North Carolina Earns Number One Seed in West Region

00:20 Many thought it would be Iowa State
00:22 after victoriously running through
00:24 the Big 12 tournament title.
00:25 Instead, it is UNC.
00:27 A slight story of redemption for one of the bluebloods
00:30 in this sport.
00:31 The Tar Heels last year ranked number one
00:34 in the preseason AP poll after winning
00:37 or getting to the national championship game a year prior.
00:40 They were the first team in the AP poll history
00:43 to be ranked first as the year got underway
00:46 to not reach the big dance.
00:48 Now, J.Y. won next to their name once again
00:51 as the one seed in the West region.
00:53 - Yes, it is a great redemption for them.
00:55 And I think, you know, we'll talk about
00:57 another team in that region coming up in a little bit.
00:59 But to me, with North Carolina folks,

01:04 I think the Caleb Love effect, he had to go.
01:07 I think it made R.J. Davis become the guard
01:10 that they think he was capable of becoming.
01:12 And Armando Baycock, but for the third straight year,
01:15 Hubert Davis went into the portal
01:17 and he went and got an experience,
01:19 this time, of more of a three.
01:21 If you think about two years ago, it was Brady Manick.
01:24 If you think about last year, it was a transfer,
01:25 Petey Nance, out of Northwestern.
01:27 And this year, Cormac Ryan.
01:29 Now, to me, if North Carolina folks is gonna make a run
01:32 and get to a Final Four, I know Baycock's gonna be Baycock.
01:36 I know R.J.'s gonna do what he's gotta do.
01:38 To me, it's Harrison Ingram and it's Cormac Ryan.
01:41 If you watch, especially that game against Duke
01:43 last Saturday night, the way that Cormac was able
01:47 to shoot the ball to the floor,
01:49 but also, Harrison Ingram, has a stretch for it
01:51 and the ability to beat slower bigs off the bounce.
01:55 Those two, to me, hold the keys to what,
01:58 if North Carolina can make a run to the Final Four.
