A resident of Arlington House in Margate describes the issues with windows
Transcript
00:00 Yes, absolutely. It's about time.
00:02 The building was put up or opened in the early 60s
00:07 and nothing's been changed since then for the windows.
00:10 They'd have to have such thick frames to alter the look of the building.
00:15 I don't think it would matter that the windows are like panoramic windows above us.
00:21 You wouldn't notice a slightly thicker frame.
00:25 The issues that have been, the same issues since I moved in,
00:28 as you can see, the disrepair of them.
00:31 These ones I've actually repaired myself in the past two or three times.
00:36 But they're in disrepair.
00:38 These are slightly different to the windows in the rest of the block.
00:41 The rest of the block windows are aluminium framed
00:43 and they slide on small plastic wheels
00:48 that over the years have just gone flat on different sides
00:51 so people have to drag them open and closed.
00:54 None of them fit properly. They're all drafty.
00:58 The wind howls through them.
01:00 When the wind howls outside, it howls inside as well.
01:04 They're just terrible, terrible.
01:06 They rattle, shake.
01:08 There's many, many windows in the block that have had seagull strikes
01:13 and they're cracked.
01:15 And in the summer, the heat distorts the frames and cracks the glass
01:21 but they won't come and replace the glass.
