have everyone just comes together and no one really knows each other because we all work remotely
01:32:52 We know each other a little bit, but not really
01:32:54 So I was like, you know, I'm just gonna bite the bullet here. I'm just gonna go up to people and say hey, I'm Diana
01:32:58 How are you? What's your name? Which team do you cover? You know, plus I'm the new girl
01:33:01 so
01:33:03 first person I decide I want to go up to is standing right by where like the fruit and the coffee is and
01:33:08 I said I said hi, I'm Diana. Oh, who are you? And he said I'm Sam. I said, oh great
01:33:14 I said, what do you do at the athletic? He said I work at the Hyatt
01:33:17 What's wrong with me I'm like, yeah, I can't pick out the right people maybe I'm blind me my doctor gave me the wrong prescription
01:33:26 Do do people at the athletic or maybe even at ESPN? Are they ever like we we report we study the game
01:33:32 We watch film why the fuck do people listen to these two idiots? Yes
01:33:38 I
01:33:39 Say to myself. Yeah, I say to myself all the time really stressful days like it's free agency days draft days
01:33:45 Even playoffs I put you guys on
01:33:48 Because the rest of it's so stressful to me then I'm like, I just want to like slowly start my day feel smarter
01:33:55 Figure out how dumb these guys are and go the other way
01:34:03 Get information so I can have the accurate opinion on it all right based on all the the gibberish that they say on this stupid
01:34:09 It's a good palate cleanser for sure
01:34:11 Like if you're getting so much like if you get too down into the weeds and get too smart about football
01:34:16 I actually do think that it's important to like remind yourself
01:34:19 Sometimes that the vast majority of people that watch the sport and pay attention to the coverage just like fucking football. Yeah
01:34:28 I'm starting this podcast. I'm not gonna try to compete with you guys. I'll just be a friend of the show
01:34:33 We'd squash you happens. Are we well aware?
01:34:37 Well-aware, but I'm gonna try
01:34:39 So we have a podcast coming up and that's essentially kind of like the tone
01:34:43 I want I wanted to be informative good football
01:34:45 Using the stuff that I know
01:34:48 But also kind of just talking regular stuff as well. I can give you a tip
01:34:52 I would love some tip please if you want to keep it more casual
01:34:56 Do what PFT and I do where we'll only read the headline of a story because we don't have like a subscription to a certain
01:35:02 Site yeah, and then we just kind of guess what happens after are you subscribers to the Athletic? I am I am a subscriber
01:35:08 Yes, I am
01:35:09 But there's sometimes where there'll be like a story and it's just like well
01:35:13 I'll just read the first two sentences, and then we'll just go from there a good topic
01:35:16 Yeah
01:35:16 It's actually not a bad idea because you see what the story is about and then you kind of choose your own adventure
01:35:21 Yeah
01:35:22 As what you think it was written and then you react to what you think was written and you create a much more entertaining show
01:35:27 That way out of pure fiction. Yeah. No, there's a thing that has really helped me over the last years its credibility
01:35:33 So I think that's probably some of this
01:35:36 Why didn't Bill Belichick get a job why didn't he yeah, it was it too too big. I don't think Bill's that big
01:35:45 I think it was just his big attitude. Yeah, just wanting things to be his way. I also think in Atlanta
01:35:52 that situation
01:35:53 Ownership wanted him there and the other people on the other foot on the other side of the football operation did not which is weird
01:36:00 Why wouldn't that's kind of what Schefter would?
01:36:02 Yeah, but yeah, I get they lose their job, but I don't know that's just
01:36:07 Yeah, that's a bad way to run an organization is really what I'm gonna hire me to be the new up to be
01:36:12 On a podcast which would mean that your podcast would get canceled. Are you gonna support my hiring?
01:36:18 No, no, we'd squash you like a bug
01:36:21 No, but what I guess more I understand the people who are selfishly acting for themselves and being like we don't want Bill Belichick as
01:36:28 someone who roots for a
01:36:30 Dysfunctional organization and hopefully it's going in the right direction. It always feels like a common trend when it comes to bad organizations
01:36:38 It's a bunch of people trying to save their own job instead of thinking about
01:36:42 The future of the team and how can we get better and like playing the blame game and being like well?
01:36:48 I didn't draft that guy you draft that guy and yes that and the other that's just a bad way to run organization
01:36:53 It is but here's it is so hard to get one of these jobs, right?
01:36:57 You know you you look at the guys that don't have them now
01:36:59 And there's a lot of guys on the street outside Belichick and variable who are really smart and should be back in football
01:37:05 But can't get back in yeah, so when you're in the spot
01:37:08 You're doing everything to take care of that so you so you last but right does that make sense for an entire organization?
01:37:15 No, it's dumb every ownership should hate that right should hate hearing that anyone would be in self-preservation mode, but unfortunately these guys a lot of these guys
01:37:23 have
01:37:24 incredible
01:37:25 Salesmanship to them and they can get in order to believe in them when that person is really just believing in what they want to
01:37:31 Do and good for them?
01:37:32 It's it's very ironic because the reason why Bell are part of the reason why Belichick had so much success is that he was never
01:37:38 Thinking about keeping his job. He was thinking about what's good for his football team, and it's like if you see that
01:37:44 Why wouldn't you want that yeah?
