00:00 You know what's exciting?
00:04 Finally getting to see the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus on our roads.
00:08 This is the all-new third generation of the midsize luxury SUV and it's aimed directly
00:14 at the Lexus RX and Cadillac XT5.
00:17 After driving it last week, here's what we think.
00:25 You get two engine options with the new Nautilus.
00:27 The first is the standard engine, a 2-liter turbo with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet
00:33 of torque.
00:34 Power comes on gradually, but it's totally enough for city and highway driving.
00:39 The car is agile and responses become heavier and more accurate in excite mode.
00:44 The second and optional engine is a 2-liter turbo hybrid with 310 combined horsepower
00:50 and 295 pound-feet of torque.
00:54 By the way, this is the first time a hybrid engine has ever been offered on the Nautilus.
00:59 The extra power here comes on faster and more furiously, but remains tastefully refined,
01:05 which is of course a hallmark of the Lincoln brand.
01:08 Steering on the hybrid was a little on the numb side, however.
01:12 But the biggest thing we took issue with?
01:14 The braking, and this applied to both engines.
01:18 When you press down, there's a bit of dead pedal travel and then a harsh bite.
01:22 It's more noticeable on the hybrid because of its regenerative braking, so a smooth stop
01:26 was difficult to achieve.
01:28 Overall, though, the new Nautilus impressed us with its comfortable ride, especially in
01:33 black label models with the adaptive suspension.
01:36 To be sure, this isn't a sporty SUV.
01:39 But it still performed surprisingly well on twisty roads with virtually no head toss or
01:44 body roll.
01:46 You get all of that plus a super plush interior cabin.
01:49 We'll see what people think of that giant wraparound screen, though.
01:53 Prices for the new Nautilus range between about $52,000 and more than $82,000, depending
01:58 on trim and options.
02:00 So what do you think?
02:02 Would you pay this and still feel like it was worth treating yourself?
