We asked people what do you think of the redevelopment work done so far on Fargate
Transcript
00:00 Tell me what you think about how Fargate's starting to look, where it's been on bale so far.
00:05 It's improving. It's improving from what it has been in the past, but slowly.
00:13 I'm not sure how much it's costing, but I believe it's gone over budget, and that's another concern to me, of how much is it going to cost?
00:25 Tell me what you think of the work that's being done here on Fargate. Do you think it looks good?
00:30 When the work's completed, I think Fargate will look a lot better than what it used to be over the years, because it's been a real nightmare down here.
00:38 A real nightmare. The containers were a nightmare. We wasted a lot of money on that, but now, with this work that's going on, I think the process and the outcome is going to be a lot better than what it's going to be.
00:49 Do you like what's happening up there? I like what's happening up there. It's a lot better. A way lot better. It's more respectable, more friendly for kids, more friendly for people, for the elderly. It's a lot more better.
01:01 What do you think about the way Fargate is beginning to look now that they've effectively completed the corner of it?
01:06 We don't come to Sheffield very often. I live in Barnsley, so obviously when we visit, it's quite disruptive. My little girl does love looking at the construction work going on there, so that's a big bonus for us.
01:20 I know a lot of people were talking about the old tram lines and how it's sad that we've not been able to preserve those in some way, which I think is true, but obviously I don't know too much about the development process.
01:34 I think it does look a little bit messy at the moment, but I'm hoping that it will be good for the city overall when it has been finished.
01:43 Can you tell me please what you think about what they're doing here on Fargate in terms of the redevelopment so far?
01:49 As far as I know, it's a complete mess. The porter cabins, I think one's been taken down, but that was a complete farce.
01:58 I read in the papers that I believe there was no water supply or electric supply to them, so there wasn't enough research put into it. And what's happening here, I have no idea. It's just a total mess.
02:13 Do you like what you see here in terms of the barlards and the way the tree's there?
02:19 Yes, it's all right, but I don't know what's actually happening. Are they just re-coppering the whole thing? I just don't know. We don't know.
02:29 I get this Sheffield paper every Thursday and there's not much in there about it. And it's dreadful that the big shop at the top there is closed. That was an absolute travesty.
02:42 But I see they're thinking of making them into houses, which would be a good idea. It's got to be used.
02:49 Could you tell me what you think about Fargate, the way it's starting to look so far?
02:54 It's nice and spacious. I like that there's lots more room to walk around. It's definitely more accessible now.
03:02 Could you tell me what you think, please, of how Fargate is starting to look now, because they've got some of the work revealed effectively, haven't they?
03:10 It's looking a lot smarter and a lot better than what it did before. I used to come down here quite a lot before, but in my case, it's looking a lot smarter and better. I'm pleased with it.