01:37:45 And New England so interesting now too because it seems that they are really pumping up this new way this new post bill
01:37:51 Yeah, I'm a gentler well
01:37:53 I think they finally realized that the Patriot Way is just having Tom Brady on your team
01:37:58 That's a big part of the picture. I don't necessarily agree with all that
01:38:02 I really I think bill Belichick had a gigantic part of course you did no
01:38:06 I'm not saying Belichick didn't have a big part in it
01:38:08 I'm just saying the Patriot Way when you like well. This is the way they do it
01:38:12 They're kind of minimizing the fact that Tom Brady's the best quarterback of all time
01:38:15 And that's a lot of the like you could do anyway, but if you have Tom Brady you're gonna be
01:38:20 It was like is there a chiefs way no they have Patrick
01:38:23 Well, it's just gonna say you read said yes, or someone said you know you know what's the secret to having success?
01:38:28 He's like get a quarterback
01:38:30 Best coach of all time, I'm just saying like but there is a culture
01:38:35 Yeah, there's a culture, but it's also Tom Brady being the best and he sets a culture
01:38:39 So I think when people say Patriot Way outside of just the superficialness of the Super Bowl wins and Tom Brady
01:38:46 There is a language that those guys speak players and coaches
01:38:49 And this is just from from being around it so much over the years
01:38:52 I know within two seconds of talking to someone if they're New England
01:38:55 And it's not that doesn't mean because they're cold or their mean they're just a little bit more suspect at first
01:39:00 They they don't overshare. They're very detail oriented
01:39:03 They're usually really smart actually I I
01:39:08 Really like the New England way, but I prefer it actually
01:39:11 Because I see so many other sides and other guys trying to do it a different way
01:39:15 And I know outside of the Chiefs
01:39:17 I haven't really and even maybe like the McVeigh tree will call it who does it a little different, but almost similarly
01:39:22 It works yeah
01:39:24 But my counterpoint to that would be if the Patriots decided to answer all the questions and and be like
01:39:29 Gregarious with the media it wouldn't matter because they still have Tom Brady possibly yeah, that's way
01:39:34 But I'm I think it's interesting that their attack on this is to talk about how they're gonna be different
01:39:39 Just go do it
01:39:42 Yeah, just go be the team that has eased up a bit and people want to be there to get free agents to come right?
01:39:47 Yeah, that's probably smart. Yeah. No you're right
01:39:49 So so with the Patriot way who would be your number eight ranked Patriot of all time the show's coming out what Wednesday, right?
01:39:57 Wednesday that be the eighth rank so - is Friday one is no 10 10
01:40:02 Who's your 10th ranking page Hank is thanks got a list going release one an episode?
01:40:07 He's doing number 10 when this show comes out so who is your number? I'd say Teddy brisky. Oh
01:40:11 Interesting he's actually Hanks third number three. He's higher. I said he would be mad that I put him so low as well
01:40:17 Yeah, yeah
01:40:19 But throw Hank a little bit red meat here. What are the Patriots gonna do I?
01:40:22 Think the Patriots are obviously exploring the quarterback market both free agents and draft
01:40:27 I know that there's some free agents that they're interested in right now that they're having some conversations with their agents
01:40:33 So I still think they're doing the same thing with the Washington's doing kind of
01:40:36 looking at the whole landscape to figure it out, but quarterback is
01:40:39 very much what their home did on and they're also in for a
01:40:43 Stud receiver I can oh
01:40:47 Stud receiver so that could mean through the draft and bring on a veteran that that can mean two free agents
01:40:54 Mmm, I feel like you're so happy with this news. Do you have any questions?
01:40:58 He's had a rough we feel so bad for Hank
01:41:02 He has it won a Super Bowl in what like four years three years Hank literally Diana. He's had it so great
01:41:08 He didn't know how the draft worked
01:41:10 He thought that if he treated the third pick for the first pick the Patriots would keep the third pick
01:41:17 Yeah, still he was like we'll take Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison
01:41:21 I was like no if you trade the third if you trade up to the first pick you have to give up your pick
01:41:26 not theoretically
01:41:29 One of the chances they trade down I
01:41:33 Don't think very high
01:41:35 They're trying to turn this thing around
01:41:38 That's just the reports are coming out, but I feel like that's just smoke smoke. You know you listen to Elliot Wolfe yesterday talking about
01:41:45 Yeah
01:41:49 So
01:41:51 Yesterday he was talking about the type of quarterback he's looking for and uh, I actually happened to I didn't see it live
01:41:58 I I was sitting at a restaurant looking up and I was reading the captions on SportsCenter
01:42:02 And so I see what he's saying. He's like we don't want a type of court
01:42:05 You know, we're gonna look at a quarterback's body language
01:42:07 And someone was being very funny at ESPN. They just used the b-roll of Mac just like
01:42:17 Like a little editorializing but essentially was yeah, we don't want that like that's not the ideal quarterback that were that we're looking to build around
01:42:24 Yeah, okay. Well, that's good news for you. Good news for you. What's the other big store?
