A woman got a QR code tattoo on her arm – which plays Rick Ashley’s Never Gonna Give You Up on repeat.
Sailor Jupiter, 25, wanted to “top” her friends by getting the ultimate 'Rickroll' - a permanent inking on her right arm which when scanned leads to the 1987 hit.
Rickrolling is an internet meme involving the unexpected appearance of the music video for the song.
It involves a disguised link which leads to the music video, and when victims click on it, the music video loads and they have been 'Rickrolled'.
Sailor, a content creator, from Las Vegas, Nevada, US, said: “My QR code is my top favourite.
“It gets asked about the most.
“In my friendship group we’d Rickroll each other. I wanted to top everyone.
“Random people ask if they can scan my arm.
“I get DJs to scan my arm in the club.
“Everybody is obsessed with it.”
Sailor got her first tattoo aged 18 and was “instantly hooked” – getting the molecule for serotine and E = mc² as some of her first tats.
Now she has 97 inking's on her body including Freddie Mercury and a face tattoo of an olive branch and spider.
She decided to get her QR tattoo in June 2022 to one up her friends on the Rickroll joke.
The tattoo had to be precise for it to work when scanned so took four hours and cost Sailor $250.
She said: “It’s so random.
“Most of the time somebody walking by goes ‘wow that’s so cool can I scan it?’
“Then they burst out laughing when it plays.
“It has to be exactly precise.
“No QR code lasts forever.
“QR code sometimes change. Sometimes they don’t exist anymore.
“So far this one still works.”
Sailor believes her inkings are a “timeline” of her life – such as a flower tattoo covering a scar on her chest following an emergency surgery to remove cysts.
She said: "I got a face tattoo after I met a girl at Starbucks with one and thought 'wow that is beautiful'.
"I thought f**k it I’m going to do it.
"I absolutely love it."
Sailor says she gets called "abnormal" for inking herself in tattoos.
She said: "I’ve been told it’s not normal to have tattoos.
"Who wants to be normal?
"Normal is boring.
"I’m going to have fun with life.
"I don’t want to live my life with any regrets."
