00:00 My name is Stephen Guy. I'm a resident in Southview Road, and we're stood at the
00:06 outside number 53 and number 55
00:10 Southview Road. These houses are going to be demolished by the developer and he's going to create a mini estate
00:19 at the back of this particular piece of land and
00:26 our concerns, myself and my friends and neighbors behind me, is that the development will straddle
00:33 a stream which normally runs under the surface, but after the
00:38 excessive rains that we've had for the last few months has come to the surface now and
00:43 has already contributed to the flooding of many of the properties in this area.
00:48 Our main concern is that if the development goes ahead,
00:52 the stream will be diverted
00:55 more flooding will take place and the land also serves to act as a sponge
01:00 absorbing much of the water and
01:03 if the development goes ahead that will not
01:06 be the case and there will be even more surface groundwater for us to contend with. On that basis
01:13 we want, we are objecting in considerable numbers, and we would want
01:20 the organizations like Southern Water and the Environment Agency to also join and
01:26 object to this development. It should not go ahead and we will continue to fight it until we succeed in stopping it.
