The family of a missing man have made a desperate plea for answers after their beloved son and brother vanished. Marc Mietus hasn't been seen since January 2000 near Bundaberg. Today police announced a $500,000 reward for information.

00:43 On the 6th of January 2000, the Melbourne man left home for a new life in Queensland.
00:49 He picked up a hitchhiker at Gilgandra in country New South Wales.

01:01 Over a fortnight, he travelled to Brisbane and back and stopped at a Gympie petrol station on the Bruce Highway.
01:07 "A witness records a person seating in the passenger seat of the ute who did not exit the vehicle."
01:12 "This person is described at about 30 years of age with shoulder length, long dark hair."
01:18 Police want any witnesses to come forward.
01:21 "We're appealing for any person who may recall seeing Mark at the Buyal Roadhouse on 26 January 2000."
01:28 "Any person who observed or knows anyone in the Buyal Childers area in 2000 or who owns or drove a brown XD Ford sedan with a dull alloy bull bar and standard wheels to contact police."
01:40 Police are now re-interviewing witnesses and persons of interest.