01:42:29 Like you can't tell us what story your big story you're working on
01:42:32 But like any big league things that you see coming that are gonna be a story
01:42:37 I think the whole the fact that the cap went up
01:42:39 It was like very buzzy when we when I landed here because that does change how a lot of teams are gonna operate
01:42:44 I don't think significantly though like immediately when I was when I thought Oh 30 million each team while we're gonna see
01:42:49 more teams go, you know swaying and free agency, but
01:42:52 I think if there's a any position that will probably see better business to be backup quarterbacks, especially after last year
01:42:59 Yeah, so many people
01:43:01 By not investing in it. That was the story of the year right? Yeah vest any backup quarterback
01:43:06 Sorry
01:43:10 You know make that effort and in means as well aware that they that they're telling Zach Wilson that he can go seek a trade
01:43:17 You know so that the time is over there, which yes, which we know so with the backup quarterbacks the Cleveland Browns
01:43:23 What are they gonna do?
01:43:24 Because they I think right now we can say unless something crazy happens and Deshaun goes off for the next couple seasons
01:43:30 Maybe the worst contract in the history of professional sports
01:43:34 Maybe up there for one of them
01:43:36 What are they do they have any?
01:43:39 Options are they just gonna have to roll with Deshaun? They still believe in Deshaun that that's there. They're in on that
01:43:44 That's ownership. They're not gonna even if Stefanski didn't want anything to do with him, which is not true
01:43:49 He wants to work with him. They they're tied to this and they're gonna try to make this work
01:43:53 So I look I think there was moments last year where like wait should the Browns sign Joe Flacco on a long-term deal?
01:43:59 Mm-hmm should he be a guy?
01:44:01 But I don't see that happening
01:44:04 Although I will say I talked to people close to Flacco and apparently he just like loved his time there
01:44:09 Like yeah, yeah was blown away by Cleveland wants to stay there
01:44:13 So I don't see a world where he winds up there again
01:44:16 But you know, is he is he gonna look for starting jobs is Flacco now like I want to be the guy
01:44:22 Yeah in Washington
01:44:24 No, no, I don't I think he knows he knows where he's at. He knows his role
01:44:28 He may wind up pulling off the same thing. He did last year. Why jump back in and do training camp?
01:44:32 Yeah, if he can just hang out wait for team starting quarterback to go down and then he can get the call and step in
01:44:38 So yeah, I'd say that
01:44:40 Obviously the salary cap thing is boring as hell, but I'm interested what the Steelers are gonna do at the quarterback position
01:44:45 You know, are they interested in going with like a Kirk cousins bringing him in?
01:44:48 Justin Fields is there's a lot of chatter about that. I I don't see that happening. I'm not saying it won't I don't see it
01:44:56 It doesn't feel Steelers, right? Does that yeah
01:44:59 He did say something like he Hines field was his favorite place to play, which is weird
01:45:03 I don't know if anyone has it as their favorite place. He didn't
01:45:07 Yeah, that's true, but yeah that that I agree with you that feels that doesn't doesn't seem yeah
01:45:14 It also feels like the Steelers were kind of be doing the same thing where it's like now we have three quarterbacks again
01:45:18 Like what are we doing? Yeah, three quarterbacks that we don't really know right?
01:45:22 So I I do think obviously it's all bears right now. It's it's unbelievable how much attention in fact
01:45:29 I talked to some people who with the Bears this morning right before I came here
01:45:31 And I was asking how they're handling just all the pressure. It feels like all the attention
01:45:37 I mean, there's reporters everywhere chasing them and
01:45:39 They they seem pretty calm. I will say my sense was just like they're optimistic and if you think about it, they're in control
01:45:47 Yeah, things are things are up. These are up for Chicago through. Oh, yeah, we have the ninth pick - yeah
01:45:53 It's gonna be so boring next year for the Bears when they don't have the number one overall pick probably well
01:45:58 What if we they're spinning all combine we feel like fuck this guy?
01:46:01 Talk to me trade the ninth pick and then we get another number one pick getting rude against another team you get you get all
01:46:08 The number one picks. Yeah, we just I love having the number one pick. All right
01:46:12 I have one last question then we're gonna have Stephen Chey ask some questions
01:46:14 This might be a dumb question
01:46:16 But since you've gone from ESPN the athletic ESPN you were obviously on air at games
01:46:22 I assume you're not at games every single week. So what does Sunday look like now? It's amazing
01:46:27 I do what you guys do I just
01:46:29 You have seven TVs and watching I don't but I do have a good setup now
01:46:34 Okay, I want so when I was at ESPN I was at one game, right?
