Its lifted suspension and ruggedized styling indicate that the 2024 A4 Avant is not like Audi's other cars. All models come with a turbocharged four-cylinder and all-wheel drive. The Avant's on-road driving manners are also refined and cornering attitude is lively, especially considering the car's extra ground clearance. Practicality is key in a station wagon, and the A4 Avant can haul more than the regular A4 sedan.
The A4 Avant will get a variety of standard driver assistance features for 2024, including adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. A heated steering wheel and smartphone-enabled remote start function are also now standard. The Navigation package, optional on the Premium Plus trim and available on the Prestige model, now includes traffic sign recognition and a more advanced predictive adaptive cruise control system.
There's only one powertrain for the A4 Avant, but it's a good one: a bolder, 261-hp version of the regular A4's turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and it now comes with a 12-volt hybrid system. A seven-speed automatic transmission and the latest version of Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system are standard.
The A4 Avant has an attractive, serious interior. The cabin is extremely functional, beautiful, well appointed and comfortable. Although its outer length is much shorter than many of its competitors, the Avant's rear seat has almost as much leg room as the V90. Befitting a luxury vehicle, the Allroad comes standard with leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, panoramic sunroof and three-zone automatic climate control.
The crown jewel of Audi's MMI infotainment system is the optional Virtual Cockpit, a high-resolution, configurable display located where the instrument cluster would normally be. It can be arranged to show a digital version of the traditional cluster layout or a more infotainment-focused display that can include real-time Google Maps overlays of surrounding environments. The 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen is centered at the top of the dashboard and features Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
