00:02 City of Newcastle has continued its award-winning rehabilitation of Ironbark Creek
00:07 to utilize natural channel design to improve water quality,
00:11 reduce erosion, re-establish habitat and protect public and private property.
00:16 The first part of Stage 5 works is now complete,
00:20 which will help make the creek flow more predictably during storms and floods.
00:24 150 metres of creek has been re-naturalized and over 9,000 native plants have been put in the ground.
00:31 These works occurred on a portion of the creek in the Walls End area, near the Barney Street footbridge.
00:37 This project has been delivered in partnership with NSW Local Land Services.