01:46:38 My job was to be on Sunday countdown cover whatever the biggest usually was like an AFC whatever the biggest AFC game of the weekend
01:46:43 Was but now I get to watch everything. It's unbelievable. It's so fun. Like I rocks. I feel like you guys
01:46:49 Yeah, I can hear myself. This is a mate. This is what people are talking about
01:46:53 It's been almost 10 years since I was not doing football. So to be able to just sit there and consume it
01:46:59 I love your kids. Are you kids in the house when you're watching on Sunday? That is hard
01:47:03 I yeah, that is something we're trying to figure out so you can come watch in Chicago
01:47:08 We I leave it like 11 a.m. And my kids are like are you going to watch TV? And I'm like, yep
01:47:13 That's amazing
01:47:15 So we have a little bit of a deal in our house where Kev will watch the boys
01:47:22 For all the games where the Eagles aren't playing that time slot
01:47:25 So I love when the Eagles have a night game because then I get the day. Yeah, and then Philly can do their thing
01:47:30 Okay, that's a good deal
01:47:32 So it's worked out of the boys with a little jersey and they run they think it they think every football item is Eagles
01:47:38 So they'll just you know, they point to Eagles Eagles. Yeah. No, it's just Eagles. Yeah
01:47:42 Kids are dumb like that. My son thinks that every team in Chicago is the Bears. Yeah
01:47:46 It's just like we go by wriggling. He's like the Bears
01:47:49 I went back and forth with how I wanted I
01:47:51 Think about it a lot actually how I want to raise them because they don't have a choice
01:47:55 They're gonna have to be Eagles fans. My my in-laws are season ticket holders. They sit in the last row at the link like
01:48:01 Closer to the Eagles in the sky. Yeah
01:48:03 So I have no choice I married into this
01:48:07 But I don't I would really like Mikey and Joey to not be weird about it. Like really people are very
01:48:13 What do you mean? I'll go max. We'll make sure they're weird. They're gonna be painting their chest next year
01:48:20 I want to love the sport in a way that's healthy
01:48:23 That's a no I'm gonna stand up for Kevin here. That's a no it's because it's a good sports down
01:48:29 And also what's healthy is to be unhealthy about football the that's what's healthy for guys
01:48:35 My household when the Eagles win versus when they don't yeah, it's incredible. Yeah, cuz 37 years old. He's a grown man
01:48:42 Yeah, no there there's no reason you should give be giving me attitude on a Tuesday
01:48:47 Listen because the Eagles lost to Washington on Sunday. He's probably been through this
01:48:52 million times it's with every sport like
01:48:55 Wisconsin lost last night to Indiana and it ruined my night like it ruined
01:49:00 I was like I was like grumpy just like frowning and like why why can't I just not this is what we are
01:49:06 Well, if you if you lose if you're an Eagles fan, you lose on Sunday
01:49:09 Then you spend the next like three to four days dodging articles. Yeah, you just tried not to read all the bad shit
01:49:15 That's coming out. It's like oh, here's a new article. You have to pretend like you never saw it you look away
01:49:19 You're on high alert to like don't I don't want to consume any content regarding the game that happened on Sunday
01:49:25 Exactly what he does not look at his phone
01:49:27 Yeah, if I talk about if I even say like yep. Hey, I heard that I want to know I want to know he's like whatever
01:49:33 Who cares? It's just a stupid game. No, he is a well-adjusted male
01:49:37 I say that right now, but again like that's fine, but I'm passing it. I'm never changing him, right?
01:49:42 Right, but I have this opportunity. No, no, no boys. No, no, no good guy. No, no, no
01:49:48 No, Joey Joey and Michael the Mikey the nice guys finish last there. No, they're gonna be there gonna be some real shitheads
01:49:55 I know it's gonna be a lot real creative on the names
01:49:57 You can do the robot question
01:50:09 Back.com promo code take 20% off your first purchase cues this polos hoodies joggers shorts
01:50:14 Rowback go right now rowback calm pft. You have a robot. I just it wasn't the robot question
01:50:20 It was just a question, but it will be the robot question today power rank your favorite Jersey Shore bars. Oh
01:50:25 I'd go Parker house bar a the Osprey and like it's no DJ DJs
01:50:32 I don't I can't do Max is upset. I can't do DJ. Why can't you do DJs?
01:50:38 Sounds oh, yeah, so I'm new to that
01:50:41 So if you're from North Jersey, you you stop at a certain area and if you're from Philly you go to the South Jersey side
01:50:48 So I'm still pretty new to it
01:50:50 It's all the same disaster
01:50:53 The only difference is you see Jason Kelsey out right? He's everywhere. Um, but
01:50:58 Max is there a bar that you that you would say I have to go. What's the boy you got kissed in?
01:51:03 By your fire dude. Why Pryor's amazing. Okay, that's that's fair
01:51:08 White prior is what he's not no shower happy hour. This is what they do. You just go right from the beach you start drinking
01:51:15 Time. Yeah, this is stuff you did 10 like I did 10 years ago. Not now. I can't do it
01:51:21 Yeah, although I did do it last summer
01:51:22 I
01:51:23 my sister-in-law's and I we just said we were gonna go to the bathroom to the guys and
01:51:27 We went to happy hour and just didn't come back for two hours. That's cool
01:51:31 It was actually the best thing we did. It was a good move. Yeah, they didn't care
01:51:34 All right, so I don't know if you ever met our junior
01:51:38 Draft analyst Stephen Shay, he was at one point a senior draft analyst, but he's a junior draft analyst
01:51:45 So he's been demoted
01:51:46 Stephen is a football
01:51:48 Not all he thinks about is the NFL Stephen. What are your questions?
