00:00 I'm JD Durkin reporting from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and here's what
00:03 we're watching on the street today.
00:05 Stocks gained steam after Fed Chair Jerome Powell indicated that while inflation is currently
00:10 too high to lower interest rates, investors could expect rate cuts later this year.
00:15 Separately, Wall Street is also looking ahead to the February jobs report out Friday morning.
00:20 The U.S. economy is expected to have added 198,000 jobs in the month of February, with
00:26 the unemployment rate holding steady at 3.7 percent.
00:30 In other news, the TSA is enlisting some new help in an effort to speed up security lines.
00:36 You.
00:37 The agency has begun testing a self-screening technology in hopes that it will be quicker
00:41 and even safer for passengers.
00:43 The new tech will initially be used in Las Vegas' Harry Reid International Airport.
00:48 The new features include a virtual agent, automated conveyor belt for luggage, and a
00:52 more sensitive detection system.
00:55 TSA agents will be available for those who need help, but the automated system will allow
00:59 fewer agents to be present, and they can monitor X-ray machines remotely.
01:04 The TSA head David Pekoske said, "The bottom line is all the technology we've put in place
01:10 is much better for security, it's more efficient for passengers, and it's a better passenger
01:15 experience."
01:17 The TSA has already screened 143 million passengers so far in 2024, a 6 percent jump from the
01:23 same time last year.
