00:00 Tansri Azam Baki says he will look into claims by Ton Dr Mahathir Mohamad's two eldest sons
00:07 that they are not the target of investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission
00:12 (MACC).
00:14 The MACC chief commissioner said that when met by reporters after the launch of the Cyber
00:18 Security Centre of Excellence on Tuesday.
00:22 When pressed further, Azam said he did not want to comment on the claims made by 63-year-old
00:27 Mokzani Mahathir and his elder brother, 65-year-old Mirzan, during a recent interview.
00:50 Both brothers claimed that they were merely witnesses in the investigations, with their
00:54 father, Dr Mahathir, being the primary suspect.
00:58 They also claimed that MACC has not provided them with the details of the investigation
01:03 against their father.
01:05 In January, MACC ordered Mokzani and Mirzan to declare their assets dating back to 1981,
01:12 the year Dr Mahathir first became prime minister.
01:15 They were given 30 days to do so, but were later given a further 30-day extension by
01:20 MACC.
01:22 The investigations are said to be linked to entities named in the Pandora Papers as well
01:27 as the Panama Papers, which MACC has been probing since August 2022.
01:33 It was reported in January that Dr Mahathir slammed MACC for conducting what he claimed
01:38 was "selective prosecution" against certain individuals, including his sons.
01:43 The investigation is expected to continue until the case is closed.