01:51:52 Well, I think we covered a lot of the NFL stuff. I do have some like I think NFL insiders are very
01:52:01 Interesting fascinating people like I'm a huge. I'm a Schefter Stan
01:52:04 Does it make you sad to say that out loud
01:52:09 Admiration or is it inspiration admiration? What is it about Adam that because I don't think a lot of people would be like man
01:52:17 Adam's amazing. He's good at his job. But no one. Yeah. No, he looks up to him as a human being as a human being
01:52:23 Yep. Yeah, do you think he's funny? Yeah, I do
01:52:27 Yeah, Adam Schefter's funny. Yeah, well, he's not like selling out like Madison Square Garden for like comedy, but I think
01:52:32 Night with Adam at MSG how much how much would you be willing to pay?
01:52:41 And this is like the full garden one man show the full Madison Square Garden
01:52:47 One night you have floor seats. Yeah, I mean Oh floor seats. Yeah a couple hundred bucks
01:52:53 That's I mean what's the going rate for that I'm probably
01:52:56 In the twos high twos high two figures. No high two digits for like main standing or like not standing
01:53:03 I don't know. This is this concert will never happen. So yeah. Okay. So what's your question? Sure
01:53:07 so we actually talked at the Jets facility right after you got the the athletic gig and
01:53:14 Something that I remember about that time and I'm sure is a struggle for people that leave the mothership
01:53:19 It's what do you do with your Twitter handle because it was Rossini ESPN. It was Diana ESPN and now it's DM
01:53:27 Yes, so what was the process like to be like, okay, I got to drop the ESPN what do I go with so it's
01:53:34 Funny you bring this up because players have asked me this Derek Henry came up to me at camp
01:53:42 I hadn't seen him like six months. He said hey, I talked to you about something. I said, what's that?
01:53:45 He said your handle you gotta change it. You don't work at ESPN anymore
01:53:48 I said it's been like three weeks like chill so I came up with DM, but I realized that after I
01:53:54 Agree to it that I was it's very inviting DM. Yeah, right
01:54:00 I didn't think this out. Yeah, DM feet pics. You're seeing it. Yeah, it's like a people everyone
01:54:07 Asking for it. Yeah, just like come get me and stuff which man some of my DMs are wild
01:54:13 But yeah, I mean it was easy to change but it was definitely a little bit of a sad moment because I'd been dying
01:54:19 He has been for so long. So yeah DM now good questions. Good question. It was really important. I
01:54:24 Noticed that so I think yes, do you want to know more about Adam I can tell you everything. Yes, I do
01:54:31 But actually that is kind of my next question is like because you are the senior insider at the Athletic you are the person there
01:54:40 there are
01:54:42 natural rivalries between
01:54:44 Newsbreakers and insiders like we have Woj and Shams obviously Schefter and rap sheet have
01:54:49 Kind of a built-in rivalry. I don't know if they personally dislike each other but like they're at competing networks
01:54:55 What is your relationship like with other?
01:54:57 insiders and if somebody
01:55:00 Beats you to a scoop. Are you just like fuck fuck Jake laser?
01:55:05 Like I hate that guy or like are you internally like, you know kicking and screaming or are you like? All right, great job
01:55:11 Oh, no, I motherfuck everybody
01:55:13 I'm competitive. So it's not personal
01:55:15 It's just damn they they thought to call that person first or man. They were working that story harder than me
01:55:21 I usually put it back on me of like what did it I do that I didn't get it
01:55:25 So living in that world is is dangerous too because then you just get down about it and it's so stupid
01:55:30 That's another thing where like I'm so lucky
01:55:33 I have a family has nothing to do with football like my dad's a plumber and my brother's a plumber
01:55:37 They don't give a shit about any of this and they they'll see me like bummed out about something like who cares
01:55:41 Yeah, but in my world it is everything
01:55:44 But my our relationship like all the insiders are actually pretty cool. Like everyone gets along
01:55:48 I wouldn't say we're like we're best friends. Like I don't want to go hang out with Ian rapport
01:55:51 I have no desire
01:55:52 But I see and I'm like what's up? And I think he's awesome
01:55:54 He's great at his job and and Adams obviously the best at what he does Adams the king
01:55:58 There's no there's there's no qualms about that. Like there's no one better than him
01:56:02 But I'm the only woman out here doing it that that's where it's been
01:56:06 that's where it's been a little different for me because I off Queen no, it's crazy I
01:56:12 Give you like like the question about like parenting and stuff
01:56:16 Like you what you do is it's insane to me. Like you deserve all the credit in the world
01:56:20 No, I really
01:56:23 Still trying to get better to you at it right because I wasn't doing it a full-time job at ESPN
01:56:27 This is full-time now
01:56:28 So the athletics been really good about there's they're just so psyched that we're doing on these kind of stories now and I actually had a
01:56:35 Conversation with an insider recently and he was like, are you nuts for writing these dysfunction pieces?
01:56:40 No one's gonna talk to you anymore, and I actually found the opposite
01:56:43 Yeah
01:56:44 I think more people are talking now because they're there's a little bit of fear and in
01:56:48 Wow, this person is digging and they know and I don't want to get up your bad side, right?
01:56:52 And I don't want to be that I don't want to be like a doom and gloom reporter
01:56:55 But I love this new role of being able to just uncover stuff that fans whether
01:57:01 You mean wants to hear it or max wants to hear about the Eagles and their dysfunction at times
01:57:05 It's it's there and it's why they're not winning. Yeah
01:57:08 Good. I just want to follow up on that because you were you were saying that now you're like writing you were reporting
01:57:14 Like basically on Twitter on TV before now you're adding in like the writing thing. It's I think it's a Mitch Hedberg joke
01:57:21 It's like going to a chef and being like, oh, you're a great chef. Can you also farm?
