00:07:35 Here we are, Calgary Nationals. You and I have been doing the Western Tour all year long,
00:07:40 and you've got lots more skating events to come.
00:07:43 So, let's talk about, you know kids are on your blades, your boots, you're watching them compete.
00:07:49 What does that feel like?
00:07:51 It's pretty awesome to be able to see these skaters performing the best in all this fun stuff that we've got.
00:07:56 We are the only company that does both boots and blades,
00:07:58 so we have a double-pronged approach to be able to help our skaters do the best.
00:08:02 And if you were going to continue skating today, because you're a former pair skater,
00:08:06 what boot would you be using on this nice window, this nice view of all of these boots?
00:08:11 Just show me, pick me a boot.
00:08:13 Well, it depends on your level, right?
00:08:15 As we've talked about before, we need to get the right support level.
00:08:18 Me, at this point in my life, I'm a big whip now.
00:08:21 I would definitely be going for something more soft, like our debut boot here.
00:08:25 But, back when I was training and competing, I was in some of the top level stuff.
00:08:28 So, something like this Synergy boot in 85 support level.
00:08:31 This is something like, Keegan's actually wearing this model.
00:08:34 Keegan Messing, fantastic.
00:08:36 And then we've got something more in the traditional, it's a suede finish,
00:08:40 that's going to give a similar support level, it's going to help you do all that same fun stuff.
00:08:44 It's just two different types of materials to achieve the same thing.
00:08:47 So, let's talk blades. All the Silver League blades.
00:08:51 We have a wide, fun little collection of blades.
00:08:54 Everything from our intermediate level stuff, in here and in here,
00:08:57 and all the way into our advanced series,
00:08:59 all have different types of toe pick patterns and rocker profiles.
00:09:04 Everything is going to help work with each individual skater for their skating style.
00:09:09 Something with a bigger toe pick cluster,
00:09:11 something that's going to give something a more powerful skater needs.
00:09:14 And then we've got some that are a little bit tighter knit.
00:09:16 Something like our Supreme blade here, that has a nice criss-cross cut pattern.
00:09:21 That's going to be great for your smaller skaters who need a lot of top of the ice grip.
00:09:25 You know what? I've got to tell you that this is,
00:09:28 just, you know, the way that it's evolving is really quite fantastic.
00:09:32 Yes.
00:09:33 You know, honestly.
00:09:34 The sport itself is evolving and developing so quickly and so fast.
00:09:39 We're now doing five quads in one program.
00:09:41 That is insane.
00:09:42 I'm not.
00:09:43 I know, me either.
00:09:44 People are.
00:09:46 These kids, these athletes are doing amazing things.
00:09:48 Yeah, they sure are.
00:09:49 We need to be able to keep up the technology and keep them,
00:09:52 continue to progress and continue to improve even more.

00:10:09 And I just want to take a minute today to tell you three key things you should know
00:10:12 about the Community coaching program.
00:10:15 Number one, community loves skating, right?
00:10:18 So we're heavily invested in the sport.
00:10:20 We want to make sure more people sign up for skating schools and clubs.
00:10:25 Secondly, we built a very simple to use app because, you know,
00:10:28 everything is done with an app these days that will help you as coaches grow
00:10:33 your coaching business and manage it in just a couple of clicks.
00:10:37 Point number three,
00:10:38 imagine being able to connect with a completely new set of audience that was
00:10:43 not accessible before.
00:10:44 So imagine people like me who are newcomers to Canada,
00:10:47 who are looking for skating coaches, but they don't really know where to start.
00:10:50 So they go on the Community app, look at your profile, find you,
00:10:53 book a few lessons with you.
00:10:54 If they like what they're doing,
00:10:56 then they'll go enroll for further lessons at a skating club or at a
00:10:59 skating school.

00:16:29 The first warm-up group is on the ice.
00:16:34 We have Alexandra Carrier, Stella Farris, Avae Pazelli,

00:16:47 So once again, I will be your host for the Star 9 Under 14 Women event,
00:16:54 and there are 18 competitors in this event.
00:16:59 There will be three warm-up groups of six,
00:17:02 of which the first six are on the ice warming up.
00:17:06 Once again, welcome, and let's watch some skating.

00:17:47 In the Star 9 event, we are looking for the following elements.
00:17:52 They have to do three jump elements, a single or a double axel,
00:17:57 a double jump, and a jump combination, which must consist of two double jumps.
00:18:03 There's two required spins, a combination spin that cannot have a flying entry,
00:18:11 one spin in one position, and it can change foot, and a step sequence.
00:18:17 So as we watch these events, that's what you will be looking for.
00:18:22 On the step sequence, we want to be watching for a variety of edges,
00:18:27 turns, changes of direction, depth of edge.
00:18:33 You might want to look like see if the foot is on a bit of a lean
00:18:37 or if it's straight up and down.
00:18:39 Straight up and down is not what we want.
00:18:41 We want a curve to the edge, to the blade, to the ice,
00:18:45 and that's what will qualify a good step sequence.
00:18:49 Again, both feet using the left foot equally with the right foot,
00:18:54 change of direction, variation in the turns,
00:18:59 and that's what we want to see in the step sequence.
