00:00 staying up here was definitely the best option and that was only being able to work and get a
00:04 qualification at the same time. I'm Emma, I'm a business apprentice currently working at Doonray
00:09 up in the very north of Scotland. Caithness is a really small community so everyone knows each
00:13 other, everyone gets along with everyone. It's a really friendly place to live. I feel like it's
00:18 a great place for families up here and definitely for bringing young ones up. Because I'm an
00:23 apprentice I go through placements so I do three six-month placements with different departments.
00:29 So right now I'm with communications. You get to see an insight to everything really.
00:33 We are right on the north coast so there's loads of water and beaches. It gives people the
00:40 opportunity to be able to do surfing, kayaking. Quite often go out and do things with friends as
00:46 well like going out for a coffee, going out for lunch. There's nice places up in Thurso,
00:51 Park Hotel and then there's a tapas restaurant. My favourite place in Caithness would probably be
00:56 John O'Groats. There's a few nice walks to do as well. You can kind of walk along the beach,
01:00 go to the gym sometimes as well. I feel like it helps to kind of clear my head a bit after work.
01:05 The next step for me would probably, after my apprenticeship, just stay at Doonray for a good
01:10 few years yet to kind of find my feet a wee bit more. If I did ever want to make a change from
01:16 Doonray there is always other options.