01:57:25 You know like two things that are tangentially
01:57:28 Related but like becoming a writer at this point in your career that seemed like a big ask
01:57:33 That was the hardest part about it when they were like, okay, so we sucks. They're like we want you to write I'm like
01:57:38 What yeah, the last time I wrote anything was just like my email password
01:57:42 Yeah, like I don't want to have to do writing and reading face. Can you should be able to face scan?
01:57:46 Yeah
01:57:47 then and just like anything else in life is like the thing that you're most fearful of is always with the most rewarding when you're
01:57:53 Able to accomplish it. So now I'm doing it all the time and I love I dread it
01:57:57 It's like a it's like a report that yeah in school
01:58:00 Yeah, it's like you dread it but there is nothing better than turning that that in right?
01:58:04 Yeah, when you when I press send to my editor
01:58:06 I'm like peace like I love it and then especially when I see it published and the New York Times or on the athletic
01:58:11 It's it's worth it. So yeah, it's it's it's definitely been hard though. Sorry last question
01:58:15 You obviously go and visit with a lot of teams and stuff like that today
01:58:19 The grades came out from I think it's the NFL PA with like grading the different
01:58:23 franchises in order of
01:58:27 Several different factors. I don't need to bash anyone
01:58:30 But who are your favorite teams to visit visit and are the most accommodating have the nicest facilities, etc
01:58:36 I think asking a media person is is difficult because we're gonna base it on access
01:58:41 right, like the PR staffs and
01:58:47 Thing does annoy me look when they're like you the Super Bowl's food terrible
01:58:51 Yeah, I'd be so sad. I was like, come on the the Super Bowl in Tampa the Kovac year. Oh amazing
01:58:58 Oh, so good. Steve is a box fan. So I would say the the stadium outside of Dallas
01:59:04 So Dallas Jerry obviously does a top-notch
01:59:07 Outside Dallas the team that does it the best in terms of the kind of food
01:59:11 I like is New England because they do pasta they do lobster roll
01:59:15 They lean into who they are right?
01:59:17 There's some Italians some seafood and they take care of their media because they probably knew that they were to have the media's gonna have
01:59:22 To deal with grumpiness. Yeah, like let's feed these. Yeah, yeah these guys it's smart
01:59:26 But in in terms of just dealing with different organizations, it's all over the spectrum
01:59:31 You deal with some teams and they just make your job so hard
01:59:35 They and then you deal with people like the Chiefs who have every reason in the world to be arrogant and they're not they're great
01:59:40 Like Patrick Mahomes do well is really open to doing stuff
01:59:43 So so that's helpful, but then you'll go to some teams that are not good at all and it's such a pain to deal with
01:59:50 but in terms of facilities
01:59:53 The Jets actually have a beautiful facility. I like going and they feed you. That's another thing - they feed you at lunch
02:00:00 I'm I think I'm a little bit more like you than I thought. Yeah, if you feed
02:00:03 Yeah, if you put on a good spread, uh, like nothing else really matters. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Good question, Steven
02:00:10 Diana thank you. Like I said, it was long overdue and now that you're a current guest
02:00:15 We'll definitely have you back on in the football season. Good luck with the podcast. What's the name of it? Scoop City?
02:00:21 Like scoop shitty. Oh, is that are you scared? No, it is that I'm just trying to jack back. I actually
02:00:28 I was we got a guy who is actually a very good reporter and he is he says Scoop City, so
02:00:38 Well, I wanted to reveal on the show my first guess I thought it'd be like a really is a jack Mack. No, it's Max
02:00:43 All the listeners at the Atlantic like what who is this? Yeah. Yeah, it's just max
02:00:50 We're just gonna we're just gonna put the Mac the microphone next to his butt and just fart
02:00:53 Two sodas we gave him $600
02:00:59 Diana Rossini was brought to you by pardon my cheesesteak big news from part of my cheesesteak in

02:02:15 By the way, speaking of steaks breaking news
02:02:19 Moves
02:02:25 The one baseball player who's to who keeps us all connected who is that?
02:02:31 Schwartz or bow the the MLB did one of those tick-tock videos and they asked every single player or
02:02:37 On the video obviously was like probably 35 players
02:02:40 How they like their steak cooked?
02:02:43 cow short bur medium rare plus
02:02:46 Okay, that's love it. Do it warmer and we love cows warmer. We do love cows. We love cows war bur
02:02:52 We should do that. We should do that as a special. Yeah medium rare plus what what's special like a part of my cheesesteak special
02:03:00 So she steak will be medium rare plus we did order
02:03:03 Steaks in Indianapolis the medium rare was the exact same as me. No. Yes. Yes, it was. No, it wasn't
02:03:10 That's not true
02:03:12 Hank pardon your take
02:03:14 I
02:03:18 Think Boston is going to become the new tortured city. Oh
02:03:22 The Pat's are gonna be weighed down by their terrible owner
02:03:26 The Celtics have had recent success in the regular season, but always will get face fucked by the heat
02:03:31 The Bruins are aging fast and don't really have a strong chance of winning the Cup. What are your thoughts on that one?
