00:02 Representatives of the Dodgers,
00:06 Shoya Ohtani accused his interpreter
00:08 of engaging in a massive theft of his funds,
00:13 allegedly $4.5 million to place bets
00:17 with an allegedly illegal bookmaker
00:19 who was the target of a federal investigation.
00:21 Lawyers for Ohtani made the claim
00:25 after the LA Times learned that Ohtani's name
00:27 had surfaced in the investigation of Matthew Boyer,
00:31 an Orange County resident who is allegedly a bookie.
00:36 Ohtani's representatives looked into the actions
00:38 of his interpreter and discovered
00:41 that $4.5 million was missing.
00:45 Yet there's conflicting stories
00:47 as his interpreter admitted and said
00:52 that Ohtani gave him the money.
00:55 And it seems to be that there's a paper trail
00:59 of Ohtani paying off this guy's gambling debts.
