Detective Inspector Bryony Midgley, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “My thoughts today are with all of Jack’s family and loved ones. He was a kind and generous man who was obviously very dearly loved and whose life was needlesslysnatched away as a result of the senseless and violent actions of Parkinson and Fairclough."
Today they were jailed for a combined 14 years for the senseless attack on trainee barrister Jack Jermy-Doyle, 25.

00:00 I'm Detective Inspector Bryony Mitchley from Lancashire Police Major Investigation Team.
00:04 On the 12th of August 2022, not too far from this very location, a young man by the name of Jack
00:12 Jeremy Doyle was out on a night out with his friends. He was a man full of potential and love
00:17 for his family. He was having a good friendly night out and he'd text his girlfriend to say
00:23 that he loved her and he was enjoying himself. Meanwhile in another part of town, Jake Parkinson
00:29 and Jack Fairclough were having a very different night out which involved a number of skirmishes,
00:35 assaults and violence in pretty much every venue they attended as well as on the street and amongst
00:40 their own group as well as in the streets. Unfortunately when both parties were making
00:46 their way to leave town, they came across one another. There'd been no previous knowledge of
00:51 each other before but Mr Parkinson and Mr Fairclough, for whatever reason, felt they
00:57 needed to approach Mr Jeremy Doyle and assault him. Mr Parkinson punched him in the ribs and Mr
01:04 Fairclough punched him to the face which caused him to fall down and receive a fatal brain injury.
01:10 He fell unconscious and never gained consciousness again. There was no need for that. That 10 seconds
01:18 of violence has changed so many lives and ended his. So if you're on a night out in drink, I'd
01:25 just like you to think of Jack. There's no need to fight. If you feel that you're angry or cross
01:32 with a situation or somebody's not wearing what you like or dancing in the street, just turn away
01:38 and walk away. There's no need for violence because this is how it can end.