02:03:37 That one's valid
02:03:39 although they're they're
02:03:41 Really good this season. So maybe not. Yeah, I just the Bruins that I know aren't on the team anymore
02:03:46 Yeah, I'm again. I get familiar with aging fast pasta, Julia
02:03:49 The Red Sox ownership paid their fans and are much more interested in selling the Fenway Park experience and playing good baseball
02:03:56 That's a fact Red Sox owners suck. This totally could come back to bite me in the ass
02:04:00 But I think the whole city is about to become the new Dallas Cowboys Wow
02:04:02 The whole city will say become the cow. I mean you can't torture a city like I've won
02:04:09 I think 10 plus championships since I was nine years old like you can't torture
02:04:13 That's not torture if we don't win a championship for a few years the Celtics are
02:04:17 The favorites to win the championship this year. The Bruins are in the top five. I believe in standings in their division
02:04:24 Patriots new coach
02:04:26 They're gonna be really good top three draft pick really I don't that doesn't sound torture to me
02:04:30 You think it's gonna be really good. It will happen at some point
02:04:33 Yeah, I ship the next four years where everything goes on is there a chance it's going down right now
02:04:39 No, okay. The the Celtics are like the most Celtics part doesn't that I've watched since you know the big three
02:04:46 Yeah, I love watching the Celtics. They're fun to watch. It's gonna be an exciting postseason
02:04:50 Bruins I hop on once we get into the play X has a has a he's got a crinkle in his face
02:04:55 Do you ever Hank do you ever feel like the best years of your sports life are behind you though?
02:04:59 I think that is a fact. There's no way that that's a fact
02:05:02 I'm okay with that like the best sports years of my life or when I was like
02:05:05 16 to 25 and they were the most fun years of my life
02:05:08 I'm never gonna I can't replicate that even if even I would rather have had the best years of my life be at the age
02:05:14 That they were then when I'm 30 in Chicago, you know, no, you're right that right
02:05:19 I got I had the prime the prime years were
02:05:21 My prime years as well and if the Celtics win a chip this year then that like extends that window
02:05:26 And yeah, three to five years. You're like, oh we just recently won another one. Yeah, well, you're gonna say max
02:05:31 You can you say that they can't be tortured
02:05:34 Would you say the current Cowboys fans are a tortured fan base? Yes. The answer is yes. Yes
02:05:40 That's a long time right enough, yes, but that's what this person is saying that it's trick then it would trend
02:05:47 You will buy a time of 40 years old will be tortured. Yeah next thing, you know, your quarterback 30
02:05:52 Shaving his head like right, but the Cowboys are tortured because they won when was last time they won 95 96
02:05:57 Yeah, so but you would have said 40 like you're like when I'm 80 years old and dying
02:06:02 I'm a tortured if you don't win another championship in the next 20 years, you would you would be tortured
02:06:07 Yeah, but I don't like I'll be I'll be old by then. Okay? Yeah, you will be yeah being a tortured fantasy is
02:06:15 People get mad at that that's a young man's game. I'd like I
02:06:18 Don't know. There's probably some old. Yeah, but if they've never that's who are like this socks
02:06:23 They've never they've never won because like Hank is Hank has experienced being a fan in the same years as like his potential athletic prime
02:06:30 So now he's like looking at he's like, yeah, I got a guy to retire
02:06:34 Yeah, I had a great run now I get to watch the other teams do it. Yeah
02:06:38 All right. Next one. Oh wait. Also, why can't you be a fan when you're older? No, I'm saying
02:06:44 Right, but that's not looking at it that way. Hank's like I'm retiring from being a sports fan. I
02:06:48 Would like to thank the city of Boston
02:06:52 I also think that there's there's like when you're older it might mean just like it gets
02:06:57 You know if you have kids and you and you're you know
02:06:59 30s and 40s you got other shit your career going like you maybe not paying as much attention
02:07:03 But like when you're 50 60 and you got nothing going on your teams probably mean a lot
02:07:08 That's what like my dad looks forward to right is like going home and watching Villanova game, right?
02:07:13 The Phillies game that's off if I have kids. I mean that's tough. You just described his stuff
02:07:19 What seeing two national champion? Oh, but this year I'm talking about this year
02:07:22 Well, I mean we're playing good ball right? Okay. Yeah and future on them Phillies haven't really upgrade but it's fine
02:07:28 Okay, if I have kids and and and then the teams go through hardships, maybe by that point
02:07:34 Yeah, it will be torture. But yeah, but this is kind of like the last dance for you Hank
02:07:38 It's not you can't
02:07:42 One final chance at a chip Jason Tatum is 26. He's 18. Okay, it's 19, but
02:07:48 Sup, King cat pft. It's
02:07:51 Golfboy, mr. Positions and double soda Don was pf tits me
02:07:56 I don't know Dan Hurley drinking what looks like piss before every game had me thinking
02:08:01 Would you guys drink your own piss before every game of the season if it meant your team would go 17 and oh and wins?
