00:00 Before watching the video, let me remind you that there is more content on the Hotpoint website.
00:05 Under the hype of the new member of the Wu Qingtuan group, Akhmet,
00:08 the KK supermarket's sock storm has been causing a lot of tension.
00:13 Tonight, some Malay elites and Malay commentators,
00:16 as well as many Malay religious leaders and Malay businessmen,
00:18 have come out to call for everyone to calm down and not to carry out any "Bagga" actions.
00:22 If the hype continues, it will only scare away foreign investment and harm the country's economy.
00:26 But Wu Qingtuan's leader Akhmet seems to be a "scissors-thin"
00:29 and has no intention of giving up. He is more aggressive than ever before.
00:34 The KK, which has a strong religious and ethnic color, is also not as good as him.
00:37 What is even more unacceptable for the supporters of the KK,
00:40 is that the Supreme Council of the Wu Tong actually openly supports Akhmet's actions.
00:44 Is Wu Tong really proud of his "sock storm"?
00:48 Does he seem to be more aggressive than the KK,
00:50 and can he fight back against the supporters who have already left the KK?
00:54 Asmi Hassan, a political scholar at the National University of China,
00:56 said during an interview with the "Eight O'Clock Hotpoint"
00:58 that although Akhmet's actions have caused a double-edged sword in the KK government,
01:02 but as a "Malay" political party in the KK government,
01:05 it is understandable that Wu Tong and Akhmet did this.
01:09 Because in politics, as long as they can show the Malays
01:12 that they are still a strong political party in the KK government,
01:15 and are still committed to helping Malays and Islam,
01:19 they must take a more aggressive approach to the "sock storm".
01:24 But human rights lawyer Sidi Khasin was so excited
01:26 that he thought Wu Tong was a "scissors-thin man"
01:29 who could use this topic to make himself a guardian of the Malays and Islam.
01:33 But they forgot that this not only can't win back the hearts of Malays,
01:37 but it will also scare away foreigners.
01:39 He said that no matter how aggressive Wu Tong is in religion and Malays,
01:44 it is still difficult to save the support of Malays.
01:47 Because in the 1119 election,
01:49 Malays, especially those young voters,
01:52 have completely believed in the Islamist party.
01:56 It is a witch hunt.
01:57 Not only is it a witch hunt,
01:59 but UMNO or somebody in UMNO needs to find a scapegoat,
02:03 somebody to bogeyman, somebody to blame.
02:05 So I guess KK Man, unfortunately, is owned by a Chinese businessman.
02:11 So it's a good scapegoat or witch hunt, as you mentioned,
02:15 but also a good punching bag in terms of political Malaysia.
02:20 UMNO has no choice, basically,
02:22 because they have to go hard on this particular matter.
02:26 Asmi Hassan, a political scholar at UMNO, said in an interview,
02:29 "The Watsi riots at KK supermarket have been plagiarized by the UMNO into a religious topic,
02:34 to a certain extent, it has become a racial topic.
02:37 For UMNO, this is a rare issue after the 1119 election,
02:40 which was lost after losing the support of Malays.
02:43 It shows that they are more tough than the National Alliance in defending the religious nation.
02:48 So even if this will cause dissatisfaction among non-Muslims or non-Malay voters who support the National Alliance,
02:53 UMNO will not hesitate."
02:55 UMNO needs to demonstrate that they have the hearts and minds of the Malay support.
03:00 They need that.
03:02 So to go hard, meaning that the confidence,
03:05 to instill the confidence of the Malay voters,
03:07 that UMNO, even though facing PKR and DAP in the unity government,
03:11 can go very hard.
03:13 The support of the Malay voters is more critical for the government.
03:18 And UMNO is the best medium to gain the confidence of the Malay voters.
03:23 So I think that's the reason why AKMAL, supported by the Supreme Council,
03:29 to go very hard on this particular issue.
03:33 Asmi Hassan pointed out that because the UMNO is eager to win the Malays' votes,
03:37 so on the Watsi riots, their stance is tougher,
03:40 even tougher than the National Alliance.
03:43 But human rights lawyer Siti Khasin thought that UMNO thought that they were still the guardians of the Malays and Islam,
03:49 but she didn't realise that this role has been replaced by the Islamist party after the last election.
03:55 Now no matter what they do, it's all for nothing.
03:58 UMNO is so tainted now.
04:00 So no matter what they do or what they try to say or trying to act as if they're the hero,
04:08 sorry, it's not going to work.
04:10 A lot more Malays are more aware of what's going on in the country.
04:14 Second, a lot more Malays I think have been brainwashed that they must support an Islamic party.
04:23 Unfortunately for UMNO, they have not shown they are an Islamic party.
04:28 For UMNO, their stance on the Watsi riots was too aggressive,
04:32 even more aggressive than the National Alliance.
04:34 Siti Khasin criticized UMNO, especially Akhmar, who was still alive in the past,
04:38 and didn't realise that he was a dead party and no longer supported by Malays.
04:44 So UMNO must wake up and don't think that doing more aggressive than the National Alliance will win Malays' support.
04:51 Whatever they do now, whatever they try to show they are the defenders of Islam or Malays and all that,
04:59 in fact they are going to be ridiculed by a lot of Malays.
05:04 They are seen to be going above board, you know, like trying too hard.
05:11 Sometimes you need to back off and realise what are the sentiments of the people on the ground.
05:18 Siti Khasin also pointed out that if the Uyghurs or Malays continue to hype religious topics,
05:23 it will affect foreign investment and will undermine Malaysian confidence in their country.
05:28 If I am an investor, I will think many many times before I invest.
05:34 Not only these people use the Muslims cannot work in the haram places,
05:40 but their haram is kind of incredible, you know.
05:44 And if somebody planted things like this in their business,
05:47 you know, who's going to work? Who's going to invest money?
05:54 For the KK supermarket, the Malay organization G25 said that
06:00 we live in a multicultural country, so we need to control our emotions.
06:05 The organization also urged the Malays to listen to the advice of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Penang,
06:09 not to resist non-Muslim companies, because this is too much and it is against the Islamic teachings.
06:15 G25 today released a statement saying that although KK supermarket has apologized,
06:19 the livelihood, safety and reputation of the employees are still threatened.
06:23 Therefore, it calls on all parties to remain calm when commenting on this matter.
06:27 And when this kind of problem occurs, the government should lead and immediately assure the people that it will investigate and solve the problem.
