Andy' Spring Reaction After First Day

00:00 Bobby Petrino finally gets to hold a practice at a facility that he actually dreamed and designed,
00:07 or at least he designed most of it. Spring practice gets underway for the Razorbacks this morning,
00:13 about 8 30 at the indoor football center that Bobby Petrino created. They basically started
00:22 by digging a big hole over there off Razorback Road right beside Barnhill Arena and Bobby Petrino
00:30 never was still around by the time it got built. Well, now he's back as the offensive coordinator,
00:37 already making having an effect on the field, at least according to the players. We talked with
00:42 Brad Spence, defensive lineman Landon Jackson, and wide receiver Andrew Armstrong after practice
00:50 today. They will continue tomorrow with another morning practice. Then they've got a practice on
00:58 Saturday and there will be a spring break after that. Now the fans will have access to some
01:06 practices, but not this Saturday. Those practices will be open to the public. Some of the Saturday
01:14 practices, I believe Sam Pittman told us the other day, three, but everybody's excited right now.
01:21 Everything looks great. It's spring practice. We don't know how good they're practicing against
01:28 on both sides of the ball with a new offensive coordinator that a lot of hopes because people
01:33 around here remember the good days when Petrino had a teams in 2010 and 2011 that I believe went
01:42 21 and five. They didn't lose to very many good teams. I mean, bad teams, the only games they lost
01:50 caused them to end up the third ranked team in the SEC West, both of those years, despite having
01:57 those good records. Anyway, that's all ancient history now. Now we move on and we've got spring
02:04 football and everybody's excited. But one thing is clear. This team is moving at a faster pace
02:11 everywhere. A lot of that is the Bobby Petrino effect. And a lot of it is the Sam Pittman effect
02:21 from taking what Petrino has told him about. And Pittman is ready to try just about anything short
02:28 of cartwheeling down Razorback road right now to get wins. He needs them after a four and eight
02:35 season. Anyway, that's the biggest key and the biggest takeaway. It's only the first day. We
02:41 don't know. We saw Taylon Green in a Razorback uniform for the first time today, as well as
02:47 incoming freshman KJ Jackson, who is a big young man. That's the best way to describe him. Jacobi
02:54 Criswell, Austin Ledbetter were also on the quarterbacks along with Malachi Singleton.
03:01 And nothing stands out. Nothing stands out on the first day. The receivers and quarterbacks
03:07 obviously have talked. There were several drops from the receivers today, but that's again,
03:14 it's the first day of practice. They're indoors. They're practicing against themselves at this
03:21 point, practicing against air. So don't expect a whole lot from it. We'll have more as it continues
03:29 on all hogs, as well as coverage. Busy schedule at five o'clock this afternoon, the Razorback
03:36 women will be in South Carolina for their first appearance in the SEC tournament.
03:42 They will probably be playing in the post-season at one of these tournaments in the alphabet soup,
03:48 not the NCAA tournament, but one of the lower tournaments beyond that. I can't even remember
03:54 the names of it, the NIT and there's something CBI or something like that, that they have for
04:01 the women now. And who knows if they will host a game or not. Baseball plays a series against
04:09 McNeese State starting on Friday at six at three o'clock. Get the dates and the times here.
04:16 And it will be the final non-conference weekend series before they start playing big boy
04:24 baseball against the other Southeastern conference teams. That'll get underway the next weekend.
04:30 Then we'll start finding out a little bit more about this baseball team. Basketball finishes
04:36 up the regular season Saturday at Alabama. Then they go the SEC tournament. There probably won't
04:43 be much after the SEC tournament. I doubt they'll even make one of the lower
04:49 little roundup tournaments that they put together basically to give everybody a chance
04:55 to keep playing basketball a couple of weeks longer and put some money in the people's pockets
05:01 that really don't need it. Anyway, we'll have it all for you here at All Hogs. Razorbacks will be
05:08 back on the spring practice field tomorrow. We'll see if it's outdoors or indoors. A lot of bad
05:14 weather being predicted in Northwest Arkansas this weekend, but we'll see. We'll have it all