02:08:06 Yes. Yes. Are you kidding me? It's the easiest question ever. Definitely
02:08:10 Jake you would drink piss you would not all say that's a lie. Oh, no if I was the coach of that team
02:08:16 Oh, no, we're talking about his fans fans. Yeah
02:08:18 The question might have been like if you were a coach, but we'll just say yeah. No his fans. I would do it easy
02:08:24 I would do I drink piss every fucking Sunday just to have the Bears be in the playoffs
02:08:29 Don't even guarantee me anything
02:08:30 But yeah, like you guaranteed the playoffs that would be piss every Sunday no matter what wake up mouthwash piss I agree
02:08:37 I would do it actually every day. Yeah, not even every Sunday
02:08:40 You should just do it next year, you know, yeah, maybe we will
02:08:44 Tell me I won't max. Yeah, I think guys are all talk
02:08:49 Yeah, maybe we will I drink Max's piss for a Super Bowl
02:08:55 That's too far. His toilet can't even do that. Yeah, sure. I eat so much asparagus
02:09:00 All right
02:09:02 Hey fellows, I'd like to draw your attention to one of the biggest conspiracies in modern college athletics
02:09:07 Did you know that the one and two seed in WCC tournament automatically start in the semifinal and get three buys?
02:09:12 Yeah, this means that basically every year all Gonzaga has to do to guarantee tournament berth is win two games
02:09:17 Well, no, that's not all they have to do even with this ridiculous format Gonzaga has still failed to ever make a single Final Four
02:09:24 It's truly shocking. Love it, but they would have to get that by yeah, right
02:09:27 Saying like oh well the Gonzaga only has to win two games
02:09:32 They have to win all the games in the regular season to get the one in the two seed max pulled up the visual
02:09:37 It's a great-looking guy. Yeah. No it is. It's a greater. I like how they do it
02:09:40 It makes the regular season mean a lot more. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's not a conspiracy
02:09:44 It is kind of crazy, but it's not a conspiracy looking at the bracket makes me think it's more of a conspiracy because that is
02:09:50 A shocking bracket. Well, it's just you got to play well in the regular season. Yeah
02:09:54 And they only have nine teams
02:09:57 Okay next our last one I'm so fucking sick of Sean Payton getting away with being a bad head coach
02:10:03 Oh name another coach
02:10:05 So throwing his team under the bus
02:10:07 Wasting the rest seasons and being so bad that nobody wanted to buy his contract
02:10:10 So he had to go on TV for a few seasons
02:10:12 He gets away was too much for winning only one Super Bowl with breeze as quarterback
02:10:16 Bill Belichick gets crushed for being a far superior coach, but Sean is the same guy with much worse accolades
02:10:22 This written by Hank. What does Sean Payton know? This is written by Roger Goodell
02:10:26 I think I actually kind of agree with this take I kind of agree with this take I'll say this about Sean Payton
02:10:31 He's too miserable all the time compared to what he's done
02:10:36 I like you you have to earn the right to be that ornery all the time and that pissed off at your own players
02:10:40 Yeah, I don't like the way that he treated Russell last year who by the way was not very good
02:10:45 I'm not like gonna stand on the table for us at Wilson
02:10:47 But like everything was Wilson's problem last year, right?
02:10:51 Even when it wasn't like that game against the Lions on Thanksgiving when he was like, yeah
02:10:56 It's your fault that this happened and turned out that it wasn't at all
02:10:58 Yeah, he needs to he needs to tone down the the pissed offness like a couple notches until he gets the playoffs again
02:11:04 It's also a great lesson that if you can win a Super Bowl with a franchise that everyone
02:11:09 Assumed was never gonna win a Super Bowl
02:11:11 You do get way more grace than if you win a Super Bowl with you know
02:11:15 The Cowboys or the Steelers or the Packers like that that's a fact
02:11:19 Yeah, but also Mike McCarthy and Mike Tomlin have a Super Bowl and they're talked about completely different than Sean Payton because Sean Payton
02:11:25 Won it with the Saints
02:11:26 I think Sean Payton could have been that pissed off and and and like throwing his team under the bus if he'd stayed in New
02:11:32 Orleans, yeah, but now they's in Denver. I think yet now now it might turn on him
02:11:36 Yeah, if he doesn't if he doesn't get it, right, it will turn on him. Yeah also Hank
02:11:39 I just remembered you said that the Red Sox ownership doesn't care about the fans at all. Are you excited all about Theo?
02:11:45 Theo's back
02:11:48 Did you know that Theo was back? No. Yeah, Theo's back. Yes. I mean they haven't signed anyone. They don't do anything
02:11:53 Well, he's not back. He's he's like with the ownership group
02:11:57 So he's not like the Red Sox GM the ownership group does not care about but he will I think they care about golf
02:12:03 They care about soccer. They care about NASCAR NASCAR. They care about everything but the Red Sox. Yeah, I think
02:12:09 Fenway group they started with the Red Sox and now they're on to bigger better things and
02:12:13 They know that the they'll sell out. They'll still get a lot of money, you know for people coming to games, even though they suck
02:12:19 So why bother? Yeah, it's a shame. It's tough
02:12:23 Okay, good show boys great interview coming on Friday with Pat Bev. Yeah, awesome. Awesome interview
02:12:30 in person
