Bongalon had this to say in a press conference Wednesday, March 20 as he commented on the controversial remarks that Chong made about First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos last week.

00:00 It pains me because the one who made this statement publicly is a lawyer.
00:09 One who is in the same profession and it reflects not the legal profession.
00:17 So having said that, there are calls to investigate and file a case for possible disembarkment case.
00:27 And for me personally, there is enough ground.
00:30 Because as a lawyer in a legal profession, we have this code of professional responsibility and accountability or CIPRA.
00:38 It states basically that we have duties not just to our clients, not just to the courts, but to the society in general.
00:47 Her statement against First Lady Marcos is a reflection that is something that is disrespectful.
00:57 Not because the utterances were made against the First Lady, but this attitude reflects towards the women in general.
01:07 And that is why this matter should be investigated with the proper authorities such as the Integrated Bar of the Philippines as well as the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
01:18 So that we will uphold accountability and uphold the integrity of the legal profession.
01:25 Thank you.
