The origins of Holi can be traced back to ancient Hindu mythology, particularly the legend of Holika and Prahlad. According to the legend, Holika, the sister of demon king Hiranyakashipu, tried to kill Prahlad, a devout follower of Lord Vishnu, by sitting with him in a pyre.
